I know this likely won’t happen, but with the 5 subs rule, I don’t know why more managers aren’t using this in a tactical sense, much like they do in rugby.

For me, Semenyo is a brute and he has the potential to really scare defenders.
Why don’t we make him a ‘specialist brute’ and bring him on for 30-40 minutes in the 2nd half, against tiring defenders.

We’ve seen from his sub appearances this season that he can perhaps be more effective as the ‘impact’ sub rather than the starter.

I don’t know why more teams aren’t looking at the 5 subs and thinking about specialist players.

For example, in our current formation, I’d love to have seen 2 wing backs for each flank, run their backsides off and then switch them out. Dasilva gets 60 mins, Pring gets 30 mins, and then vice-versa the next game. Keeps them fresh, but also keeps them included. If a player knows he’s gonna get a game each week he’ll remain happy in the squad, rather than on the periphery.

With Semenyo, we could guarantee him 30-40 minutes every week, but sell it to him that it could potentially make him look like a better player, coming on vs tired defenders to brutalise them.

The 5 subs rule needs to be exploited tactically, in my opinion. You can basically sub half of the outfield players. This ought to provide a myriad of opportunities.

Absolutely agree regarding Semenyo he is not a centre forward and so far can't work with conway.i would use him as an impact last 30 min  bull to shake up a tiring defence I just dont think he is disciplined enough to work as a pair, he is a big asset and we love him but he would not be a starter for me yet.

    Or

Kalas listens to the shout from the keeper, Max catches it and we have possession?

I don’t understand how Max gets the blame.  Yes it’s a long way to come but there isn’t a Millwall player even attempting to challenge him for the ball?! Therefore it’s a perfectly acceptable decision to come and collect, and he makes the call to make everyone is aware he’s doing so. Kalas is 100% to blame for that goal not Max.

Think max called went to punch but kalas came in front and actually headed it to there player max pulled out partially due to Kalas  coming in front of him. Bit of a flook could of landed anywhere but as our luck is it fell right to the foot of there player. Both max and kalas were doing what we have wanted but maybe trying too hard both of them so I don't feel it's fair to blame anyone.

I think he needs to play exclusively out wide. Even as a striker his best moments are when he ends up wide and can go at his mark. I’d put him in one of the wingbacks spots. Have to plan for that with defending but can be done. Ideally I would play him wide in a 433 but there is a reluctance to change things.

My thoughts too not stuck to the bye line but definitely marauding in from the right just dont see him as a centre forward.

Sorry I think he was a one season wonder - we’ve seen too many of those.

A talented striker scores goals and looks dangerous when in possession.

I think Semenyo is a hard player to play alongside  ,very talented and strong but he is a monster wher no-one playing alongside him knows what his movements are going to be. He is an off the cuff type which is fine  e but not easy to play a pattern with,I think conway has looked lost and uncertain where he needs to be rather than playing his normal game.

Who dropped him? The fans or Pearson? Let’s be honest about it Bentley was shite at the weekend and can have no complaints whatsoever. Play that bad and you deserve bombing out of it.

I think nige is going through a sensible route by bringing in the regular no 2 keeper and giving oleary his chance before moving onto bajic ,he couldn't bypass oleary as his regular no 2 now its up to max.

Naismith to play, but what is so hard about knowing when you have to just boot the ******* ball. If in doubt, BOOT, Do your stuff the other times.

Exactly nige keeps banging on about stopping the ball going In our net. This means hitting it into stands when needed unfortunately Naismith thinks he is betrer and able to play his way out but is being found out.

Thank you , as far as I’m concerned , you’ve absolutely got it

Saves me repeating the same to @red colin, although I explained the same a couple of weeks back

You either drop him or persist and accept a risk / reward

Pearson will act,  if and when , he thinks the risk outweighs the reward

Simply moving him further forward is a cop out

He was recruited for a specific purpose

Ok we are all sat at home thinking why didn't we get something from that game we were the better side

    Answer mistakes by naismith

I've calmed down a bit about Naismith. Most of us can see his benefits but if these gifts were done by some others, they would have been hung, drawn and sliced into little bits by many supporters.

I still believe that we need a dominant, team leader as our central in a back three with Naismith just in front to not only guard the back three but to initiate our moves forward.

Yippee someone seeing like me.we need him in the side but not in the last line of defence push him up into midfield.

    Ahhhhhhhhh

So nice to see somebody who gets it ????

so many examples , but for one ball sent forward , Naismith and Norwich forward in 50/50 challenge

Naismith realises Norwich forward can’t win header, doesn’t head it anywhere  -  waits for ball to drop to his chest , angles his chest to make a pass to teammate and gets us going forward again

Numerous similar examples yet no one comments

Oh come on .yes he is a plus with his passing but you really think his passing gets him out of blame for as it stands approx 5 or more points seriously.

Shame, because for the majority of that game we bossed Norwich. Alex Scott superb again, orchestrating midfield and making lung busting runs to defend.

Its going to be a very entertaining season people. Lots to look forward to. Just need to cut out the defensive errors (again).

    City's desire is incredible.

Just listened to Gary owers spot on assessment. Good teams will wait for naismith to be in certain positions and pressure him he is not a last line defender.
