Close enough for Tins and others to get to games but far enough away to get young players out of their comfort zones perhaps?

As pointed out in another thread, we had good links with Flynn when he was at Newport.

I note that young keeper Mac Boyd has gone out on loan again to Melksham Town.

One month for him and Brandon Oberteri* Oputeri (new name to me) has gone to Yate for a month too. Olly Thomas has gone to Bath City for the rest of the season.

Apologies to the young man but it's our own website that misspelt his name.

Any information on Oputeri Dave? The only thing I have from my "friend" is that he is a racehorse without a jockey!

Nope, saw him come on as sub once late in a game (might’ve been Peterborough away).  He did okay.  Quick.

Cracking game at Twerton Park.  Superb goal from James Morton, who played well throughout, and Olly Thomas looked a beast when he came on.  First touch not necessarily the best, but he frightened the life out of the Eastbourne defence with his powerful running.  First time I’ve seen him and he looks a prospect.  How come James Morton is still only on loan though?  Presumably he’ll never feature for City after so many years on the books.

I assume it's because we will continue to pay his wages until the end of his contract? @Davefevsmay know more.

You describe perfectly the Olly Thomas I saw a number of times in u23s last season.  He dies so remind me of Antoine (mk2)

Yes, I’d imagine so.  4 Yr (and option) signed in Sept 2019 whilst on loan to FGR, where he started well but tailed off.  Even made his City debut against Exeter in EFL Cup under Holden at start of 20/21 season, never to appear again.  On trial with MK Dons summer 2021 but Martin / Williams managerial duo split when Martin went to Swansea.  Then a trial this summer with Williams at Notts County to no avail.

I just find it a bit bizarre.  Looks so elegant when I’ve seen him in u23s (u21s).  May lack a yard of pace for this level admittedly, but I struggle to see how he’s not become a pro elsewhere, unless…

…that contract was too big for anyone to want to take it on, or him accept City cancelling his deal here.

Both club and player appear to be the loser here.  City contractually obliged of course.

I hope it is a “money-thing” and as soon as his contract ends here this summer, he will genuinely be free to kick start his pro career.

Low getting good reviews on Twitter

Good. I thought he did well in the play I saw. Up against Iheanacho when came on, and took a clever bit of play by another forward to stop him getting close enough to get his shot away for the goal.

I was looking at Ross County's recent record and there is no mention of Owura Edwards?

They seem to have signed several players who all play in a similar position to him as well, including another player called Edwards from Wigan.

I had a look at his Twitter page, but it doesn't seem to have been updated recently, I don't have access to any of the other social media, anyone any idea what's happening with him?

By the way, I see that Opi has gone to the US to play.

Opi is now playing for Rochester New York FC in the US third tier. The club is co-owned by Jamie Vardy.

Have allowed youngsters Callum Wood, Joe Porton and Tommy Backwell to depart the Championship club on loan for a short period.

Backwell and Wood have headed to nearby non-league side Yate Town, whilst Porton has moved to Melksham Town, both on initial short-term deals, which could be extended. All three players can be recalled from their clubs, and they will continue to train at the High Performance Centre during the day, whilst also training in the night with their respective teams.

Yate back in our good books then.

Three City youngsters at Yate now.

New manager, completely different style of football being played, better results, more competitive, positivity all around the club again.

Peter Beadle is thankfully a long distant memory. Worst manager I've ever seen tbh. Considering his professional background...clueless.

City have always been happy to send youngsters out to Rendall teams. Whenever Paulton (Rendalls previous team), who run on a small squad, needed a player on loan, Tinns usually sorted one.

Cracking game down at lodge road yesterday.

Backwell and Wood both started. Backwell did ok, got hooked. Wood was more impressive, very composed. Hooked later on.

Two great goals from Yate. One straight from kick off.

Three howlers conceding. The defending at the corner is a joke. Then the call from the keeper to win the ball from a long cross is hilarious. Don't think he got within 2ms of it ?? Then the cheap ball inside to lose possession leads to the winner.

Watching this and my mates stream of City at the same time made for an entertaining afternoon.

Speaking to a Poole fan, the majority of their fans behind the goal celebrating are banned from home games ??

Apparently one had to get a train back as the coach driver wouldn't let him back on...he was that wasted ?

I see Ross Staley played his last game on Saturday and is off to play in New Zealand. I know he hasn't been at Yate long but he will be a big miss.
