Pearson Post Match

Two points here:

1) Didn’t JL recently say in an interview he felt we had underachieved? Backs up they aren’t behind Nige?

2) The massive hole that exists, and has for some time, is the lack of communication from anybody of importance or status within our club - they could end all this discomfort with some form of statement?

It is absolutely clear the majority of fans are behind Nige, why? Because he has earned that respect!

Imagine if we turned Ashton's mob over tomorrow and Pearson decided to walk...............

This sounds like some sort of  biblical miracle. City win and Nigel’s says “Stuff you Lansdown, I’ve decided to throw down my crutches and walk”

There's been many comments through this thread that Pearson's "unspecified neurological disorder" (note the Post didn't report it as undiagnosed, NP may know full well what it is but rightly keeping the specific nature to himself) is causing him pain in fulfilling his duties but that he is showing commitment to the cause and ploughing on regardless.

Could it be that Nige has brought this to a head because whilst he's happy to do that, at risk of the situation worsening, if the club plan to keep him beyond this season, if they don't he'd rather they pushed him out now and he can convalesce at leisure.

They quoted from him...While the root of the neurological issue is yet to be discovered, Pearson has thankfully ruled out anything particularly serious, such as cancer.

So from that I'd take it as ' undiagnosed '...hence the ongoing procedures to find out.

I’m eternally grateful that LJ is employed. If he wasn’t I could imagine him being reappointed with a joint statement from him and SL waffling on about unfinished business

At least SL would be able to see all the newish red seats in his shiny newish stadium 🏟 #EXODUS

Totally agree. He's cut the budget massively as required, sold over £35M of players, removed all the high earners (some of which were good). Rather than underachieving, I think he's done what most couldn't and kept us up!

I dont think you'll find any disagreement on this point PF.

Spot on!

Or maybe some see things very differently to you?  Some of think we are in a good position to move forward...and a lot of credit goes to Nige for that.

It’s about opinions and debate.

There are people on here saying they will stop following the club if he leaves! That is OTT and pathetic!

Worth noting too that the squad has thinned out year on year in some positions. Perhaps all and yet NP is delivering more with less.

Bentley and O'Leary are 2 you can see competing for number 1. Whereas the current understudies not so much.

2021-22, at CB injury permitting for example we had:

Kalas, Baker, Atkinson, Vyner, Cundy. Then Klose from January.

Pring and DaSilva are 2 genuine LBs whereas I know Roberts is utility and Naismith can also do well at CB but it isn't really their first choice position. Pring and Roberts yes but there is an element of not quite a specialist.

We've effectively cut by 2 or 3 the number of true centre backs. One light.

Sykes, Cornick, Mehmeti in..O'Dowda, Semenyo, Martin out. Weimann and Wells are also 2 years older but on the plus side so are Bell and Conway.

Scott, Massengo, Palmer and January 2022 Bakinson out. Naismith, Knight, Gardner-Hickman in.

Once again as above Naismith is a player who can play multiple positions which is good and bad. Gardner-Hickman filling in at RB

This in the first instance FFP related downsizing then latterly all on the board. Sure NP would love another CB, ie a 4th outright one, another creative central player and perhaps even another GK to compete with O'Leary post the Scott windfall.

Oh almost forgot. Benarous was available then, now he isn't and hasn't been for some time.

That is another down and though he will be back at some point, I doubt he will hit the ground running after such lengthy first team absences. Cannot have helped his development at all.

Wasn’t that recently…but yes. Nige called him out on it and I have a feeling that’s the last we’ve heard from JL aside from announcing O’Neils
