The Batman
Classic Lee Dixon on commentary. "this will be disallowed". Ref points to the centre spot immediately. Definitely hand ball though.
BCFCGav
Yea that was weird. Ignoring all the VAR buzzwords he kept the ball under control with his hand. So handball. Accident or not.
Maltshoveller
And there was me thinking that after Man Utd were given their 44th pen since 2019 refs and VAR always favored the "BIG" clubs

Too many last season were getting ruled out.

RedLionLad
VAR check for a possible penalty after the final whistle. Which raises the question…….Has anyone ever scored a goal after the game has finished? Edited February 4, 2022 by RedLionLad

All the stuff about the hand being in an unnatural position was just to help decide whether there was any intent. I’m all for handball being restricted to deliberate cheating, not just accidental contacts. Then it’s just the ref’s honest opinion whether the player deliberately cheated or not. At the moment it still appears goals will be ruled out for accidental handball if the contact puts the ball into the net. So, I presume, if a defender lashes a clearance at an attacker, it will be a goal if it hits the attacker’s chest and goes in, but not if it hits his elbow. That would also be nonsense.

Pre var they'd have just argued with the ref for 5 mins on the pitch and the game would have been a draw.
Rob k
How can anyone come to a conclusion that that was not a handball - i don’t care who goes through but that’s a shocker
