  1. First time I’ve been to watch the woman’s team. Took my little girl for her first experience of Ashton Gate, as well as her brother, who is now a regular! Really enjoyed it & so did the kids. Was impressed with some of City’s play, especially first half & probably should of added to their 1-0 lead. Started the second half sloppily & seemed to drop their tempo, as well as being a bit disjointed at times. Was impressed with City’s number 4, Layzell, she reads the game well & always looked comfortable. Aimee Palmer also stood out in the middle of the pitch. Abi Harrison & Shania Hayles in particular looked good, but maybe lack that bit of pace to go along with their ability. For Southampton, their number 20 stood out as their best player for me. All in all a good experience & will no doubt take the kids again. COYR

  2. Ive said it before, but timing is everything in football ( & life ) & I think Nige is enjoying his time here. I think we needed someone like Nige, but I also think we were what Nige was looking for. He originally said that City was a really interesting club ( or words to that affect). That’s why I think he, as much as us, originally wanted a short term contract to eye each other up. He knows this is as stable a club as he’ll probably find, a club that more than most will give him the time he would need to really build something. Hopefully navigating last season & this season financially will see us in a much healthier position next season. It feels to me that he has total control of the football operations, everyone seems to know their jobs in the club. He can also see the talent that is coming through & he is certainly giving the impression that he’s really enjoying moulding/guiding these young players. He gets the opportunity to really build something here & when his time comes ( as it will ), I get the impression he wants the next man to have an easier job than he did. So in short, no I don’t think Leicester would be tempting enough to leave us for & that is some statement! COYR

It happens when either of the Welsh clubs or Milwall, the Baggies and Brum are at AG.

It would also happen if Swindon or the gas were at AG but City don’t play either of them………..:rofl2br:

Not so sure on that, I park on the trading estate ( next to Babcock International )& that is where I’ve always known the away coaches park. Against Cardiff, we walked out onto Ashton Road/Marsh Road to make our way back to the car ( like we always do ) & we ended up being stuck in the middle of theCardiff fans who where then being held at the lights going onto Winterstoke Road. Not the best place to be stuck with a little lad in City gear! In the end I had to pick him up as it was getting a bit hairy & carry him back towards the gate & exit out by the Atyeo statue. Ridiculous policing IMO, unless I’m missing something? COYR

The reason away fans are located in the Atyeo is largely down to A&S police advice. From that end of AG it’s easy access to Ashton Rd post match and with certain away supporters, Cardiff, Swansea and Milwall with a heavy police presence it’s simple enough to keep them corralled inside the Atyeo for 15/20mins after the game, enough time for the home fans to exit AG

Its a shame tho because just a small number of away fans can much more noise as the acoustics in the Atyeo direct the sound out towards the pitch whereas any chants/songs our fans create from the corner of the SS dissipate upwards and that’s why we often hear the away fans chanting “is this a libtary?”

I can’t remember the last time they did that, they seem to let away fans out at exactly the same time as home fans. COYR

When NP says that we will honour Baker’s contract, do we think his wages will be paid directly from the club or via an insurance policy?

At a guess & it’s only a guess. I would imagine that insurance would be paid, but any loss to him would be made up by City. Certainly would seem fair to me. COYR

  7. Currently we probably do, certainly right up there. But people have to remember that Conway hasn’t played many games & his form will likely dip, which is to be expected at his age. You then hope that the next man in, takes his chance. Something  Nige has repeatedly mentioned. But this like you mention, is we are really blessed with the depth. All of our forward players would get in most Championship squads & probably starting eleven. Think they all add something different, even the recently criticised Martin (good at what he does & probably under appreciated). If we can sort out the lapses in concentration ( it’s not system or formations), I see no reason not to be pushing top 6. COYR

That is a good point, he has been here a long time, and was very young when he joined us. The arguing point is, when you compare him the the likes of AS, AS and TC who are also of a similar age, they're all producing the goods.

Put them into a foreign league ( not to mention the most competitive & combative in the world ) & see how they get on. He also plays in the most difficult position on the pitch imo. Which is why Alex Scott is such an exception. He in my opinion, has the highest ceiling of potential ( along with Scott ) in the squad. He now has to bring consistency into his game, no great surprise after just turning 21. There is also sometimes off the pitch things that can affect on pitch matters. He is a footballer in the purest term, was it a coincidence that one of his best performances of late was with a midfield combination of Han & Scott? Two players that move, offer angles, exceptional touch, work hard, tenacity, & have trust in their own ability to receive the ball in tight situations? Not to mention having mobile movement in front of them. After all, you can only pass if someone shows & wants it. As for comparing him to Kilkenny, I would imagine said more so for affect, at least I hope so! The only comparison is that they play in Midfield & come from a different country. Love watching Han & would be in my starting eleven. Hopefully signs a contract, but will Watch with interest if he moves on. COYR

In the shop on Sunday they scanned my card and when I asked for what benefit they said we’ll find out in October.

On a side note, as I’ve criticised the shop on many occasions over the last few years, I think this season’s offerings are an improvement on previous years. Let’s hope this improvement continues.

Who doesn’t like a good old surprise! Season starts in August, City release benefit information in October. Will probably be 50% off in the shop during September! COYR

  10. Don’t think Bentley, Scott, Atkinson, Williams, Conway will start. So could be a starting 11 of:

    GK- O’Leary

    Rwb- Wilson

Lwb- Dasilva ( subbed at some point )

    Rcb- Vyner

    Cb - Klose

    Lcb- Naismith

    Cm- King

    Cm- Massengo

    Am- Weimann

    St- Martin

    St- Wells

I actually had Massengo & Weimann on my list to be rested, but struggled to realistically replace them. Certainly highlights a shortage of central midfielders with our current injuries! Would imagine both would be substituted on 60ish minutes if possible. Would also keep Vyner & Wells playing, as they are in a good vain of form after being potentially struggling to get game time. Still a decent starting eleven, which should be equipped to get a result. COYR
