The Mardyke in Hotwells with the Bear almost opposite are good for prematch pints. The Mardyke in particular is usually a bit cheaper and both within easy walk of AG. 
The Coopers and the Rising Sun on Ashton Rd both get very busy on a matchday so probably best to avoid them

My personal choice would be the Mardyke.

Hi Bart. 
Do you guys have any rivalry with Royal Antwerp? 
We have a couple of Antwerp fans who come over and watch us quite regularly (a strange connection that started with an online disagreement after they visited us for a friendly but ended with a good friendship - a few of us were treated very well when we visited Antwerp too). 
 

For pubs - guess it depends what you’re looking for. 
The Mardyke was suggested above - good cheap pub that is often frequented pre match by ‘lads’. 
The Nova Scotia is a nice pub with outdoor seating by the river. Your more discerning gentleman would be present here. 
El Rincon (otherwise known as The Spanish Bar) is a small pub but the lads in there are great and here you’ll find some of the Section 82 lads (those who you’d likely call Tifosi). I’m sure they’d make you feel welcome. @James
For just a more normal pub near the ground there’s the Rising Sun or The Robins. 
And course nowadays there is the Fan Zone at the ground with lots of food and drink available. 
 

Loads of other pubs and bars, especially on North Street for before and after.

It was my understanding they don't get on. However, Wes took me to a Club Bruges game and stood with me in their home end, so can't be that bad

Definitely recommend the orchard. Great selection of ciders, ale straight from the barrel and some nice lagers plus lovely pub grub. Good atmosphere too but get there early if you want a seat! 

The Avon Packet has a good atmosphere too and friendly and can't go far wrong with the Hen n Chicken on North Street.

We have a massive rivalry with Antwerp.

Our biggest rivals are Anderlecht, but since Antwerp is back in the top league, they're a close second.

It's especially Antwerp that hates our guts.

This rivalry is fueled by the fact that the presidents of both clubs are real estate tycoons who hate eachother to the bone.

The president of Antwerp tried to build the national stadium, but was blocked by the president of Club Bruges influence in the board of the football federation.

The president of Club Bruges tried to build a new stadium for Club Bruges, but was blocked by the fact the Antwerp president bought land bourdering the new stadium ground, just to block the permit...

If your friends are proper Antwerp fans, they wouldn't want to be in the same room with us.  That's how deep it goes.

If you are driving there are no realistic free parking options as residents parking zones are everywhere. You can, however, park for free at Portway Park and Ride and get a bus to the stadium. Alternatively, you could park at the Long Ashton Park and Ride which is about a 20 minute walk away from the ground.

Don't get me started on Brexit  !   I've had to close our Ostend branch (was Belgian manager of a Dutch transport company specialised in carpets) and fire 22 people  due to the fact that we needed to create customs documents for the UK.  It became too expensive to consolidate all goods in trucks in Ostend and do weekly trips direct to the UK customer.  Now the UK customer gets their goods 2 times slower and 30 % more expensive directly from Holland...  That's progress I guess
