Would I take a quality, proven premier league manager as our next? Uhhh, yes.Β

I think there are only two people who wouldn’t… Steve & Jon. He’d be far too outspoken.Β

This. Given all he’s done at West Ham we’d be mad not to have him if the opportunity arose; although I don’t think it ever will mind you.

Was very complementary of the Club, the City etc in the programme. Would love him to be our next manager, but feels highly unlikely (unless Manning gets us promoted and then is pinched by another club).Β

Yes we all know why you would have him back M. 🀣

I couldn't resist writing that response πŸ˜„

In absolute honesty I am resigned to the fact that ship has sailed a loooong time ago. Heart says 'absolutely' but sadly sensible head says 'no'.

Will the replay be the first time he`ll have been back to AG for a game since he left us? I suppose he might have been back as manager of PNE or Everton but can`t recall.

Everton in the cup 20 years ago or so.

I’m sure we could have had him as manager once but after a boardroom split we went for Pulis instead?Β πŸ˜…

…..or am I mixing my stories and that was Peter Taylor?

Been there done that! No one wants anyone that knows anything at our club for sure!

Ask @Curr Avon, I seem to remember that Pulis told him the whole story when he was researching for the Ashton Eight Booklet. 🀣

A question that’s been regularly asked since he almost got the job 25 years ago.

That's right. City wanted him and made a formal approach to PNE, but their Directors refused City permission to speak to their Manager.

Another great What If... moment.
