  1. Hadn't thought of this, could we possibly have another av situation with a review etc? Or not so much because its already a stadium!?

A JR is entirely possible, but I just don't see the motive. There have hardly been any objections to a revamped AG, literally a handful online and no opposition groups formed like in the case of Sainsburys (at the Mem and AG) and AV.

To those concerned about a revamped AG, put it like this, do you honestly think we couldn't sustain C'ship football with a 26,500 capacity, exec boxes, new conference facilites, bars, museum, club shop etc? As others have said, a new stadium could become a reality further down the line but right now that shot is not on the board and we are in desperate need of upgrading AG otherwise we will continue to slide on and off the pitch, I believe.

  2. Exactly. KITR, did you honestly think the club would just say 'hey ronald, we've got a nice juicy prime piece of land, that will enable you to tap into literally thousands of burrrgggerrrrr hungry individuals...we don't expect anything in return'.

A lease for such a site would be worth a considerable amount, and I expect the fast food chains would've fought tooth and nail for it.

Sadly, AG already has a kfc, and the club get diddly squat from it

Bit more complicated than that though isn't it. When you say "the club" you actually mean a group of landowners, not BCFC. None of us are privy to the make up of ownership of that land and who would be leasing what out. All we have it Geoff65's word on the subject as he spoke to SL... I'm not saying you or Geoff are wrong but precise details were never made clear publicly as far as I recall... You can throw Bristol Sport into the mix as well - how do you know profits wouldn't have gone into that pot? I'm pretty sure they would've in fact...

  3. I spoke to SL and he said that the fast food outlets, pub and hotel would be leased to outside parties to run, thus ensuring a regular revenue stream. Not that it's going to happen now anyway.

Fair enough. In that case the 80% figure sounds less believable! Though I'm sure a hotel was not proposed as part of the AV planning application? It could've come at a later stage of course...

  4. The point is though Arn as the likes of Nick J pointed out at the time, it was never clarified how much of the revenue generated at AV would be going to the club. A drive thru restaurant was proposed at AV for example, and there's no way McDonalds/KFC/Burger King would've been giving their profits made to City! Therefore, the fact there is no drive thru restaurant proposed as part of the AG redevelopment is no loss whatsoever.

For the record AV proposed ONE shop, a drive thru, conference facilities and NOT leisure facilities.

Personally, the 80% figure quoted sounds believable to me.

Just to add to that, AV proposed 5,500 sq m of conference/exhibition facilities. AG as existing has 1,500 sq m (Dolman) and as part of the new Wedlocks and Williams Stand will add a further 4,000 sq m of space...so will propose exactly the same as AV.

18 exec boxes proposed at AG, 24 at AV...

  5. Morning Nogs

My understanding was the new Ashton Vale to have shops, bars, restustants, perhaps leisure facilities such as ax swimming pool, bowling etc etc

The whole idea was the arena to have things that would be used 7 days of the week and not just on matchdays

The stadium of light is typical if what City were trying to build

Ashton Gate new ground would be nothing like that hence no where near the same amount if revenue produced

The point is though Arn as the likes of Nick J pointed out at the time, it was never clarified how much of the revenue generated at AV would be going to the club. 6. Well if you think by us re-developing Ashton Gate is a step ahead of the Gas plans then i say you are clearly deluded. Both clubs need new grounds Not re-developments.

Redeveloping AG into minimum 26.5k stadium (more with safe standing) vs the g*s plans that currently consist of no valid consent to redevelop their own ground and the UWE stadium going t1ts up?

What on earth are you going on about? Both clubs AIN'T going to get new grounds, time to face reality.

  7. As I said earlier in this thread...Sainsbury's ARE getting restless and they simply have not been building new stores recently. I know someone who represents Sainsburys as a consultant and they have confirmed this to me.

This new stadium ain't happening I tell ya! And what with them having no existing consent at the Mem they are MANY YEARS away from a new/redeveloped stadium.

In the "stadium race" we have just taken a strong lead, how the tables have turned...

  8. But they have no money..what and how will they redevelop, the question has to be asked.. how long are sainsbury  prepared to wait.

I'm talking some way down the line...

You're right, Sainsbury's will get restless and also there is added complications at UWE. Just not happening IMO.

  9. I just can't see this happening now. You needs lots of "ducks in a row" to pull off a major development (well 2, Saino's and the stadium) like this and the years of delay is going to take a massive toll.

I predict they'll do as us, and redevelop their existing facilities.

  10.

I believe the future definitely lies at Ashton Gate and it would be a major surprise if planning permission were refused, given George Ferguson's antipathy to the idea of a bigger Sainsburys in BS3. It is not the new stadium the majority of fans hoped for, but the redevelopment of AG will neverthess help secureicon1.png the club's future. Bristol City and their fans have been starved of success in recent years and a major infrastructure project of this kind will hopefully provide a focal point for recovery both on and off the pitch. I think all those who have seen the plans will agree, the new Ashton Gate will be a facility all City fans can rightly be proud of. Tangible progress on this project ought to engender renewed enthusiasm among the fan-base and be the catalyst for creating a mind-set that perceives Bristol City as a club on the march rather than one struggling to emerge from torpor. We can only hope that Bristol City councillors share the same outlook.

Totally agree with what Stockhausen says above, get on and build the thing.

  11. Will dreary get "the money" is the 64,000 dollar question? and if he did would he get anyone as good?, is another. Reality check is; we have just beaten 2 virtual/near recent non league teams, we have a long way to go yet.

Er Dag and Red are one point off L 2 play offs and Crawley 13th L1. Not "virtual/near non league" c'mon...

Bristol Rovers...now they ARE virtual/near non league...

  12. That article is a load of bollux IMO.

I don't think you are far wrong re him having a little spat with the club - just as he seemed to be getting a bit professional, he reverts to type.

What you have to remember with Shithausen is that he may get on ok with SOD but other than that he has zilch contacts at the club and doesn't get on with Steve Lansdown.

  13. Dawn raids to arrest people for going on to a football pitch to celebrate a win seems about right for modern day Britain.

Must crack down on spontaneous happiness wherever that may be, we can't have people going around and doing things that aren't controlled by the state.

Tomorrow I hope they arrests that big titted weather girl Carol on the BBC, she asking for trouble smiling at us like that, how has she got away with it for so long.

I very much doubt the dawn raids were for people who simply ran on the pitch! Roverzzz fans were lobbing seats at the end and fighting with police as they came into the EE so it will likely be those who have been nicked this morning.
