Padlad
If they just swapped the badge and put the robin on the back it would be so much better. I've never heard of a kit without the club badge on the front. It's disgrace with no consultation with fans and damages our identity and brand as a club.

That’s my view too….the kit / colour etc is fine…put the round badge on the front, stick the Robin below the neck nice on the back and it’s a decent enough 3rd kit imho.
ChippenhamRed
I just bought the Hummel home shirt direct from Hummel (why this was even possible when City themselves didn’t have any stock in my size for months, I have no idea). Someone also bought me the new Oneil GK top as a birthday present. The difference in quality is unbelievable. The design, the quality of the material, the stitching, the fit, the feel, the colours - everything about Hummel is a million miles better. The Oneil top feels like a market knock off. Even the badge is a naff PVC thing compared to a nice soft silicone one on the Hummel. £50 is disgraceful. Refuse to believe the club haven’t shot themselves in the foot here (again) because there’s no way they will sell anywhere near as much stuff now.

Or even our actual robin from the middle of the new crest by itself if thats the look they wanted. That clip art ruins quite a cool shirt really

I thought the idea was we had that part of the crest to use in isolation ala Derby, Swansea (old badge), Liverpools Liver Bird etc. That's been done on training/leisurewear but not the kit. Instead we get this. Also, on McCrories shirt it looks like the naff bird is now on another bit of material and stitched on rather than printed. Suggests that it's here to stay

RedRock
Clearly, Man City castoffs. Hopefully though they gave us some of their players too as part of the trade. I fear, otherwise, it’s all going to be a bit of embarrassment for our femmes in the top league.

We’ve a robin in a circle, a robin without a circle, a robin that looks it’s been flattened/roadkill and now a retro City logo. The colour and quality of those training t shirts looks awful.

Popular Post Olé
FFS this new training kit is just going from bad to worse. Besides O'Neills looking like ultra basic park football blanks with ridiculously cheap looking and entirely random iron-on chest logos, on what planet did it make sense to resurrect that 70s CITY design in a circle, which works because it was red (City x Red being unique to us) and roll it out not in red, but black and WORST of all sky blue, a colour for which there are at least two large football teams called City to be confused by. I mean it actually beggars belief how equal parts moronic and out of control these clowns are. Everyone jumps on JL, I've got no idea if it's still him or someone else, but the pattern of completely self indulgent "look I've done a design" that the club we support keeps rolling out (which for real designers would never have made it off the computer after a few days of sensible reflection/consultation) shows a breathtaking lack of professionalism or interest in us being taken seriously. They've had some hits with Hummel, probably talking to competent designers and yet the level of ego and delusion about their role as a design function has quite clearly run out of control now. Fuelled by their own self-created social media echo chamber (WE ARE FEVER PITCH, Bristol City get likes so we are an agency now x) they think every traced robin, shape or font they touch will just turn to gold. Their whole output is now an endless gushing sewage outlet of fonts and doodles. The crest redesign never really worked for me as a project. The intent made sense and clearly actual designers worked on it, but it fell a little short of succeeding via some amateurish or fussy details (the design tries to do a few too many things and could have been even cleaner, whilst first production of it on kits pre-Hummel was awful quality that hugely degraded the logo). Both of those felt entirely "client" (JL or whoever you want to blame) rather than designer led problems. But to go from falling just short on a crest we are now supposed to be known by, to then compounding it by now regularly as the client instead trying to roll out other bits of shit homemade clipart in its place, not only diluting impact of your new brand, but suggesting a monumentally immature "let's play" art class mentality at the club, is evidence that our approach to brand and merchandising is a total embarrassment once the grown ups (Mr B & Friends and Hummel) are gone. 23
Tinmans Love Child
Ultimately if nobody buys the kit or training wear etc because they don't like it then the club will act as they will be hit in the pockets which is the only place you can hit them.

This is captive audience marketing & the club are hoping we get Stockholm syndrome. Some say it’s only a kit, who cares, don’t like it so don’t buy it etc but replica match shirts in particular are a fundamental element of any club’s identity and it’s expected that 10,000s of fans will wear it. The designs are becoming far to personal to JL who is hoping this connects with other fans. Maybe a limited edition commemorative shirt for the small number of fans who like that vintage sort of thing but match day shirts should a technical garment of modern design, created by a specialist brand. Theres good reason why specialist sports brands give clubs limited customisation as they are multi £M/B sport specialists who know far more about design in their field. 2

This is it….. stupidly the club’s obsession with re-making shirts is losing an opportunity. They could have a normal, modern shirt AND a range of retro shirts (as plenty of clubs do). Companies like Score Draw and TOFFS make perfectly decent retro shirts. 2
1960maaan
I like the logo, then again I liked that CITY logo in '74 and had it on my school bag. As for quality, hard to tell from a photo but the design is nice. This does feel like any stick to beat the Club with, I really think this wouldn't be an issue if this was a range by Hummel. I do question the blue though, as Man City ( I can't put C-iteh for some reason ) are so high profile ATM seems an odd decision, anyone seeing that will not think anything but Manchester. I like that we try and individualise out shirts ( that was a reason we went with Hummel previously remember), I don't think JL should be involved all the time as it seems he's obsessed with copying old kits. Nothing wrong with that to a point , but I think it's something like 4 of the last 6 have had a retro element. I also don't like the Big Corps old ideas of supplying 1/2 designs and just changing the Club badges. 17 minutes ago, Mendip City said: Companies like Score Draw and TOFFS make perfectly decent retro shirts. I've complained about the shop and their marketing a lot. Simple missed opportunities year on year and this is another. I would get someone like TOFFS on board and sell the old shirts through the shop. They could take a cut of sales with no worries about finding a maker etc. I don't know who is in charge of shop, or even if there is someone, It just plods along not trying. I could compare it to other Clubs, but just compare it to the old portacabin in Beryl's days, the range of stuff was much better back then than now. I've heard that the shop will be bigger when the new site is done, but that will be pointless unless the whole retail & design side is redone.
