I was referring to Tommy Hutchison, hence my saying he was staff. Ralph Milne definitely fits the bill though, unless you add the word English to the original question Edited January 27, 2022 by richwwtk

He (Bobby) was a great player, a fantastic free signing...... didn't he commute from Dundee? I seem to remember he used to use the overnight sleeper train and get a cab from TM straight [o the training ground - couldn't have been earning much then either

Malago
2 hours ago, Silvio Dante said: Ah it’s in the wording though ”Which ex city player” and no qualification means they played for us at one point. Not that the event happened after they played for us. If it was worded as “Which ex city player then went on…” said player would have had to play for us before the event. The lack of the qualification allows for players to play for us after the event. Yes, I’m pedantic… “Which ex scored in a top flight cup final in the 80s.” Is the question. That unequivocally means a player that had already played and left City IMO.. Edited January 27, 2022 by Malago

Malago
Dundee United reached another final in the 1981–82 season, and Milne scored the opening goal in the 1981 Scottish League Cup Final on 28 November 1981, The answer is Ralph Milne. Although I maintain the question is erroneously worded, given it predates Ralphies time ar City
