Indifferent half. A good spell of play after the goal where we looked threatening going forward and then we’ve dropped off a yard and let Sunderland back in it. Defensively not convincing. Like some of the recent games having accessed the opposition over the first 45, I’d be disappointed if we don’t pick up 3 points here. These are the games we should be winning.

Momentum has deffo swung Sunderland’s way as the half went on , I usually find with city it will stay that way until Sunderland score then as if by magic city will then wrestle back some sort of momentum, it’s imperative we get some sort of control early doors 2nd half , if it stays like this I can see Sunderland running out not just with a point but all 3

again some really good spells of football but not for long enough

Alternative is to hoof it and lose possession. We just need to be better at it.

We don't have to do it every time. It shouldn't be keep possession at all costs.

We need to be better at understanding when to hold and when to go long.

I'm not suggesting we go long every time, but we are playing ourselves into pressure way way too much.

Good first half to watch.  City just shading the opening half hour, and just about deserving to be ahead.  But last 10-15 mins of first half have been a tough period to navigate.

Having said all of that, we should be 2 pens ahead (not red card - double jeopardy).

Knight impressive (copy and paste), Tanner solid.  TGH shoeing why he needs to play most weeks.  Mehmeti bright, unlucky to hit post, linking well with Pring.

Midfield space huge.  Think Knight has to drop in and help more beyond the initial phase of the press.

Need a strong start to second half, don’t want us chasing shadows.

100%.

Bit concerning that we were increasingly trying to foul to break down attacks. It's a sign of losing control of the game.

Do you reckon we're giving them too much respect?

Not too much respect....more uncertain of our own ability. Its a confidence and composure issue....need to make better decisions to alleviate pressure on ourselves. All their opportunities come from simple errors from us that invite pressure (meaning we then have the burden of regain)

Well we are looking better up front but very porous at the back. They are walking the ball into the box

Will do well to keep this lead

Oh  it's ******* freezing 🥶

It's not freezing, it's great conditions for a game of football!

Little things like Sykes getting back alongside Tanner against Clarke, but then stopping and leaving Clarke 1v1.  Pring and Mehmeti doing much better as a pair on the other side, but Alf Roberts and some great tekkers.
