  1. I think they've probably signed on to some sort of Netflix series deal that covers the whole episode/trial. As well as publishing deals with magazines, newspapers the whole lot. There is something else driving the need for this to go to trial, other than just their own egos
  2. Sorry Dave, who is this?
  3. Reading the case now. From my understanding, RV has basically conceded that her PR person leaks the stories, but that she didn't tell her to do it. The PR person has conveniently lost her mobile phone with loads of incriminating messages in the North sea, only 4 days after a judge ordered her to hand it over ( blast those big waves that knocked it out of her hand); and is now off with some sort of unspecified mental health problem; and withdrawn her statement to the court that allegedly massively incriminates RV. RV's WhatsApp account that normally backs up all of her messages to her cloud has also strangely stopped working around the time the Judge ordered that as well; oh well these things happen ? . To say this case sounds like a Shaggy song is an understatement.
  4. The fees these civil law QCs charge are insane. Typically a QC on criminal law case for Homicide or likewise offence will be £2-3k per day at Court. Expert witnesses charge by the hour for their reports (Around £250-£500 per hour compiling the report), as well as up to £5k per day at court (Plus hotels, travel & expenses). Because this is a private civil case. The Qc's will be charging £10-15k per day to be at court!!!! Plus you will be paying extra for their solicitors, paralegals present; and everything else. You can see why so many QC's don't do criminal law anymore. This case now has snowballed to such an extent, it's less about the compensation the winner will get (apparently only 40k max); and more about who picks up the enormous legal bills for both parties. You can see the Judge pleading with both parties to sort it out before this happens, to no avail. I think the loser of this will probably be bankrupted by the costs involved (probably multi millions now). A lot to play for .....?
  5. God, how many times did he "fall over" against us in the home game? Left a bit of a bad impression on me, with his antics. I think he went down badly looking for a penalty as well at one point.
  6. Whilst thankful to Gregor for this interview. I think the one we all want to hear is "What went wrong that caused a record breaking L1 promotion campaign manager to being sacked in under 6 months?" That would make for a great popcorn interview I reckon
  7. Quick question, probably for @shahanshahan? How does it work with Player's contracts in the Woman's game? I'm guessing at Championship level, there are no real transfer fees as such; and player's pretty much have the freedom to move if approached by a team say in the WSL? I only ask really in relation to Abi Harrision. Surely a WSL team will take a chance on her next season? Given how well the City team have performed this season, is it not beyond the realms of reason that other players will also get poached. Just like what happened when we were relegated. Would be a shame to start next season with a whole new team once again.
  8. Would have loved to have seen how your views on the effectiveness of Linesman would have translated to the hushed corners of the Lansdown ?
  9. That would involve some serious outlay of around £1.5 m in wages for Wells, and £1m for Palmer wouldn't it? Ultimately someone has to pick up the bill. I think Nagy was very open about the move, and probably facilitated it happening financially. Maybe Wells will be willing to compromise a little bit of his promised wages at 32. But i can't see Palmer at 25; and probably on his last big contract walking away from any contracted salary in a hurry.
  10. Someone who went up North isn't it @GrahamC?
  11. Quite a large difference in outlay isn't it? Given Birmingham's financial issues, and a ground that is half shut for safety issues; i'm surprised they would the money to get that application over the line. Looks like they're just going to lose Bellingham's brother Jobe , for next to nothing as well. He played them (16 years of age) at the weekend.
  12. He did well when he came on against Huddersfield I thought. Certainly has something about him. I'm surprised that a L1 or L2 club didn't pick him up after the left Grimsby. His agent must have done well to get him a trial at Brimingham after that.
  13. Just like my last post, I'm sure that Palmer would look top class in L1. But his current wages situation kind of precludes any team from that divison coming in for him (unless we take a massive hit on him of course). How many teams passed on him in the Championship before? Huddersfield, Blackburn & Derby off the top of my head. God that transfer window when we have £14m to Chelsea for Kalas, JD & of course Palmer has really come back to hit us hard hasn't it?
  14. I think there is a huge gap in standard between the Championship and L1. Gone are the days when the teams that came up, find themselves in the playoffs (I'm still not over 2008). The L1 teams coming up automatically (Rotherham and Wigan) have both yoyo'd between the divisions a number of times. The same goes for players of course. Eisa, Symodics, Walsh, Moore at Blackpool, Vyner at Rotherham all looked decent at a certain level; but when it came to the Championship were found wanting in my opinion. The same conundrum applies for Bakinson. He's looked decent at times for both Plymouth and now Ipswich (fantastic goal for them the other day) But his general passiveness is exposed massively in the championship. Yes, he got 4 goals for us last season, but his overall play is not of the required standard to progress. Swansea have taken a chance on Walsh this season (as have Hull of course) based on what in theory he is capable of. I'm sure we'll get offers for Bakinson over the summer. But any championship club taking him on, will be shipping him out on loan to L1 within 6 months. Some players just find the level that they are comfortable playing at.
  15. Thanks @Davefevs for the figures. Just like a certain podcaster, stats don't always paint the full picture do they. I've just renewed by eldest's ST alongside mine in E32. Mine was £545, his was of course £150. I see the under 12's in the South stand are only £55, what great value for kids that is. With all the reduces STs, I reckon the true figure of full paying ST holders could me as low as 6-7k in my opinion. Gone are the days of clubs about level relying on them to fund the next season. Using your figures above, even at it's peak; the income would have paid about 10% of our players wages for 20/21 season. I think next season the club should look at the POTD prices a bit more. Mine averages out at around £23 per game. I have no issue with POTD being around the £30 Mark. £39 in the Dolman centre is a tad too high though in my opinion.
  16. Too kind @GrahamC. Yep, I was on my way back from Huddersfield so couldn't be live on this one. I did try and make some points early on, on the chat element of podbean about trying not to be kneejerk in reaction to an away defeat against a very good team; but unfortunately it's difficult to have add any form of balance to the debate if you're not live on it. I only listened to the first 10-15 mins, before mobile data cut out on the M42. I didn't agree with a lot of points raised from what I heard, but heh; that's opinions. @billywedlock respect your views on the podcast. But reading the feedback on these topics; this seems like thus was an edition that perhaps allowed negativity to get somewhat out of control. I think in recent months, most of the views on the podcast have been reasoned, and well discussed. Yes, there will be some by Ian in particular that i just laugh at; but at times he's just a panto comedy villain in my eyes ?. Setting that aside, I still think it's generally a good broadcast; and @headhunter has done some brilliant interviews with the likes of Alan Dicks, Joe Royle and Rob Newman in recent months. I hope to do some reviews with David over the summer of the season. Personally I think there are a number of positives to the season, whilst acknowledging that results haven't always been the best. Fascinating summer transfer window ahead as well. Lots of twists and turns I reckon. If Brownhill, and or Webster goes for big money; it could also transform our summer.
  17. Still on my way back from the game. Personally for me Atkinson was our MOM (admittedly a low bar), all about opinions of course; Klose and Cundy were also good. We just came up against a very good team that have won 6 and drawn 1 of their last 7. Great to see Tanner back, and he put in some good tackles; and of course freed up Scott to go back in CM where he made a difference from an ineffectual Massengo. Colville, and Sarr in particular were excellent at the back for them; as was Rusell in CM, really big strong players. Would love to be Sarr with us, but he will have much better offers of course. What Huddersfield did well today, us tgat they didn't let us break on them really at any time. The only real break was when Martin robbed the ball second half, and Semenyeo ran offside by running to the left, rather than a through ball down the middle as a 2 v 1. They were content to allow us to have the ball, safe in the knowledge that we are not a possession team; and don't really have the players to break down teams that way. The amount of times we were in their final third, but ended up going back to Bentley was absurd. It left the WSM trying to work by themselves to create things. I saw all three of them constantly making diagonal runs that weren't picked out by the rest of the team. Semenyeo was also lax in some of his passing. Great chance for James at the end, which would have been nice for a consolation. Scott made a difference for me in the middle, at least he was on the front foot when he got possession, and nearly got through on a couple of occasions. If I don't see the needless 360 degree turn from Massengo when he gets possession again I will be glad. I get that people like his enthusiasm and drive, but he has zero product, doesn't follow his player defensively; and is often a bystander. Over rated, but as I said above all about opinions.?
  18. I heard about it on Saturday during the game. He still lives in Portishead, and his lad is at the North Somerset Academy that train at the Hand Stadium by me in Clevedon. He's indicated he wants to stay local for a multitude of reasons; and has apparently massively reduced his wage demands to allow this to happen. No guarantee's of course, and players can change their minds/get better offers (just like some players last summer). But as a back up, on a lower wage and for potentially only 1 season; I think it's a low risk signing. Likewise, with King. Giving him a contract for on the pitch alone is probably not worthwhile. But by all accounts, it's a part playing/part coaching contract; low cost, and hopefully of benefit to the club as a whole. Not particularly Gucci signings, but those would only come I think on the basis of some serious sales, or sell ons from our Prem/future Prem ex players.
  19. It was me, yes. Although the Lansdowns have been looking for "investment" for a number of years. I don't believe they've been actively trying to sell the club. The Sports quarter appears to be some sort of long term legacy; and after/if it is built; it's not unreasonable to think that may be the time when the family might want to move on. The football club is obviously key to the whole development, and I just can't see a sale of the club would not jeopardise in some way the viability of the whole project.
  20. I don't get the Moore link. Yes, he would be on a list of potential CBs out of contract; but surely the first choice would be to sign up Klose/Cundy & Idehen.; and then see where we are with Kalas, Moore and Vyner? From my perspective Moore is far too similar to the aforementioned players, and would possibly be looked at as a plan b or even a plan c option. Why would NP need to scout Moore as well? He's seen him at two clubs already. He knows what Moore is about. As for Sykes, interesting player on the way up in his career. On paper would be an intesting addition. But where does that leave Scott, if we're looking to possibly move him back into the CM slot next season? Unless of course Scott is off??? All fun this, isn't it? ?
  21. Completely understand @ExiledAjax. I doff my proverbial cap to people like you @Hxj @Mr Popodopolous and of course @Davefevs who have a handle on the finances. I try to not give an opinion on finances, other that from my somewhat low base position the operating costs at the club are far far too high, for someone of our stature. We could fill AG every week and still post an 8 figure loss. I'm guessing the nitty gritty of keeping these costs under control wasn't Gucci enough for our past Chief Executive, and things were allowed to run riot on the basis of "oh well, we'll just sell another player" Reaping the whirlwind now of course, as does any company/individual who overextended themselves without firm foundations.
  22. I am Neil. I enjoy doing the podcasts, but will only do them really after watching City live, as i don't think highlights or tv coverage can do justice to the amount of things that happen off screen. Unfortunately due to the reactive nature of my work, and working 1 week in 4, I can't always commit to them in advance. I'm sure @headhunter & @Curr Avon (who are both great) would love other people to come on to the podcasts; and we all do respect each other's point of views. Ian has some really good things to say, there are some things I disagree with, but that's all about opinions. I like the fact that people also post some really good points on the live chat as well during the recordings. Fascinating summer ahead, with I reckon massive twists and turns in the transfer market; squad developments right up to the 30th July start.
  23. Thanks for clarifying @ExiledAjax. I knew someone would know better than me. The issue with COD was that Ian was saying exercise his option, not sign on reduced terms. If his option was quite low in wages (like Bakinsons), it would make some sense. Just like it did in the end taking up Eliason's option a few years ago. However on his current wages, and probably nobody willing to offer us anything for him, it's got to be the biggest no brainer of the summer to let him go.
  24. I did say that I think single handedly Lewis-potter had about 5-6 of the shots as he was trying to score worldeys. The bit we spoke about COD has aged well, after the Post article this morning ???. I sometimes think the Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and in full swing when i do the podcasts.? https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-dunning-kruger-effect-4160740
  25. Fair point @Davefevs Maybe I should have phrased it as purpose, and application to his pace; and power. It's now directed in a way that is having positive results.
