The 1954-55 side was pretty good too, even if it was Div 3 instead of Div One

IAmNick
Quick reminder for everyone picking players from 50 years ago that this was I believe Man U vs Liverpool in the 80s. Now THAT'S an offside trap... Edited October 15, 2022 by IAmNick

Phileas Fogg
Lee Trundle (if we played him how he's supposed to be played) - Imagine him on top form alongside Weimann and Semenyo. Could easily interchange him for JET/Noble/Murray. I also think Eliasson would be a great asset to this side.
Bazooka Joe
For me, it has to be Stefan Marinovic. It's a rare experience to have watched a goalkeeper of his calibre. During his illustrious career at Ashton Gate, I believe he only concede one goal, whilst making headlines for his performance, 1
Leveller
Another vote for Geoff Merrick. An incredibly “modern” central defender in a different era. Better than Adam Webster in my view. And - controversial view here - pushing him out of position to play Norman Hunter was a questionable decision.

I remember being told by Les Bardsley that Alan Dick's had told Geoff that if he worked on the position he would play for England. From the way things went I am guessing that Merrick didn't feel that way.

I remember thinking at the time that he was similar to Bobby Moore.

Ivorguy
We’d.luck and Atyeo for true quality, bordering on fooTball genius. I believe both would easily adapt to the modern game, altho Fatty might have to lose a stone or three! But also for their whole hearted commitment in every game. When I watched City with Atyeo playing I never lost hope. He could easily win any game on his own with football magic. When my grandfather watched City with Wedlock in it he always expected clean sheets. I would walk a million miles for one of John’s goals, or at least face the cost of reaching Ashton Gate from deepest Sussex.
Lanterne Rouge
Rob Newman (never saw John Atyeo play otherwise I suspect it would be him). Biff could play anywhere and was bloody good wherever he did. 1
Sheltons Army
With the current pace of play in Championship and counter attacking Andy Cole Was too good for us , and capable of making us a top six side even with our obvious frailties Edited October 15, 2022 by Sheltons Army
