Been there, done. Djuric and Martin the most recent.
Having a target man these days is old school. Its weakness outweigh its effectiveness.
There’s a tendency with a target man up top to lump ball upto him looking for a knock on that rarely pays off and 75% of the time City are on the back foot once possession is lost.
Proper managers adopt more sophisticated approaches to creating chances these days.
Agreed.
I did like Duric though.

Cole was on loan first though. Iirc
Correct.
But we can't have an Andy Cole these days because we couldn't possibly afford to buy him.
And iirc he wasn't the greatest influence in the dressing room (or locker rooms
), which was why he was sold.

A Prem loan would be ideal. Remember how Andrew Cole and Tammy Abraham were nobodies when we borrowed them, and they didn't do badly for us, or themselves.
Cole we signed permanently.
Abraham was when we were throwing £££s at the wall and hoping some would stick.

If Sam Bell played every game this season I reckon he could get at least 10-15 goals.
If Nahki Wells played every game this season I reckon he could get 15-20 goals
If Tommy Conway played every game this season (he now won't) I reckon he could get 20+ goals.
Weimann got 22 goals a couple of seasons ago. Cornick is still a guess, but could have 10 in him. Yeboah looks exciting too.
That's before you add in the likes of Mehmeti and Sykes.
We haven't yet clicked up front in the first TWO LEAGUE GAMES!! And we scored five in the cup.
Given the apparent lack of wiggle room regarding the wage budget, I don't think that an additional striker is or should be a priority.

If a manager with a proven pedigree gets us to the Premier League, then said manager will get the credit for it, not Stephen Lansdown.
That's why he only throws his money at novices and projects, and only gets decent managers in to get him out of the s***.
That's the bottom line.

Not in the slightest. Just pointing out that you seem to be using the word in the completely wrong context. Just trying to help.
Maybe I should have said 'joke police'.

Nige just said his knee is swollen, they have had it checked (£25m riding on that x-ray/scan!) Nothing serious, should be available next weekend when the swelling has gone down.
Don't think Nige is bullshiting given his distaste for BS
I don't ever expect BS from Nige, but in these situations directives generally come from above.
Relieved that it seems the injury is genuine.

Actually Nigel said it's a knee injury and they have to wait for the swelling to go down. So not just 'a knock'.
Ah... fair enough. Hadn't seen that.
Phew... thanks.

I don't....think it's a genuine injury.
(I could be naive)
I'm inclined to think you are being naive, Dave.
Just described as 'a knock', with no details given.
Would 'a knock' keep him off the bench? Possibly I suppose.
I hope you are right though, obviously.

If sold, then he will go for our valuation, no doubt.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see four new players in.
GK, CB, CM/CAM and a striker/forward.
Some additional depth would be great for us and help us through the season with busy periods and injuries
We won't be spending the money. Wage budget maxed out. Apart from what Scott is on, I suppose.

West Ham have given Southampton 24 hours to respond to their latest 30 million pound final offer for Ward-Prowse which is expected to be rejected.
I might be putting 2+2 together and getting 5 but maybe they are aware that Bournemouth are close and may move for Scott if JWP is a no go? Hence them giving Southampton a deadline.
Would rather him go to them. Would be the perfect move for him imo.
And I am ****ing sick of Bournemouth poaching our talent.

Where have you seen he had a knock? He was just left out wasn't he?
Odd decision, but he only had about 5 goals that season, he wasn't prime form Lita at that stage - still would have caused Brighton massive problems, didn't they have a really slow defence that day?
Saw the tweet though and couldn't believe he was still playing. Southern League Prem at 38, fair play.
Don't feed it.
