I’ve continually called him “a warrior” and “the best defender at our club” on here - and I’ve been laughed at, ridiculed and shouted down for those views - but I still stand by them - Nathan Baker is a proper defender - a proper stopper, a guy who relishes the battle and gives everything - it’s been a pleasure cheering him on, I hope he’s ok and can return to play for us - but if not, thanks Bakes - a proper hard man who knew how to give everything for the Red shirt ... ??

The bloke has played in the Premier League, an FA Cup Final and been a superb defender for City. Anybody that can't see that really doesn't know a lot about football. If it wasn't for his injury record he would be spoken about as one of the best defenders we've had since the top flight days.

Reading away made national headlines at the time.

Very clear photo for the mid 1980s. It must have been quite easy for the football 'spotters' to identify main culprits. With 4K (or whatever the top spec is nowadays) for cameras, they would be identify every last minor detail on any hooligans face unless they were wearing a balaclava!

  3. In more recent times I remember winning at Cardiff when Scott Murray did 'that celebration' after scoring. After the match I had to get across the Ninian Park car park to get to my motor. There was a full scale riot and the Soul Crew were driving back the South Wales Police. I turned to one copper and said 'I have to get across the car park' he just grinned and said 'good luck, we can't help you because we have lost control' I still don't really know how I made it across, I kept looking at my feet and walking, I felt breath on my neck more than once but just didn't look up. The vicious atmosphere was such that if I'd been hit to the ground I really think there would have been a good chance of me being killed.

Both Bryan and Pring are excellent going forward, although as has been mentioned, Pring appears to be much stronger and, of course, is clearly a far better defender.

At present, however, Bryan would appear to be the ‘better’ attacker by virtue of the number of shots he takes (took) and, by extension, the number of goals he scored.

Having said that, I suppose only time (and match experience) will show whether Pring develops the confidence to shoot more often and, hopefully, score.

Let us be completely honest here, Joe Bryan was a fantastic player for Bristol City and has performed in the Premiership for a Fulham team that have seriously splashed the cash over the past 20 years. To even be talking about Cameron Pring as better or similar in ability to Bryan tells us what an exciting prospect we have on our hands.

True. But it’s also true that we have been abysmal for a lot of this season, and the improvement has only been noticeable for a few weeks. A bit early to be celebrating turning the corner. Fingers crossed though!

Pearson said as much today when the Radio Bristol interviewer talked of City having turned the corner and things are much better. Pearson said there will still be ups and downs, but we are starting to get the right people into the club and the right mix out on the park. He said it will take time though and we are not there yet. To be fair that has been a consistent message, time and transfer windows, no magic wand.

I'd forgotten about Stockport, ended up sat in the Gate watching that game on a big screen set up in the East End - they had Kevin Francis I think his name was, some bloody great big 12ft 5 striker.

It got very tasty in a pub before the match, both sets of fans were having a drink and singing songs at each other then literally 2 minutes later the pub was completely trashed. I believe Stockport 'started it' by hurling a beer glass into a group of City fans but until the police stormed in it was absolute carnage.

I remember scrabbling around on the floor for the ticket I lobbed away before the lights went out. I'm sure there was an announcement over the tannoy that you would or may need to produce it as evidence to get a ticket for the replay.

You're right, back then it was commonplace if you didn't have a season ticket to keep tickets from matches you attended as they would allow you a ticket for any plum ties. In fact, even season ticket holders were encouraged to keep tickets in case there was a small away allocation in the cup and we had more season tickets than allocation. I believe that was the case when we played Stockport County away following beating Liverpool.

  8. Pearson said we'd go strong, with maybe a couple of changes. He also said Fulham will go strong as they've had so few games recently. I know a few fans who said they weren't going but have now bought tickets. I'm pretty confident the Gate will be 8000 plus come kick off.

Christ, look at the state of this 4th goal!!! Probably one of my most vividly remembered goals against…

If it wasn't for the fact it came against City, that fourth goal would be hilarious. You'd be livid with your centre half if he gave a goal away like that at Dundridge Park on a Sunday morning.

  10. Kilmarnock are a huge club by Scottish second tier standards with double the gates of most of the division. He will be under pressure to take them straight back to the Premiership. My bet us that he will be backed this month in the transfer market and will win the title.

Many clubs don’t know what their situation will be tomorrow let alone 2-3 days time

Exactly, let us be totally honest we will not know if City v QPR is going to be played for certain until about 3-4 hours before kick off. Tougher on the Hoops fans who would have already set out by then. For most City fans we wouldn't have left our front doors by the time of an 100% decision.

Valid points but don't forget it's getting to the coldest part of the year so anyone wanting something to warm up with in the ground don't really have a choice.

Really??? Simply wear a sensible coat, scarf and gloves. Pack a flask of hot chocolate. You really don't need to spend a fortune on food to stay warm!

Take a packed lunch and eat it in the car before the game. No point spending £20+ on food

Spot on, I'm always amazed by the comments from fans who moan about the price of food or drink in the stadium. I've decided to come up with some other options for them -

    * Try going 90 minutes without eating and drinking. I can guarantee you will not keel over and die.

    * Purchase your food from Sainsburys or Aldi, both less than 10 mins walk from the ground.

    * Purchase your food from one of the 30 plus eateries all within 15 minutes walk of the stadium.

    * Make some sandwiches and a flask of coffee before you leave the house, likely cost about a quid.

Problem solved, no need to thank me.
