  1. Ha ha handball when he thought he had the foul
  2. I don’t know how much more I can watch of this match, they keep showing Trampy and he turns my stomach.
  3. Well either Worcester were really bad or Newcastle played a blinder as I couldn’t work out why Newcastle are propping up the table. Thought Flood played really well, and a couple of others. Bristol have a bit of confidence now though.
  4. Great game, really enjoyed that. We have been close in so many games, thought we were going to be cruelly denied at the death again tonight. And we won a trophy too! Bed now and on to Preston And none of the officials noticed!
  5. Certainly need a win, tough, tough game. I’m just hoping I don’t see a thrashing tonight and again at Preston tomorrow I don’t mind ‘impact players’ as it sounds like they are there for a reason, subs always sound like they are second best, didn’t make the team, which is what they are I guess ( in both football and rugby). ‘Impact players’ sound like they have a role to play, are needed which is nice.
  6. Can’t take the credit for that I don’t think, sounds too intelligent and thought out for me.
  7. Never got going until after HT, the young lad making his debut I think only lasted a few minutes, later in the half could be seen sat watching from the subs bench with his arm in a hefty support sling and someone trying to wrap a coat around him, think it is his elbow not shoulder but what a shame for him. I think he was playing as we have five already out injured in that position, as @JBFC IIsays above, so I guess that didn’t help us. Wasps had a massive player who stopped everything, sorry don’t know his name but rugby fans must know who I mean. Horrible injury to Billy Searle, showed it once on the screen before they realised they perhaps shouldn’t have. Don’t want to see it again, even the Ref commented on how nasty it was. I think that injury affected Wasps and for a while after we caught them cold. Remember our football players being the same a few times, especially as Searle was recently with us. He did get applause from everyone in the ground. Had to be broken or dislocated ankle I would think. Second half we deserved at least a losing bonus point, if not a draw.

Also there might be info, now evidence, in any conversations the pilot had with Air Traffic Control. Did I read somewhere that he had requested to land in Gurnsey? He surely would have said why. Sadly he didn’t make it of course.

Me too. Once the funerals, hopefully there will be two, have passed and money and payments take the place of shock, loss and grieving I can see this being dragged on for years. Who knew about what, who is owed what and where does the fault lie. I guess much hinges depending on whether the player was doing something authorised, whether him being flown was insured or allowed, and by whom. Also the accident investigation will show what happened hopefully, faulty plane or pilot error. Until then though there is another family waiting for the return of their loved one who like Sala was only doing his job. These are the victims of a much greedier bunch.

Sounds like corners were cut in a murky world where everyone wants a slice of the vast amounts of money that is sloshing around, with no real thought to the player who has now paid the ultimate price. How most people involved in this can come out of this with a clear conscious now it’s been confirmed that lives were lost is beyond me. RIP

I actually have no knowledge of this, maybe I do have powers and abilities I’m yet to discover

Do I? That’s news to me. But thank you anyway, it’s the first time anyone has ever said I had a wonderful technique, made my day that has! Unicorn awarded. PS with the news of the wreckage emerging at least the families might have their loved ones back.
  14. And would be no doubt aware that we might be taking an interest in this result
  15. To be fair he’s going to get as much stick as they’ve ever given out. He loves being the centre of attention so I’m predicting a hat trick at least

In reply to May posts above, possible down to whether the mode of transport was allowable for insurance purposes, as I said helicopter rides for pleasure, motorbikes and equally dangerous hobbies parachute jumps, even skiing are often not permitted for many footballers, actors and other people ‘worth’ money. Also would a private pilot be insured to carry such a person, whether he would be paid to do so or not. He would have his own public liability insurance, they may claim against him but they would only pay out I guess if he was doing something he was authorised to do, and I’m not saying he wasn’t. This whole situation is very strange. Makes me wonder how many footballers etc travel this way, and I’m sure many people will now review their arrangements. Yes I know people could just as easily, or are more likely to be hit by a bus but I’m not sure why this player chose to do what he did, or had it chosen for him. Was time of the essence and he needed to be back for training? No doubt more will come out over time, but right now it looks certain two lives were lost and that’s tragic enough.

Just saw on BBC tv that the pilot only holds a private licence. Would not have been able to charge a fee for flying passengers, not that there is any indication that he did I add. Commercial pilots do have stricter terms regarding licences etc than private pilots, again as far as I know from ballooning

Going back to the insurance thing, would the player even be insured. I guess so but there are often restrictions placed on ‘valuable assets’, eg no travelling in a helicopter, no using a jet ski, no owning a motorbike etc. Would a small plane be on one of the restricted lists? I guess not if the Agent representative was ferrying him around, if that’s true, but it made me wonder. So sad for all concerned that there is no news, must be absolute agony waiting but surely now there can’t still be any hope only closure, and they might not ever get that. So cruel.
  19. But he plays for Peterborough Edit; He’s Just moved there?

Watching BBC news now. Hopes fading as we knew, still searching. UK involved as plane was coming here but also have to coordinate with France as that’s where the plane took off and Argentina as he was Argentinian. Also said the plane was UK owned but registered in the US so liaising with them too. Very complicated. A flight plan would have to have been submitted so looking at that too.

This is from the BBC site, the person quoted is the Cardiff City Chairman: The "family of football has a way of coming together at times of tragedy," Mr Dalman told BBC Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales programme. He also confirmed that the club had not booked the plane for the trip, adding that Sala had "made his own arrangements". "We will not leave a single stone unturned until we have all the facts," added Mr Dalman.
  22. They will be busting a gut to get to the final and be seen on tv and hope another club will rescue them. #PlayerAid

I can only quote about hot air balloons as I know about them, but they have a yearly MOT, a C of A ( certificate of airworthiness). The pilots also log every flying hour it does in a log book. I guess it’s the same or stricter for any aircraft. Hot air pilots also do a load of pre flight checks, testing all equipment throughly and also a full visual check of the balloon, basket etc. Even if they have flown earlier that day they do the checks throughly again if they fly a few hours later, it’s something drummed into them, they don’t cut corners. Many passengers might think the pilot is ignoring their questions, but it’s because he/she is concentrating on safety. I would think any pilot of any aircraft would do the same. Obviously things can suddenly fail, the helicopter of the Leicester owner a couple of months ago. Each flying craft has a registration G- xxxx if they are registered in the UK, there are websites you can look up ownership etc, sometimes details such as lightening strikes are noted. The message you quote is alarming of course, but this was probably the smallest plane the player had ever been on. Every rattle is going to be more frightening compared to a jumbo jet. I’m in no way dismissing his concerns, which have been proven, but just saying most people wouldn’t find it a comfortable experience I don’t think. i am surprised such small planes are used to fly at night. Not saying if something was going to happen leaving it a few hours later until daylight would have had a different outcome, but surely the darkness didn’t help the search and rescue. I know they have thermal imaging etc. A very sad situation for all involved.

It’s times like this we simply have to put club rivalries aside. We are just part of one big football family after all. And on a wider scale I hope we all share human compassion.
