Disappointing to lose today but City are now 14 points off the top six and 17 points above the drop zone so are comfortably in mid table and that’s pretty much where many of us were predicting where City would end this campaign, given the three seasons Nige has undertaken. Another couple of wins should see us finish the season comfortably placed and imo Nige will have done as well as expected - especially so with the loss of senior players through various injuries over the season. In fact I don’t think that Nige has been able to select his best 11 at anytime.

The positives are clear to all - the emergence of the likes of Semenyo, HNM, Scott, Pring and Bell all suggest a better season lies up ahead.

No doubt we’ll lose one or possibly two this summer to balance the books just as we’ve seen plenty of times before and personally I’m not too concerned, it’s the way it is the football world after all.

Yep as disappointing as our performances are I have to say I would have wished for midtable obscurity after last few seasons so happy but still unhappy if you know what I mean.

I've watched it a few times, I think he's impeding, but not fouling. Not enough anyway. I want Bentley to be stronger there, I think he falls hoping to get the free kick.

As for Cov's winner. Mistake by Massengo, Williams is a bit flat footed and can't react. Neither great. There are a couple of occasions to foul, but it looks like HNM could actually get a slide tackle in, to either block the pass or make an attempt to win the ball. He does neither.

Do you think maenappa,my favourite keeper from recent times would have  concided Coventrys second  no never  .Bents is a line keeper not a box keeper .we end up stuck too close to our goal on crosses as bently doesn 'know how to claim his area even with all advantages keeper's get. He seems a small presence

Was he (Bentley) being impeded at all- I watched it on the highlights a couple of times and couldn't make my mind up, If he was impeded of course, shouldn't have been a goal.

Or am I clutching- appealing for something, looking for something that wasn't there.

Bents is not comfortable off his line I think it was around 6 ft off the line which is his area  ,he doesn't set himself to come out he sets himself to stay so it will keep happening.

Still think it started with Dasilva putting a shit backwards pass for Massengo he was always struggling to get back.

Well Massengo touted as going to premiership but I have not seen anything to think he is too good for us. If I'm honest so far he is a bit of a myth promise but no improvement.

In fairness, I think he burst on the scene, then went backwards for a period for various reasons, e.g. building physique, drain of the Champ, confidence, tactics, etc.

I think he’s getting it back, still a bit erratic, but he’s getting there.  I really think he will benefit from being here next season under Nige.

Yep,I may be a little harsh out of frustration but any young player staying under Nigel next season will be better for it providing they get picked after possible summer signings. Would think we would at least bring in a midfield player and with James and Williams being fit I think Massengo will be a squad player and want to move on.

It’s things like this that is another reason why I think Han will still be here next season (and will sign a contract).

If you were a scout for another club, how would you “sell him” to the prospective manager / recruitment team? Especially if you need to pay £10m plus for him (assuming he’s worth more than last summer’s £8m).

I rate him, he’s plenty good enough for our level, but there are things in his game he needs to improve.  He needs another season of growth - with us.  Nige is handling his “inconsistent form” well, he’s a bit up and down, partly due to the slightly frenetic way he plays”, and that must count for a lot, to be trusted by the manager.

I might be wrong, just my view.

Agree I don't think he has improved at all ,potential is there yes but he has been around the first team longer than Scott or Benarous but I believe those 2 at least are progressing quicker than Massengo who works hard but basics ie passing needs attention he passed short on several occasions.

Nothing against Max, but give me Bentley every day of the week.

I genuinely think he would’ve saved their second.

Bently is a line keeper. Max gives defence more confidence cos he comes off his line.no doubt bently is a fantastic quick reaction keeper but frightens our defence cos he is rooted don't know if he is going to come our or not.

First touch and finish are exactly what I'd expect at this level. Cmon Dave...are you seriously saying you couldn't do that 9/10 when you played? It's not technically hard. Should be something they do daily in training in different circumstances. Simple at this level.

Look at the context that was written in. You've taken something to back your view without context. I also wrote at the same time that he was best centrally and reactionary... exactly like his goals today. No time to think...just reactionary. When he's at his best. I stand by my statement in general for the rest of his game overall.

Agree with your discription of weimann a few days ago..he is in a purple patch at moment good for us good for him .he has not scored more than 12 in his career I believe so this is unusual not usual.as nige said he is happy to have him in this form at this moment.

I agree, as I said in an earlier post that he is more effective high and central.

Pato worked harder with his brain and technique. He ran far less, but was more effective overall for the team imo.

Watch Weimanns runs...I have over the years. Many aren't read well. He'll run into a space that is often behind a defender, where its impossible to receive the ball, as the ball route is blocked or into a dead end.

I've looked again and again...thinking why has Weimann run there, not received the ball, and the ball has been recycled instead of going to him. On further views, it's because although he runs into space...it's the wrong space. Or poorly timed. Often ahead of the play.  He simply doesn't give the passer the correct passing option. He's crap at angles. He'll run in a straight line behind a defender expecting the ball to be passed through the defender. Or if he does eventually create an angle it will be towards the corner flag.

It's cool though...we can agree to disagree ??

I think that is as accurate a description of weimann I've seen on here spot on .

  10. Agree with spudski. Love his effort but for me pick him central up top bombing into the box or don't pick him at all.i believe it causes the team more problems than answers moving him around just to keep him in the side. He is not a runner with the  ball, he won't beat a man wide and get crosses in and he is no midfield passing player. His control is poor and his runs are hardly ever found. He just seems a bundle of energy with no plan which is hard to work a team round.

Why don't we try not playing weimann..he plays every game season after season. I have never been convinced.  he runs yes. He is usually running in an offside position, he is almost always never in full control of the ball and for me the ONLY place he looks dangerous possibly cos he is never in control of the ball is straight down the middle.anywhere else he just fills a hole. Let's try without him for a few games.

Adding to my own post...I would never fault Weimanns effort or commitment but for me he just doesn't work for us agree he scores around 12 a season but say play semenyo or Wells every game in same position would they add more with pace etc .

Before today they’d scored 12 and assisted 7 (19 games), they are far from the problem, imho.  Service to them is a bigger issue.

Having said that it would not surprise me to see Antoine start next week.  Might be Weimann back into midfield to add some experience if James not fit.

  13. Come on that was a great interview. Came across very well looked keen sharper than of late and above all seemed relaxed and healthy and happy.  Always worth listening properly to what he Says. You can lose interest if you want but at your loss. Very considered guy who given time will sort this club out. He can get a bit deep but what he says is spot on. Well done boss.

I thought he was very fair and realistic actually.
Yes, they absolutely should’ve had a penalty when HNM wrestled Ostigard down on that corner. They hit the woodwork twice and had a couple of other very good chances and could easily have scored 3 or 4 on another night.
We got pretty lucky - although we battled well - but we still kinda got away with one last night.

If you watch the HNM thing ,look back in box and there are stoke and city players pushing grabbing and pulling same as hmm so ref could have given a foul against about 5 players on each side its what goes on at every corner or free kick into box.

Benarous showed maturity beyond his years in the closing stages. Both he and Scott’s work-rate shone through for me. That sets the standard for all to follow.

They were standout for me.slowing it drawing fouls etc seeing a game out which seniors struggle with .Big shout for Martin too worked his socks off.

Yep, the Clough/Taylor combination were incredible. To take a second division outfit to back to back European Cups was an epic achievement that will never be repeated.

It was a trip down memory lane for me and those of my generation to see Clough in his pomp again. He was an incredibly fascinating man and his approach to the beautiful game was ‘keep it simple’ and it certainly worked for him. If he were still around I’d love to hear what he thinks of the modern game - I can’t imagine that he’d be too enamoured with it.

Absolutely, I think him and Taylor proved beyond reasonable doubt that football is a simple game when played correctly.
