  1. I found it bizarre to the say the least that he was chucked in having not played a competitive match for almost 5 weeks (and then at Conference level). His fourth Championship game in two seasons, and the third one he's been subbed off at half-time. A big, physical Millwall side was always going to be a struggle for the lad who, to be honest, needs another loan as he isn't quite ready for Championship football IMO
  2. Great final, though not the result I wanted.
  3. As I remarked at the time, that wasn't a hospital pass, it was an ICU one!
  4. Is any team who are 11 points above the drop zone in "a relegation scrap"??? I mention this as there is a farce of a team who were once rivals of City who are 7 points above a second non-league drop.
  5. Antoine definitely looks to have improved beyond all recognition in his recent games, compared to some of the enthusiastic but underwhelming appearances he's made in the past. In terms of ball skills, he's up there with Massengo as arguably the best at the club. His passing has improved immeasurably and he's the most robust attacking player we have: he makes it stick. I'm undecided whether he'll eventually bag a brilliant goal and - combined with his good all-round game - this will lead to a goal rush as he suddenly finds his strike form, or whether he'll remain a terrific attacker who just lacks the killer instinct in the box. If it's the latter, should he play an advanced MF role? Wells would have converted his one-on-one chance yesterday, as would the majority of strikers in the division.
  6. For various reasons I haven't been on social media much, or had a chance to chat much about the game, but can anyone inform me why Atkinson wasn't playing? Did Pearson honestly think an inexperienced 19-year-old deserved a chance because he'd trained better than Atko, or was Rob carrying an injury?
  7. I think he's just a ****. His penalty was the only time he threatened our goal.
  8. Professional pride is a thing though and King will know he let his team mates, manager and more widely us fans and the Club, down. Don't forget as well as a City player, he is a fan.
  9. Their player should have been carded for feigning a head injury. At no point did anything touch his head apart from his own hands. I'd love to see retrospective punishments handed out for am dram like that.
  10. I guess without the first card it was a classic "take one for the team" scenario. However, although a breakaway attack is always threatening, I believe Pring was still behind him and could intercept or at least slow down Johansen. Apart from Willock, I don't think QPR were a particularly fast team and we were likely to get back and defend. Once King had lost the ball, the best he could do was shadow the runner to make a pass difficult.
  11. Once again, I disagree. The ball was kicked while under his body onto his arms. His hands were up protecting his head, which is pretty much what I'd do in the situation.
  12. It crossed the line 100% at one time and he dribbled it back on.
  13. Agreed. For once, we looked to generally play it up the field on to the front men, rather than hopeful punts to a "target man" with whom the ball rarely sticks. Semenyo's hold-up play was good, his passing intelligent, and Weimann's sprinting ability caused all sorts of headaches for QPR's not very good back line. With Scott involved in the high press, I felt that we had more attacking intent in that game, even when we had 10 men, than in most other outings this season.
  14. It makes more sense for James to be captain.
  15. Although he played for Swindon at the start of his professional career, he's from Bournemouth, not Wiltshire. I think the reason he goaded fans was just because he's a *****, not because of any spurious connection to a club 10 years ago.
  16. All the officials were terrible and Davis was merely the uber-incompetent. The Dolman-side assistant, apart from missing a few offsides, allowed Albert to dribble the ball when it was out-of-play then bring it back on the field after he'd gained about 20 yards. He also had a direct view of the Johansen handball. The Lansdown-side assistant didn't flag for an earlier handball committed about 6 feet in front of him.
  17. A few duff goal kicks, but seemed very steady otherwise.
  18. I agree. It was mental by King. No wonder he didn't want to be in the vicinity of Pearson after he left the field. I can imagine Big Nige would not be backwards in coming forwards with what he thinks of that idiocy.
  19. We played some of the best football we have all season and it took QPR having a two man advantage (counting the ref) to beat us. TBH nothing surprises me about City at the moment. I sometimes think AG must've been built over a cursed Indian graveyard, such is our failure to catch any breaks. I wasn't laughing. I was angry enough to leave as soon as their second went in. Normally, I never do that, but I had to dash back and have a couple of pints in Pensford to calm down.
  20. I guess it depends what was said to justify King's first card. Somehow I doubt Austin and the rest of those QPR ******* were choirboys when it came to the verbals. And why wasn't the greasy-haired *** not booked for inciting the crowd after his penalty?
  21. Totally. The ref was an utter shiner, and no dispute over that, but you always have to play to the ball.
  22. Although there are some dank housing estates in Britain's cities where both are consumed, they have entirely gone out of fashion. I think I read somewhere that the average age of a registered heroin user in the UK was 45. Lots of old guys who'd acquired habits in the 80s and early 90s and gone through the treadmill of using/kicking/relapsing multiple times. I've met ex-junkies, but the allure of a drug that makes you feel nauseous then you just fall asleep for ages was always lost on me. Coke, by contrast, is very much a "party drug" as it keeps you up and active no matter how many pints you sink. Drugs come in and out of fashion though, and right now coke is it (as the old ad slogan said). It was rare when I was a young man, but back in the 1920s and 30s it had been the "hit" drug for the moneyed classes. Noel Coward wrote a play about it (The Vortex) and Cole Porter mentions it in the lyrics of "I get a kick out of you".
  23. What's new? They've been taking the piss there for the last three seasons.
