nebristolred
Race still on but things aren't looking great at this stage. We all know F1 has historically failed to 'crack' America, but since the success of the Austin GP this feels like a real attempt by Liberty to create a flagship event here that will finally overcome that and be a fixture for years to come. But there are warning signs so far that it's not going particularly great, and not just because a manhole cover broke. The track itself looks dull at best, the temperatures are looking cold almost to a point of negligence by those planning it. Previously sky-high tickets and hotel rooms are all coming down in price, their big unveiling of the drivers yesterday was in front of basically empty grandstands, and all the while the casino's are only in because they've been persuaded that they will make more money, but at this rate it's not looking all that likely. Fingers crossed the mad temperatures spice up the racing a little bit.
bearded_red
Total farce, not often you’ll see me agreeing with Max Verstappen but he’s absolutely spot on about this freak show.

All I wrote was 'their big unveiling of the drivers yesterday was in front of basically empty grandstands'. You called it 'bs'. I prove you wrong. Why do you then go on and pretend I was making a completely different point? How strange . You were trying to paint a picture that the whole event was unsupported which is false.

For one, all that shows is the VIP areas above the garages being quite full, you can't really see how busy the grandstand is at all, so not sure what you're trying to prove there. And secondly, I merely said there are warning signs, mainly because the planning and preparation for some of this has been an absolute farce. When you have drivers racing in single-degree temperatures at 3.30am in the name of money then something has gone wrong. Not to mention the constant mad rush of opening and closing the track which has now meant that paying fans miss out on half the action of the first day and will probably not get any money back. I'd love a great race this weekend more than ever but Liberty are not immune to criticism and it's pretty odd that you're so defensive over one little weekend preview. Admin phantom Posted November 17, 2023 Admin Report Share Posted November 17, 2023 Probably worth adding that the parts of the show that showed full areas were pre-recorded from earlier in the day By the time it came to the racing part many of those people had wondered off Let's not pretend many are there for the F1, it's all about being there and being seen there!! Below are photos of a Heineken sponsors area which is $6k per person per seat and their view is literally blocked by a lighting rig right along their area, what other event would a top company settle for such an appalling view? This GP is all a charade for trying to open a new market and to make more money, Toto Wolf's comments as above speak volumes for what it is all about this weekend An amusing thing, the video below on Tiktok was from before this morning's disaster, so how does a photographer notice they issues and nobody in and around F1 does? https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeJUsFjk/ Let's just hope that the safety of the drivers and spectators is not put at risk for a spectacle, otherwise we will be waking up to the wrong headlines on Sunday morning.I'm still expecting the cold track temperatures to play a part in the race
Markthehorn
Feel for the fans who were kicked out before FP2 after probably paying good money to watch . I just hope it’s now safe enough for drivers and fans alike .

transfer reader
Every car revealed so far for this season has black as a main colour on its body. The Sauber (stake) team does stand out more from the others, but the others aren't as easy to distinguish just at a glance.

These days they struggle to get the weight down (previously they would be under the minimum weight), so reducing the amount of paint used helps with that. Yeah, remember similar being said with the McLaren car last year. A shame because it makes it harder to tell the cars apart at a glance. Personally would like to see the cars made smaller again (without excessively dropping safety) because a huge part of the problems with the racing now is because the cars are 5m long. This would also makes them a lot lighter and they wouldn't look so unresponsive in corners.

I was watching 1997 highlights the other day and the cars look tiny!
