Rendall used to be a coach down Yate years ago. Lives local and his assistant and mate who does “match day operations” are also regulars. He seems to be exactly what Yate needed. The atmosphere down there under Beadle was toxic after the highs of Paul Michael, so they needed someone who had connections to the club in order to get that relationship with the community back. It’s a promising start - the 3-3 in his first game was at least attacking - but Yate looked awful at the back, two clean sheets since but Wood is very much needed so a good loan all round. I’m not sure Rendall was overly impressed with what he inherited and this is the fourth incoming by my counting. Will be down at Lodge Road tomorrow so will report back how he does. AFC Wimbledon were eliminated from the FA Cup after a 2-0 loss to Chesterfield which left a bitter taste in the mouth. Our side were a yard off the pace for much of the game and were made to pay for it as the National League promotion contenders struck either side of half-time through Armando Dobra and Jeff King. We didn’t match the physicality of the Spireites and it was a performance far removed from what we’ve come to expect during the past 10 games. By my reckoning that means that 3 of his 4 goals against league teams have been against FGR. He must be humming "can I play you every week" on the coach home. As Major said, I'm more concerned that he didn't get any games after the first two.
