Playing at Villa Park was not and is not our big day out by any stretch of the imagination.  Please get over yourselves.

In actual fact it's our 3rd biggest away trip this month, out of a possible four. And you could argue even Watford is bigger as they're a Premier League club...

Cannot believe some of the arrogance. Honestly shocking from a club of fans I thought were alright. Done nothing but look down on us from the first time we played them last season. Would love it if they languish in the Championship forever.

To be fair it's only those kids to the right and it was the same last season.

But yes, big day out, they really are full of themselves, last year it was only a few days after we had been to Newcastle (a far bigger day out in all regards) and as has been said, this time round it comes before and after far far bigger matches.

I did like the fact they called it our big day out but their club had laid on a pitch length of fireworks. I think it was Villa who made more of it than anyone, to be honest.

If you want to bring a Villa fan back down to earth remind them than in 21 matches in all competitions and nearly 20 years, they have failed to beat Man Utd at Villa Park.

I saw that in the programme, even Grealish referred to the stadium as the best in the championship and that teams raise their games when visiting as it's a big thing.  So clearly the brainwashing is successful at all levels of the club.

It's just wrong. No two ways about it. Almost as bad as the sags that.

My first visit to Villa Park. Think it's a terrific ground. Had a wander around before going in. Obviously it's now rather dated looking but it has real character.

Villa fans were pretty quiet. They don't really have any songs bar their anthem.

Gobby teenagers always seem to sit near away fans. Same in the Atyeo. What makes me laugh are the grown men with them joining in. Had that at Newcastle when we played there 10 years ago. Kids goaded by adults.

@Olé, don't knock the pyrotechnics. The heat from them kept me warm for 10 seconds!!

By the way, not much room in the upper tier concourse was there?? So cramped. Unfortunately part and parcel of poor facilities at old grounds.

I remember Birmingham City's forum in the summer saying Flint and Bryan were sure to join them as they were going to go up and we weren't. Look where they are now.

Villa are a good side who played well yesterday but let's see what May brings.

A rather hashed Brexit I reckon...

oops, wrong Forum

My theory is this, let them have their moment.. they have spent a boat load to try get out this Division and are no where near their rivals Wolves. Yeah you beat us 5-0, that is fine we have no expectations to win Promotion and yet are still 1 place above them despite this. Lets see if they are cocky in May when the disaster club Villa have been the last 8 years fail to get promotion again; 2 defeats and they call for Bruce's head.

We really have upset a few big boys by doing so well havent we.

They saw a chance to get under the skin of visiting supporters. That’s fine.

However There was a lot of quite startling vitriol as there is no history with them.

But there is now! I am officially an Aston Villa hater and really hope they finish 7th to inflict maximum pain on the hideous scum they are!

Not that they got under my skin  !

and don't get me on that song they ALWAYS sing on their travels. The one to the tune "Kumbaya" something about empty seats and stuff.

What a right bunch of are swipes. If is isn't to be our season, I would have Derby County go up over these cants every single time.

For a club that is supposedly much bigger and better than us, they haven't half made a big deal out of their victory! A fan on another forum got really touchy when I dared to suggest that the scoreline had more to do with our fatigue and injuries than them being particularly good. I even gave his team credit and congratulated him on their victory but that wasn't enough, he wanted me to admit that our injury crisis had no bearing on the scoreline at all!! Just another club with delusions of grandeur to go along with Leeds, Forest and a couple of others. May City along with Preston or Brentford go up, just to really annoy them.

I used to go to Villa quite a lot in the 80/90's when living in Shrewsbury. Remember one great night in the Holte when Internazionale came there. And some good games with Man City and Liverpool.

But I would think a lot of the stadium is now showing signs of age, wear and lots of tears.

Dont know what people expect really.. Aston Villa still firmly feel as if they are a Premier League club, its almost as if they think they are on loan to the Championship for a bit and will regain there rightful place sooner rather than later.. they could be in for a pretty big shock as if they haven't already noticed the longer you stay at this level the harder it gets season on season to get out.. they should be careful, once the parachute money runs dry they could be well and truly fo0ked, they historically have a very fickle fan base attendance wise aswell and i can see that 30 k they average at home dropping considerably over the next few seasons if they dont go up..

Anyway lets just go about our business as we have been and let the Villa's of this world think what they like about themselves, i know which club id rather support and certainly which City id rather come from, to call the area of 'Aston' a toilet would be disrespectful to toilets all over the world i can tell you that, what a ******* shithole

Thats another thing right, people say "area x is a shithole" but Aston is the hair on the pimple on the arsecheek of the UK. Awful place.

I quite like that mentality too. Suits us. Plucky underdogs.

Fair point there for sure.

Let's not forget Leeds were touted as title contenders the season they went down. I think it's fourteen years out of the Premier League for them now. Wednesday were around where Villa were for much of the 90s and have spent nearly two decades outside the top flight. Similar story with Forest. There's a point where you stop being a big team and become just another Championship club...

They were a graceless bunch.  No noise at the beginning of the game.  Total lack of variety of songs.  I saw one them go right up to the face of a City fan after the game singing 5-0 on your big day out and promptly got dealt with by the West Midlands Constabulary in their own inimitable fashion.  There was real hatred in the bloke's eyes.  Similar look on the faces of the West Brom fans a couple of years ago.  Just shows what living in a hole like Birmingham / West Midlands does to a person.

Peterborough have over 6k on Saturday.

The greatness lies in the ability to restrict away fans. Why cram your ground with away fans on their (ahem) big day out if you don't need the pennies? Less away support the better as far as I'm concerned.

at least we don't ask the police to keep us in at st Andrews or sing pathetic songs on the holte end steps .....youtube it .....on a par with the horse worriers

Wasn't gonna nibble but it's only on sale to ST holders mate. Not really relevant then.

Ermm. What? It's still two weeks before the game, and tickets are still only on sale to members! Away fans are generally very welcome here, but you won't make many fans posting childish drivel like that!  Either show some respect or kindly fudge off please.

No - We'd probably have gone straight back down if we did. Besides, the Championship can be quite good fun for a couple of seasons.

You lot come across as the angriest fans in the division though - Your reactions to us signing Kodjia were entertainment enough on their own but these sour grapes about getting whacked 5-0 are hilarious.

Don't think theres anything on this forum thats all that angry though is there? I expected a meltdown but the response on here was calm and measured.

No idea why you think that about Jimmy, bought him for 2mill and sold him for 11 ..Why would we be angry ?  You beat us fair and square I and most of us have admitted it . Yet you've signed up to our little clubs forum to give it the big Spuds....who looks the dick m8 ?

From where I'm sitting, there appears to be an awful lot of bitterness, hence my posting. Bitterness usually breeds anger. What has the surrounding area of Villa Park got to do with anything for a start? Are we supposed to be bothered by that? Villa Park is situated alongside a grade 1 listed mansion with beautiful grounds in any case. It has fantastic heritage.

As for it being your big day out - Does it really warrant a thread? Of course it's a big day out - The figures showing away fans attendance support this. most teams in the division sell out their allocation at Villa yet don't do so elsewhere. why is that if it isn't their big day out?

Seriously buddy, you don't appear to have anything meaningful to say and seem to just be here to wind us up. We don't care for your sort on here so please click on the nice big LOG OUT button and go troll somewhere else. Thanks. :)

Well idk about bitterness. I think if you read the threads after the game that popped up that might've dropped off the front page, there was anything but bitterness.

Aston is not a nice place. Not an attack on you or your team. It's a shithole imo. Irrelevant.

As for the big day out thing, smacks of arrogance which is all I've got from a lot of Villa fans since you dropped down in to the Championship. I know some clubs joke with regards to it but doesn't seem the case with Villa. Constantly looking down on other teams, at least in my experience.

Good luck with the rest of the season.

You are very welcome here provided you show some intelligence. All I've seen from you is snidey, arrogant remarks. The very definition of keyboard warrior. What a sad life you must lead to sign up for another teams forum just to act like this. Take a long hard look at yourself and grow the hell up. Idiot.

Quite popular with other fans at the moment. Telling us how shit we are . We got battered at villa no complaints. Like we battered them last season. They are a big club and fans want to go there. No brainier. But what is this melt going on about. Concentrate on massive Aston Villa and we’re concentrate on little Bristol City

I think there a certainly a number coming over like that at the mo. I'm surprised that there are so many delicate little flowers that get so upset over a little tickle in the ribs. It seems like 10 minutes of success has gone to some of my fellow Reds heads.

I signed up last season after your visit to Villa Park.

I only returned after reading about this bitter thread here;

I believe that your manager and (some of) your fans have shown no class whatsoever. I decided to respond. That has nothing to do with growing up.

Jesus H Christ. Every club has fans who are bad losers, including some of yours at Ashton Gate last year. The Sheffield United forum went ballistic after we beat them, that didn't mean I signed up to their forum to act like a cock and rub their noses in it because I have better things to do with my life. You clearly don't. So the get a life and grow up comment still stands I'm afraid. I think it says it all about you that you signed up after you beat us last year but not for the previous game at Ag When we turned you over. Didn't fancy talking to us that day eh??
