ExiledAjax
I've just seen a club video where Hayden Roberts says that Yorkshire puddings are his favourite part of a Christmas dinner. What? I've never had them for Christmas. Never. Sunday lunch yes of course, I'll probably have two...but on Jesus' birthday? Nah. Anyone else include them? TonyTonyTony
This is a very important question (no sarcasm). My in laws cannot fathom Yorkshires on their plates when they have Xmas dinner at our house.

I want to be clear: Yorkshires are delicious and I am absolutely in favour of their general existence and consumption. However, Christmas dinner is a unique meal and they weren't part of it in the house I grew up in. I was surprised to learn that some people had them. TonyTonyTony
Bread Source is also a requirement, and we are sprout free. Controversial
View from the Dolman
Feels like this has become a thing over the last few years. They were never part of Christmas dinner with my parents but then they appeared 3 or so years back to my surprise.

nebristolred
You're missing the poll option for big YES to Yorkshires and the sprouts ****ing off. If anything Jesus' birthday warrants more Yorkshires. It's what he would have wanted. Edited December 15, 2023 by nebristolred

ralphindevon
There are far better and tastier things to fill you up on Christmas Day than Yorkshire pudding. But each to their own I suppose.

Hate Turkey...bloody Yank tradition..anything but Turkey Sprouts in cream, bacon, garlic and parmesan crust I can deal with.

Beef on our table too on 25th with Yorkshire's and Colemans English Mustard. Much tastier than turkey in my opinion. And plenty of sprouts. I've never liked parsnips though.

Horseradish, English mustard and Cranberry. Most people I know go for a roast dinner that they like. Not many having Turkey. This year it's planned... Roast Rib of beef. Roast spuds Mash with truffle oil. Yorkshire's. Pigs...I know... Roast carrots in honey and rosemary. Roast parsnips. Roasted onions. Red cabbage in apple and balsamic. Roasted Sprouts cut into a garlic, cream, bacon Source and baked with a parmesan crust. Lashings of homemade gravy. Red and white wine. Cheese board later with port. Snoozing all evening afterwards. 4

Turkey, potatoes, pigs in blankets, sprouts, carrots, parsnips, red cabbage (made boiled in cider), bread Source, stuffing, gravy. TonyTonyTony
Mashed potato should be nowhere near a Xmas dinner. That is a criminal offence
Barrs Court Red
No, because we’re not savages. However, that’s the adult plates. The kids will probably have Yorkshires. In our house, starters generally consist of a choice of Terrine. The main course will be sliced Turkey, honey roasted parsnips, goose fat roast potatoes…and an array of veg. *edit* forgot pigs in blankets. They’re a a must have. One of the things I love about Christmas dinner is getting a “sword” of sprouts - it’s faff to peel, it’s not great value but it’s a once in a year thing - pretty much like roasting a turkey*. Also, no Turkey is not “a yank tradition” for Christmas dinner. * I did one try also smoking a Turkey at Easter. Never again, complete disaster.
