Which “singing section”?

Mistake me if I’m wrong but if there were no checks at the top of the steps, wouldn’t you be able to sit anywhere in the Dolman or South Stand? Just thinking she’s checking to make sure people are in the correct block/seat. The turnstiles nowadays are probably just to make sure you’re in the correct stadium/stand on the correct day.

By singing section I mean the official safe standing area.

Shame to hear "We're Bristol City, we do what we want" being sung around the time of the trouble with the stewards. Usually means people are being dicks because they think they can get away with it.

As I’ve said, there were absolutely no issues with the stewards, that was being sung to the security guards who waded into a group of fans who were celebrating the goal.

Not sure what happened but a man in Dolman Block B row U (in yellow coat) was asked to show ticket I believe, and then 2 security ladies escorted him out and he never came back. No idea what happened there??

Maybe he had the wrong age type of ticket....juvenile or senior???

Maybe the club/stewards requested extra help because one of them got beaten up after the Norwich game became a  couple of parents couldn't control their children.....

Just saying....

You might be correct there mate; although I thought that was in the Dolman from what I saw, albeit near the singing/standing section.

Nah they’ve been there for a few games now. I actually said to my friends at the time, last time private security got bought in, back in the eastend days it didn’t end well & knew it would only be a matter of time before it happened again.

It’s not like your usual stewards who get to know the fans they’re dealing with, these storm in & try to intimidate over the smallest inconvenience & get upset when they don’t get the response they expect.

Yesterday the second issue with them was a lad standing on a seat. There was something that happened towards the top of the Dolman side of the corner prior to that but I’m not too sure what that was.

I didn’t notice them in there for the Norwich game, were they there then?

If this refers to the A or B block there was a higher presence of stewards to manage the kids who can’t understand they just can’t sit anywhere.

Against Norwich was the last game sc holders could move their seat (3 games max per season) this meant the kids who wanted to sit in new singing section now could not.

stewards have been great in these blocks having to deal with people who screenshot and share tickets making it unsafe for the majority stay there due to over crowding.

Some tosser from Winterstoke Road entrance shouting at people Saturday and Today to show their tickets. Get a proper job mate, we wouldn't be walking to the Ground for no reason. Jobsworths everywhere

Seems to be a recent thing, I just don’t see the point in this, if I don’t have a ticket I won’t get into the ground, but I might want a pint or a look around the club shop

And yet at the other end of the dolman (atyeo) no ticket or coat checks before you go in

I asked a steward about this last night, who, to paint a more positive picture of them was actually reasonable.

I normally enter via the Dolman entrance where no checks are made before the turnstiles. Yesterday I came in from KFC and was stopped and asked to show my ticket.

When I asked why and the difference between the Dolman entrance the rationale he gave was “this route and the whole back of the Lansdown is a public access area usually so on match days we ask to see tickets”.

Perplexed at the answer I showed my ticket and carried on.

If it’s a public access route why is there a need to show tickets? To the above point what if someone just wants to walk along the back of the Lansdown. Maybe go to the shop, maybe get a drink but not watch the game.

Given you need to show your ticket at the turnstiles it does seem rather pointless.

Isn't it a permissive public right of way?

So if there are times when access is controlled (and potentially anyone without a ticket may be denied access at the checks), it would/should prevent it ever becoming a public right of way where the club/Ashton Gate Ltd could no longer control access.

Just say you're collecting at the ticket office, no need to take hands out of pockets or open coats then. Works every time ?

Believe that the steward was getting very rowdy when we scored, and then eventually squared up to a member of S82 and had to be separated. Something happened with the drum as-well, think he may of knocked it off?

He was taken out and didnt return, and rightfully so. A lot of abuse followed, with the chants ‘get a proper job’ ‘what a waste of money’ ‘you bum’ ‘w**ker’ . Dont think he will be returning to the singing section anytime soon. Second game in a row that weve had a steward drama there, really poor from them really.

Similar to what I saw except it was not a steward it was a security guard who was also joined by his team leader. He was hauled away to the back of the standing section but was still hanging around there for a while but disappeared second half.

This security guard physically grabbed at least one person from what I saw which then escalated quickly.
