I just can't see this happening now. You needs lots of "ducks in a row" to pull off a major development (well 2, Saino's and the stadium) like this and the years of delay is going to take a massive toll.
I predict they'll do as us, and redevelop their existing facilities.
-
No work will start at Ashton Gate until the end of the current season the club have already said this backed up by david lloyd on more then one occasion
WRONG. The EE will be demolished in March 2014 if we get the go ahead. It has to, so the replacement stand is ready for the start of the 2015 season.

I'll bet the G*s stadium will be put on hold till next year, and ours will start conveniently or before theirs begins. We have the green party to thank for the build race.
There is little realistic prospect of building work starting at UWE next year, let alone this year!

I believe the future definitely lies at Ashton Gate and it would be a major surprise if planning permission were refused, given George Ferguson's antipathy to the idea of a bigger Sainsburys in BS3. It is not the new stadium the majority of fans hoped for, but the redevelopment of AG will neverthess help secure the club's future. Bristol City and their fans have been starved of success in recent years and a major infrastructure project of this kind will hopefully provide a focal point for recovery both on and off the pitch. I think all those who have seen the plans will agree, the new Ashton Gate will be a facility all City fans can rightly be proud of. Tangible progress on this project ought to engender renewed enthusiasm among the fan-base and be the catalyst for creating a mind-set that perceives Bristol City as a club on the march rather than one struggling to emerge from torpor. We can only hope that Bristol City councillors share the same outlook.
Totally agree with what Stockhausen says above, get on and build the thing.

Crowd very restless and plenty of very audible moans coming from the AG crowd until we scored.
As someone who was there, this doesn't ring true - anyone else agree/disagree??

Er Dag and Red are one point off L 2 play offs and Crawley 13th L1. Not "virtual/near non league" c'mon...Will dreary get "the money" is the 64,000 dollar question? and if he did would he get anyone as good?, is another. Reality check is; we have just beaten 2 virtual/near recent non league teams, we have a long way to go yet.
Bristol Rovers...now they ARE virtual/near non league...

That article is a load of bollux IMO.
I don't think you are far wrong re him having a little spat with the club - just as he seemed to be getting a bit professional, he reverts to type.
What you have to remember with Shithausen is that he may get on ok with SOD but other than that he has zilch contacts at the club and doesn't get on with Steve Lansdown.

Just seen 2 gas heads on BBC news claiming that thy were a family club and that city fans had started the trouble by going on to the pitch, guess the identities of 2 of those due in court.
Hang on, didn't the gappers go on the pitch after they scored??
-
All he has done is get caught up in the moment and excitement of beating your local rivals, sorry but totally over the top.
Absolutely crazy, as Graham says above don't suppose they could actually go and catch some real crooks?

Dawn raids to arrest people for going on to a football pitch to celebrate a win seems about right for modern day Britain.
Must crack down on spontaneous happiness wherever that may be, we can't have people going around and doing things that aren't controlled by the state.
Tomorrow I hope they arrests that big titted weather girl Carol on the BBC, she asking for trouble smiling at us like that, how has she got away with it for so long.
I very much doubt the dawn raids were for people who simply ran on the pitch! Roverzzz fans were lobbing seats at the end and fighting with police as they came into the EE so it will likely be those who have been nicked this morning.

Oh, and also the slags might want to bear in mind that ANOTHER JR is still of course possible.
Supermarkets love a JR on the last day deadline.
It would be well worth Tesco slapping one in purely to delay the build by 6 months as it's 6 months extra profit for their stores which easily covers their legal costs. Happens all the time.
Might not happen hashtag justsaying

I have an update on this.
It seems BCC are going to make representations denying any procedural wrong doing (no surprise there).
HOWEVER, an opinion has been expressed to me that everything is not all good and well with the decision specifically the Section 106 Agreement.
It is therefore a strong possibility that BCC will take the application back to Committee with some proposed re-wording.
Realistically, it ain't going to a Committee meeting until October at the earliest and so a delay on building work seems a strong possibility.
Wonder if the gappers will tell me I'm making all this up as well?!

I couldn't resist a quick peep at the Sags forum, , they slaughtered the OP saying that we were just jealous and their would be no challenge, whoops, .
Yep, here's the thread "OTIB on a wind-up"!!
http://www.brfcforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/110806-otib-on-a-wind-up/
Hilarious, poor buggers.

Fair play lads, I take it back.
I can understand why people didn't believe me to be fair. Also surprised it's taken 8 days or whatever for them to go public or without anyone else spilling the beans.
-
No I cant
It's not the last day of the JR period yet, that's in mid-September.
I hope whoever submitted the JR is wealthy, because as far as I'm aware no incorrect procedures were followed - remember you can't call for a JR just because you don't agree with the outcome, only if due process hasn't been followed.
The planning application considered the impact on retail, had expert reports prepared for BOTH sides, recognised there would be an impact on a limited part of the retail sector (mainly co-op express type shops) but introduced s106 measures to mitigate those impacts including free car parking and funds for promoting the area proactively etc
The application was passed noting those concerns but realising the bigger picture benefits to the area - and Eric Pickles felt there was nothing in the decision that warranted government intervention via a Public Inquiry.
If you call for a JR and lose, you become liable for all costs ....
I'll not lose any sleep on this yet ....
Talking litter..
Move along, nothing to see here...
You pair of absolute clowns.
And by the way dancinfanny, yes the person who submitted the JR is VERY wealthy.
Best of luck girls.

I have also heard a rumour that a JR has been made; but the source is a third party (albeit one which is close to the project).
In the end of the day a JR is unlikely to do anything other than delay the commencement of the stadium.
Glad I'm not the only one, my sources are also very close to the project.
As the defendant BCC would've had to be notified first as the claimant had to first attempt to reconcile to avoid litigation.
Assuming this fails then the JR is heard before the High Court who either choose to accept it or reject it.
That's my understanding anyway.
Agree it's a delaying tactic but as we saw with AV what can appear to be the most spurious of claims can end up massively delaying a project and having huge knock on effects.
I continue to watch this one with interest

Someone is winding you up mate.
I'll leave the winding-up to Randy Marsh mate - he's much better at it.
Fair enough if it wasn't the last day yesterday - unusually courteous for a NIMBY!
The JR is in though...and BCC have been notified of that fact.
-
KITR is ahead of the game on this one!
Have now heard this from THREE different people.
It came in on the last day, yesterday.
On retail grounds.
-
Oh dear...
I have it on good authority that BCC have received a judicial review for the Sainsburys application at the rugby ground.
So much for sending the diggers in next month...
-
What a crap article. Reads like it's been written by a complete person I disagree with. Oh, hang on...

Just a bit of pink and a few limp wrists. Oh god, have i stepped over the mark?

I'm talking some way down the line...
You're right, Sainsbury's will get restless and also there is added complications at UWE. Just not happening IMO.
