  1. 3.5 is about right from central Bristol (I live near Preston).
That assumes no one is leaving in rush hour or late enough that you hit junction closures.
Obviously the M5 and M6 can be a nightmare.
    Good luck!!!

  2. I reckon this is, at best, jumbled reporting. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we’d contacted Warnock during Pearson’s last illness absence but now makes little sense at all - Nige appears to be on good form and, although results are a bit rubbish, we’re playing better than for a while and we aren’t getting relegated… well probably not!

Cardiff is the perfect job for NW - stop the slide and steady the ship between now and the end of the season.

Dominant CB, has played left of a 4 apparently, but with Kalas & Pring looking good at the sides, I wonder if we will play him in the middle .
I would normally think he would start from the bench, but with PNE being fairly robust, I wonder if Nige will go against the norm and start him.
If he does, it allows movement elsewhere. Vyner could step out to RWB for JD. It could release Pring to LWB in place of COD to add more solidity.

However we shape up, welcome to Bristol , and do try to stay fit Time.

Just waiting for the Evening Post headline now ....

"City hope to move Klose to that elusive clean sheet"

Interesting. That’s the possibility of a big old back line…. Pring Klose Atkinson Kalas Vyner.  Might be useful in some games!

I once submitted 10 fish and bread puns to an OTIB competition (for such things are unanimously popular on here, as we all know), hoping that one of them would win...

... but no pun in 10 did.

    Unanimously popular? You’re talking pollocks.

The first vhs tape my bruv rented from the video shop on Gilda parade when we got our first video recorder.

What was it called?  Bernco was back of Asda, so it wasn’t that!

I used to go there… can’t remember its name.  A few doors along from what would have been Norman Hunter’s sport shop - or was it a shoe shop? I reckon that had gone by the time videos were a thing. Or am I completely confused (not for the first time)??

Not the biggest isn’t great. I really think this team needs to increase its physicality all over the park. Pace would be the thing weird missing no mention of that.

It is our results against the current bottom 6 that gives me total confidence we aren’t getting relegated!

That’s really interesting and also starts to explain our home form.  The good news being that, in the second half of the season,  far more of our home games are against our fellow bottom half gang…. Good home form ahead?
I’ll ignore the fact we have the top 3 away from home!

Nope. And fwiw I've actually seen him play live - for Bath .v. Torquay.

Morton and HInds played for Bath that day, too, Janneh, Andrews and Lemonheigh-heigh-it'sthemonkees for Torquay. None of them screamed "Championship player in the making" to me.

Cundy has done all that's been asked of him since then of course, so you never know for sure. But I have my doubts. Happy to be proved wrong though.

Anyone know where Morton disappeared to? He was leaving, then it fell through but I don’t remember him being released and never plays for the U23s. Not that I’d expect him to be Champ standard, just curious.

£100m seems pretty cheap. It's the price of a single world class striker. Wasn't Newcastle £450m recently? A 'controlling stake' is normally at least 50% plus one share, often 75% plus one to account for special resolutions. That would value the whole club at only £150 - 200m. Seems very low?

If true then £100m for a stable Premier League team really puts into perspective the £80 - 100m investors are being asked to stump up for Derby - a basket case Championship side destined for League 1.

Agree it seems weird…. Do they own the ground? Surely the land that sits on alone must be worth several tens of millions?
how can the whole business be valued at less than one year’s tv revenue? If this is correct: https://www.statista.com/statistics/240912/broadcasting-payments-to-clubs-in-the-english-premier-league/

That I do not doubt.  LJ should’ve gone over his head to SL…and if SL backed MA, then LJ should’ve resigned.

I never quite understood the alleged Warnock quotes “I’ll have Reid and Pack” because they were a year apart ???

Not doubting this but LJ never did himself any favours with the “having final say on all transfers” tripe.  He was too often stuck between “corporate Lee” and “head coach Lee”.  Maybe the corporate people (person) swayed his footballing judgement too often?

Actually, it is people not person. For all the criticism of MA, someone employed him, trusted him and was ultimately guilty of falling asleep at the wheel.

    Chris Honor nails it…(paraphrased)

…”we should’ve made more of an effort to keep the likes of Korey Smith and Marlon Pack”

Ultimately we have a worse squad that costs more.  The wages from 17/18 weren’t that much lower than now, but shows that we’ve paid too much for average players.

At least we (Steve Lansdown) have learned from past mistakes… remember how much worse the relegation squad was than the GJ playoff final one? Presumably at far higher cost. GJ himself was talking about “only bringing in players to improve on what we have” (manager cliche #732) but bought a succession of like-for-like mediocrity.  We’ve done it again, dismantled a decent squad with spirit and spent the dosh on a right old mess!
    We go again!!!!!

  12. Merry Christmas from Lancashire.

Stay safe everyone and stay strong if this isn’t the best time of year for you… the “joy” of football is just around the corner! I’m looking forward to being back at The Gate in a few days for a slice of normality.

Something like the design of the black shirt with the slim purple and lime stripe (Tomlin versus Fulham I think)

Yeah you could easily do that in red, white and black…. Key is to stick to it. Palace still regularly use the white with diagonal blue/red stripe - that’s another unique example.

Eh? Sampdoria hardly wear ‘plain’ and ‘unique’ blue and white if you’re including the ‘stripe’ (hoop?) - zillions of clubs wear blue shirts and white shorts - Sampdoria ain’t special ...

try reading that again… I’ve said the stripe makes it unique. If it didn’t have the stripe/hoop what would it be? Plain blue. All I’m saying is City could do something similar so we stop looking exactly the same as forest, Charlton, Swindon, Barnsley etc etc.
