Watching BBC news now. Hopes fading as we knew, still searching. UK involved as plane was coming here but also have to coordinate with France as that’s where the plane took off and Argentina as he was Argentinian. Also said the plane was UK owned but registered in the US so liaising with them too. Very complicated. A flight plan would have to have been submitted so looking at that too.

This is from the BBC site, the person quoted is the Cardiff City Chairman: The "family of football has a way of coming together at times of tragedy," Mr Dalman told BBC Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales programme. He also confirmed that the club had not booked the plane for the trip, adding that Sala had "made his own arrangements". "We will not leave a single stone unturned until we have all the facts," added Mr Dalman.
  3. They will be busting a gut to get to the final and be seen on tv and hope another club will rescue them. #PlayerAid

I can only quote about hot air balloons as I know about them, but they have a yearly MOT, a C of A ( certificate of airworthiness). The pilots also log every flying hour it does in a log book. I guess it’s the same or stricter for any aircraft. Hot air pilots also do a load of pre flight checks, testing all equipment throughly and also a full visual check of the balloon, basket etc. Even if they have flown earlier that day they do the checks throughly again if they fly a few hours later, it’s something drummed into them, they don’t cut corners. Many passengers might think the pilot is ignoring their questions, but it’s because he/she is concentrating on safety. I would think any pilot of any aircraft would do the same. Obviously things can suddenly fail, the helicopter of the Leicester owner a couple of months ago. Each flying craft has a registration G- xxxx if they are registered in the UK, there are websites you can look up ownership etc, sometimes details such as lightening strikes are noted. The message you quote is alarming of course, but this was probably the smallest plane the player had ever been on. Every rattle is going to be more frightening compared to a jumbo jet. I’m in no way dismissing his concerns, which have been proven, but just saying most people wouldn’t find it a comfortable experience I don’t think. i am surprised such small planes are used to fly at night. Not saying if something was going to happen leaving it a few hours later until daylight would have had a different outcome, but surely the darkness didn’t help the search and rescue. I know they have thermal imaging etc. A very sad situation for all involved.

It’s times like this we simply have to put club rivalries aside. We are just part of one big football family after all. And on a wider scale I hope we all share human compassion.

Just about the only hope in this is that the Channel is said to be the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Plenty of people will be looking. I can’t imagine what the wait for news must be like for friends and family of all concerned.
  7. I saw on the local news this morning that due to the Period Poverty scheme they are providing free female hygiene products in the ladies loos for those who need them. This seems to be big news for them. Just wanted to add, for those of you who don’t frequent the ladies loos at Ashton Gate, that our club has been doing this for ages, last season at least. Once again the Gas are miles behind.
  8. I quite like their new manager, lovely accent and chatting nineteen to the dozen on the local news earlier. I wanted them to have another Dopey twunk who I wouldn’t like, this bloke seems too good for them at the moment. He is the previous defensive coach, so God only knows what he is doing now but couldn’t before. He says just giving them a bit of confidence has done the trick, so whatever did Dopey do to them. Anyway, hopefully the Honeymoon period is over.
  9. It was pretty packed, couldn't see many spare seats and the queues for the bars and the loos were as bad as anything I’ve seen for a big football match. I took a couple of photos just before KO and it filled up even more after. It was an ugly win, but as in football a win is a win. The rugby atmosphere is weird compared to football but the crowd did get quite passionate occasionally. Two grumbles. Really fed up with the amount of people walking in and out all the time, drinking and going to the loo constantly. Watch the match you silly sods! And, no sign of the mentioned mince pies by the time I left anyway.
  10. This first half was as bad as the football. Hsrdly done a thing right and barely out of our half. Making Newcastle look like world beaters, with a great deal of assistance from the Ref. The 2nd must be better Oh they just announced a free mince pie for all on the way out...my sfyernoon is looking up
  11. Think the crowd is expected to be 17000 now.
  12. Yup, today’s win for Bath and a narrow loss for Newcastle doesn’t help.
  13. He’s not quite up to miracles like that I don’t think
  14. I don’t know if you have seen the discusion on another thread, but my unicorn is awarded to the post of the highest order, not for any other reason
  15. Cotterill has always struck me as a manager who liked spending money, yes wheeling and dealing but spending. Yes he may have done really well at Cheltenham without spending but I don’t think he will want to go back to begging for loans, selling assets and having his hands tied. I know a lot of managers do this but there are loans and there are loans, just as there are times you have to accept offers for players to further their careers rather than because you desperately need the cash. I think Cotterill will belive he is beyond this type of club, that he’s done his time at that level and won’t go back. By that level I mean a plotless club with little or no facilities, League one or two clubs on the up with decent ground and investment might be appealing if we wants a project maybe.
  16. My understanding is that he has a place in Dubai and spends a lot of time there. Also, again I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but on tv last night they said he was at one of their matches recently, but at a guest of the opposition team. I don’t know if the rumours of him being interested are because of this sighting, but even then they are straw clutching I think.
  17. I’ve not read all through the posts of today so appologies if anyone has already commented, but didn’t he age over the four years or so. He looks pretty haggard now even compared to the promotion footage shown on the news. Best out of it I think, leave them to rot.* *I’ve got no love for him by the way, he has said and done some stupid things but I guess in this Season of Goodwill it’s hard to kick a bloke when he is down...kicking a club however is totally different!
  18. Exactly, if you are some wizz marketing guru salesman and can conjure up a buyer from that, then you deserve your salary.
  19. That’s not actually the part of the quote that stand out to me. It’s the fact they think they are attractive to an investor because they have a interesting backstory with their nicknames and have a unique kit. Wtf, they are in a worse mess than I thought if that’s a strong selling point.
  20. Whilst being tightly squeezed somewhere? As you say though it’s odd he says this then goes on to mention the bits that aren’t right.
  21. Is that true though, the mid table budget bit not the underperforming? I would be very surprised if they are paying League One average wages for the squad they have assembled, all freebies and misfits.
  22. I don’t think Dopey should take it so personal. NO manager will get a training ground etc, it’s just not happening. Everyone knows that, expect their deluded fans who are still hanging onto their pipe dreams as that’s preferable than facing reality. Dopey is asking for the sack. Let’s see how Wally feels about him going so public about their situation. Dopey’s stock is so low that no other club will want him unless he wants to go back to Non League or at best League Two where he will be employed to get a club promoted. The Gas cannot afford to sack him, the relationship between the parties has broken down. There are no winners here ( yes I am enjoying this). Like LJ he has had his best players sold, but unlike LJ hasn’t been backed at all regarding replacements. LJ is expected to achieve more with less, Dopey is expected to do the same with nothing!
