Gazred
If they had a trial by jury i reckon he might stand a chance to convince that it was an accident (even if it wasn't). With just a judge and a couple of advisors, i reckon he's screwed.

Guest
No doubt he can feel remorse and cry about what he did. Doesn't mean he's innocent. I still see he has to prove beyond any reasonable doubt it was an accident otherwise he's guilty - he's already admitted shooting her. Also worth remembering he's not got a jury to make feel sorry for him, but just a judge who you think will have seen a fair bit of this over the years... Oxford Red
Already been said he had anger issues and he thought she was having an affair pushed him over the edge imo. I thought that but then when you actually hear the details of some of these incidents, he behaved like a lot of people would. The guns thing though - well that has to be taken in a South African context to be fair.
Cambridge Batch Red
Was he drug and alcohol tested on his arrest? This sort of 'mistake' could be explained by him being out of his box on booze and prescription drugs. Could happen to anybody.

Esmond Million's Bung
Quite EMB. Do you think he'll go for the pencils up the nose and say wibble to get himself off? The good news is mate, As far as Pistorious is concerned, I watched a small portion of his sobbing hollywood 'Oscar' acceptance speech yesterday and the judge looked bored and totally unconvinced. I wonder if in closing his defence will play the reverse 'race' card in this case.
RedM
I think it's actually dawned on him the future he faces, either banged up or forever tormented. I don't like to think he actually intended to kill her, but find it impossible to believe otherwise. Even in pitch darkness you can sense if a person is next to you in bed, he must have known she wasn't there. Anyway he shot 4 times through a door, whether his girlfriend or an intruder was behind it it doesn't make it right. Ok, an intruder shouldn't be there but I really wouldn't want to live in a country where your first actions are to have to reach for a gun. The problem is, he does live in a country like that, and shooting someone over there is not the same as shooting someone over here. Very few of us have guns, we live in relative safety, and South Africa, I know for a fact, is nothing like that. The fear is much more prevalent and in the same situation, who knows, I might panic and do the same thing if I have a firearm with me. It's not that simple I'm afraid. Major Isewater
Ok ,his defence is that he thought it was an intruder. So ,is it ok ? To fire blindly at something or some one ? I don 't think he's got a leg to stand on.

Gazred
He got a right grilling this morning. As the prosecution put it to him, he doesn't accept responsibility for any part of this. He's also been contradicting statements made by 2 others under oath, even going as far as to claim they lied. Accident or not, he's got one hell of a fight on his hands to not be done for outright murder.

This sort of 'mistake' could be explained by him being out of his box on booze and prescription drugs. Could happen to anybody. He was absolutely legless! Seems guilty to me. Why was he firing shots when he wasn't sure who he was firing at? Why has he not taken responsibility for his actions, even if they were in error? Even if, as you say, he was off his head - he is still responsible. Makes me think that either a) the whole thing was pre-contrived or b) he impulsively lost the plot. Just can not see him being found innocent.

Red-Robbo
If you go to the loo in the night with your partner as the only person in the house, do you lock the door? Reeva did. It seems to me the most likely reason for that is that he chased her into the loo after a heated argument caused by his well-documented extreme jealousy. He was so furious with her locking the door that he fired into the loo. Another thing that he has no explanation for is why he told the gate security guy that there was no problem after the guy contacted him after reports of gunfire. So, what was that gunfire then - and how come the awake Pistorius didn't hear it? If his story is to be believed, he shot Reeva 30 minutes later, no residents heard those shots, then he phoned up the gate security distraught and crying - only after a lengthy call to his best mate though. Guilty as sin.
Kid in the Riot
Just heard it on the radio, they absolutely battered him. You almost feel they could get a confession. It's torturous to listen to, you're right though this prosecution lawyer is going to keep going and going until he gets as close to a confession as he can. Apparently he has previously cross examined a defendant for 8 days, so he's only just getting started with Oscar...
