Proper foundations? If they dig any deeper they will be in Australia! Still the stadium might be taking a little while longer than expected (60years since they sold Eastville) but at least they have their fantastic new training ground opening any day soon.

You should've heard Holloway on TalkSport on the opening day v Forest as he was at AG doing co-commentary. He was absolutely raving about the facilities and atmosphere at AG. Said he was desperate for City to make the Premier League (he's presumably given up all hope of the other lot doing it). It's the first time I've heard him speak and felt he genuinely sounded like he wished us well. Can't really blame him for not wanting to be associated with the other lot anymore, just a complete embarrassment to him I'd imagine.

I have been told before that Bill Holloway (his dad and former Longwell Green FC President) was a City season ticket holder and Ian used to go with him. Only swapped to blue and white when he signed for the gas as a schoolboy. Anyone know if that is true.

Having looked in vain at the Sunday times Rich list for Wally and family. I feel somewhat suprised to see  No mention of the owners of the 6th richest club in England.According to the Arab Jordan Investment Bank ,the very nice man,Wael is worth about 5.6 million. Is that enough to build a new extension to the Tent Camp and finance mega bucks players ?   Perhaps Wally might be using his Chelsea contacts to scrounge some money off  Pedro, the Chelsea player is reported as having 16million and a contract worth £100,000 a week running to 2019. Willian £ 23 million or Eden Hazard £ 32 million could also be targets for the fake shiek. Although I see Emma Watson (Harry Potter fame) is reputed as being worth £ 50 million, she might be up for a bit of boob cricket on the side.

Um, could you please clarify, is Emma Watson up for boob cricket? I'm a slow left arm over.

During my lifetime you have always been the better supported club. However, football was right in the doldrums in the mid 80s and attendances were pretty shite for every club in comparison to today . I just checked and City's previous home game against Swansea was watched by 6013. Yes our attendance was shit, but it was a lot closer to City attendances then than it is now!

Yes, then you had just over half our average support and now you have less than half our average support.

  6. I've lived in Hanham-Kingswood for most of my life and I'd say it was pretty solid Rovers in the 80s, maybe 80-20 in their favour. It is nothing like that anymore, I would guess maybe 60-40 in their favour if not closer to 50-50. I also work in Fishponds and I'd say that is more solid. 16 years ago before they really fell miles behind us I'd say it was 90-10 Rovers, now I would guess maybe 75-25 Gas.

I had a ten pound bet to charity that City would have a higher average away following than Rovers with a fellow City fan on this forum (name escapes me). He might as well make the donation in time for Christmas, no chance of them overhauling us.

Over 105 years ago(!), City lost to three non league teams in a ten year period. Rovers on the other hand.........

My understanding was that City have never lost to a non league side in an official competitive first team game. The Gas on the other hand must be close to double figures now (not including defeats when they were non league themselves).

  9. The thought of playing Rovers in a Bristol Derby in the Championship is quite an exciting one, both games would be sold out without a doubt. But I also agree with the majority of posters, for Rovers it is a no lose and for City it is a close to no win. The only way City win is if we absolutely humiliated you 6-0 or something of that nature, which lets be fair is extremely rare in a local derby. The risk of a Rovers upset would mean another ten years of Gas dining out on it (the Rickie Lambert LDV game is only just off the front page for Gasheads).
