Welcome back Anis

Good to see Cornick get a start. I thought he’d feature more than he has after his Boro first half performance.
Its not like anyone else around him has been in undroppable form

Great to see Wells get to the front post, frustrates me how often crosses don’t get past the first defender. Conway often guilty of not making a run to get in front of his man.

Didn’t we lose something like 6-0 at Portman Road in GJs Playoff Final season?
I seem to remember we played the home fixture very shortly afterwards -only a couple of weeks later - and won it 2-1(?) - a very bad tempered affair with loads of fouls.
I may be wrong - not using Google as I’m trying to keep my memory active in old age!!!You’ve comfortably passed the test, I won’t deduct you a point because it was 2-0 in the home game as everything else was spot on.

It’s over 3 years since we lost a game by more than 4 goals, 6-0 v Watford.
A lot of very close games in those 3 years with just a few bad defeats , 6-2 v Fulham, 3-0 v Birmingham spring to mind.
No idea what’ll happen tonight but I’m obviously hoping for a win.

Before too many Devonians ask for tickets, some if us are Devon based, SV holders been to 4 away games and still struggling for a ticket.

I was expecting it to start at 8 or 9. Should go to the 6 aways slot but not sure it'll go much further
Edit: though if our poor form continues tonight it might help extend the sale period

Excuse my lack of knowledge but is that the same game that David James gave them 2 goals.
I can remember the first being down to James, can’t remember the second. Also remember James being at fault against them at Ashton Gate, maybe the same season?

Only time I've been to Portman Road was Brett Pitman's first game. I remember he got his foot stuck in some netting behind the goal. 4.5 hours each way on CATS. I think we lost 2-0.
We go again…
I’m pretty sure that was my only visit there too.
I had traveled all the way from southern France via Stansted, probably not much longer than your journey and was excited for the new season, end of August I think.
My overriding memory was trying to defend Nicky Hunt on OTIB after the game, I was thinking he was getting more stick than he deserved. Not my finest contribution.

The flare on the pitch was odd.
It was almost like someone was saving it for our winning goal, got fed up with waiting and couldn’t be bothered to take it home so just lobbed it on the pitch

I dunno, we seem to play much better against decent teams who attack us (i.e. we can't play Manningball, so default to a gameplan that actually suits us).
I’m expecting a much better performance than the last 3 with some decent attacking play and maybe even a goal.
But Ipswich can’t do anything wrong at the moment. They’re riding one of those waves that happen to clubs (not us) once in a blue moon.
I predict 3-1

Leicester were odds on to romp to the title a month ago but look how quickly that's changed, and that's a team with a Prem squad!.
We ain't out of the woods yet the way we are playing but even I think we will just make it.
That would only involve 2 scenarios, Leicester to keep losing and Leeds/Ipswich to keep winning.
As you go on to say, we should be fine. Lots of clubs would have to have a turn around of fortunes and we only may need 3 or 4 more points

I think we’re stuck with him until at least the Autumn.
The only event I can see shortening his tenure would be a Tinnion/Swansea moment.
From memory we haven’t suffered a hiding for a long time, a very bad day at Birmingham last season but 3-0 not really a hiding. Maybe Fulham away over 2 years ago, 6-2!
Anyway, when do we play Swansea?

Been saying this since Southampton away.

Wells and Conway have hardly been played as a combination at any point in the last 4 months so I don’t think you can say that they aren’t working well together. It happened briefly against QPR and gave us the best opportunity of a goal in the match, as Nakhi played in Tommy and his shot narrowly missed .
Yeah I don’t know why I put in the word combination, I was just remembering when they were a good combination.
I feel for both having to play in this team. Such a shame Tommy’s effort was ruled offside, we all really needed that.
-
I wonder if his stock has fallen since Manning took over? With the high profile West Ham goals probably not.
But if I was him I’d be looking for something different. Him and Wells look a very different combination than they looked under Nige.

We’ve had a few of these polls in the last 5 or 6 years and we always end up with the same amount of SC holders, if not more.
I think Covid times proved to a lot of us that we don’t turn up JUST for the football, it’s everything that goes with it that a lot of us missed when we weren’t allowed to go.
Best of luck with your health issues @westonred you can always get a membership and pick and chose games
