Sorry to be a pedant but wasn't it Bell and Brennan? I'm sure we sold Barnard to Barnsley then recruited Bell under John Ward, Brennan then broke through under Benny after Ward was sacked.
Yes that is right, I think Barnard and Bell may have even played a pre season friendly together?

His interview with the local media is slightly more pointed if you look atvthe Bristol Post website, nothing overly controversial though

If they've paid him off even at a reduced settlement then that's even less they have to spend. Looking like Bournemouth or nothing for Alex

Speaking of Millwall Saturday was so much worse than the last time we played them on the first game of the season.
2010, Crowd up for it and, well you know the rest.

Couldn’t argue more about Chair, Wilock from them is decent too.
Would love to see it but can't see him coming here

Going to be a lot of bookings in the first few weeks!

Bournemouth have reached a deal to sign Castrovalli from Fiorentina, after a quick google search he is a midfielder player in a similar mould to Scott so it looks though they have moved on??

We wouldn't, we don't know the make up of the deals on offer as fans. I was guessing at what @Kid in the Riot may have been told with it being less than £25m guaranteed.

Well, if the fee I heard on Monday is correct, then a lot of people (particularly @W-S-M Seagull) are going to be disappointed. Still a sizeable amount in add-ons to get to the £25m figure. However, the source is pretty damn good, to say the least.
20 guaranteed + 5.5 in add-ons? Suppose its how much of the addons are easily hit I.e. 20 games equals 2.5m etc?
The big factor is the sell on clause for me, if we've compromised on the fee but get 20% of future fee then it would work out better in the long run

They also have to move players out including some Lopetegui doesn't want to lose. He said recently that they can't even afford their plan B now!
If that happens and he doesn't get Scott either I can see him walking.
Makes you think why would a promising player like Scott want to go there?

Would you except 20 mil from someone like Spurs, if they loaned him back to us for a season?
Arguably the price we quote to Spurs would be higher as the sell on chances would diminish

I mean I did suspect that many PL clubs would deem him overpriced.
Clearly an element of higher and lower, no problem he'll stay another year or at least we will see come January if he's doing really well or if we're bottom third say.
What i cant fathom is If Lavia is worth £50m how is Scott not worth half of that?

I blame The Hundred, the fact we've had to fit the entire Test Summer in before the end of July to allow a format of cricket that nobody else even plays is ridiculous. It meant no meaningful warmup series could be arranged and we end up going into the biggest series we play in undercooked

Root was a bit too sporting there with Smith, should have claimed it as a regulation catch and see if he walked

Why get another 50 runs though? Just bowl them out and if that lack of 50 means we need 50 to win then get them then
Exactly this, we can't win the game unless we take 10 wickets which is going to take a lot longer than us knocking off whatever we need. Don't think we're giving ourselves the best chance to win

no, its called off because they can't agree personal terms, if stoke can't pay his wages we have absolutely no chance
Could be a cover story?

A name mentioned on here from Wolves was the goalie Sarkic, his move to Stoke has been called off despite a fee being agreed last week. Wonder whether he is now being used to bridge the gap in valuation between us and them?

Really! Wolves are original members of the football league, Division One champions 3 times, Division 2 champions 4 times, Division 3 champions twice, Division 4 champions once and FA Cup winners 4 times.
Yep agree Wolves are a proper club and will always be PL / strong Championship club. Got to be honest though was expecting a better choice than Wolves or Bournemouth for Alex

As we face the reality of losing the outstanding Alex Scott, I’m keen to get an insight into what everyone feels is required during the rest of the transfer window.
The squad looks strong, but we our set to lose a vital piece of the puzzle.
Personally, I can see at least 3 of the following:
- GK: competition is required for Max.
- CB: One additional is required. If Naismith’s absence is injury related, then it’s vital that we have an additional Left Centre Back available within the squad. Still unsure if this will be an academy graduate.
- CM: I can see us going down the more creative route (Attacking midfielder). Someone that could potentially interchange with Mehmeti. I believe that Khadra is still a possibility.
- ST: Goals. Simple as that. Conway is set for a big season, and Wells has the experience required. But Cornick seems more effective out wide (*opinion), which makes me believe we will try to secure some additional firepower.
Interested to see what everyone else thinks…Agree on GK, given Bajic didn't play either half today would suggest he isn't part of the plans so this would be a priority.
If we have money to spend following his departure then i would like to see us bring in a couple of attacking players to cover the CAM/Winger/ST positions one being a "marquee" signing and maybe a Prem loan. Whilst we have plenty of options in thise areas i dont think we have a player that any of the bigger clubs in this division would be interested in, the likes of Weimann, Wells etc are decent enough, work hard and over the course of a season will ensure we are competitive but don't have the magic to push us on from there IMO.
Not fussed on another CB unless Vyner leaves as we have plenty if options already and Aroaye, Wood would be better value to cover the minimal number of minutes a 5th choice would need to.

Who is better between Alex Scott and his u19 midfield mate Carney who went to Chelsea for £20m?
Just wondering
A good comparison is James McAtee who had a good season loan at Sheff U last year (didn't win EFL YPOTS though.....) and there have apparently been £30m offers in for him

Rob Dickie and Zak Vyner

Nor seen today's game but both were excellent last weekend, getting Vyner signed up to a new contract should be the No.1 priority at the moment. He is fast becoming one of the best CB's in the league and quite rightly should be paid as such
