The argument being that Holden gets a bad rap, when he had less than a season to make a difference. Unlike Pearson, who's had 18 months and still hasn't made a huge amount of difference, yet many on here wouldn't dream of getting rid of him.

Does Holden get a bad rap from most fans?

I think most were and are sympathetic towards him. The blame certainly lay at other doors.

As we inevitably, inexorably slip and slide whence we came, and L1 beckons once more, I just cannot wait for the Radio Local bod to put the question that must be put: "Are you up for the fight, Nige?"

You are making good points, but you are expecting Nigel to implement them. For whatever reason, Pearson seems set on screwing over Nahki Wells career. He makes out he wants him here, offers him the chance to get in the starting line up, starts him and watches him flourish and look a top quality Championship striker, but then drops him as soon as possible to bring him back to the 5 minute cameo man.
You are expecting Pearson to reinstate something, he SHOULD have never changed, this constitutes POOR MANAGEMENT.

Weimann is bang out of form and the world and its wife/husband can see that. Pearson doesn't even sub him, let alone drop him. again POOR MANAGEMENT

Pearson has on many occasions not stood up for Pring, and has in some ways, tried to make out he is not good enough. Dasilva is not really a problem, but you are expecting Nige to admit he was wrong about Pring and play him ??

To play Sykes in Weimann's position, you are expecting him to drop Weimann?

The fifth suggestion is the only one he'll probably implement. A Naismith/Atkinson/Close/Kalas option of any 3 of 4 for a back three is probably Pearson's preferred back line anyway.

You are asking him to get right, simply things he wont look to do as it means admitting that he has been wrong in making the decisions he has. Pearson has the opinion Bristol City should be thankful to have him, he certainly thinks he is above us, so you are expecting him to acknowledge he is making easy to spot mistakes. That is PART OF THE PROBLEM! He thinks we need him, more than he needs us. Which is why he should have been sacked already.

Pure conjecture. And complete bullshit in my opinion.

Before the international break we were playing some of the best football we had done for a few seasons. I'd like to think we could get back to that, for me key things that have gone wrong (aside from too many individual gaffes):

    1. Conway & Wells have a great understanding playing together, we miss that link up play and should get back to it and leave Semenyo on the bench to come on as an impact player. I think I'm right in saying he has not scored since being reinstated to the starting line-up.

    2. Weimann has been bang out of form, drop him.

    3. Dasilva is neat and tidy, but not strong enough defensively and not brave enough offensively, Pring is better on both counts, play him.

    4. Sykes was playing RWB really well, bar the Sunderland home game where he could not be arsed to defend at all, but his crossing has become mainly poor and, like DaSilva, not brave enough in trying to get to the bye-line. With Wilson out, my only thought is play Tanner and try Sykes in Weimann's position.

    5. Neither Bents or Max are comfortable coming for crosses, so we need our best header of the ball playing mid-center half - that's without doubt Klose. Naismith should start LCB where he played so well for Luton, leaving Atkinson/Kallas/Vyner to contend for the RCB.

Get the above right and we will soon start picking up again.

Totally agree with all of that.

THIS TEAM IS SOFT AS **** I’ve never know a group of players that gave so little and thought they were better than they are , OUR hard earned money pay these flipping toss pots living each week but they don’t care once they go one down it’s over , no fight , no bottle  , I really hope I don’t see any of this shower of shit around town because I’m 50 years of going to ground this is the weakest bunch of men too wear a red shirt and before you lame happy clappers slate me , it’s time a few truths were told

The team at the end of the McInnes era was one that didn't give a sh*t.

    This isn't.

Yeah I agree, a couple of defeats next week would see real pressure on him. Lansdown may hold off until the World Cup to give himself more time to decide but the thought will be in his head now

I wasn't talking about him being sacked, but walking.

Really very poor today, struggled to pick out anyone who played well.

Their football is artless hoofing but we struggled to cope with it.

Didn’t help that the officials failed to spot a fair few dodgy challenges (you don’t end up having 2 centre backs with cut heads through coincidence) plus that ridiculous stuff on Semenyo but we do need to do better.

I’m not in the Pearson out camp, think he is far more likely to walk than get sacked at present.

I have a bad feeling that it may be imminent.

I've said it before we were doing Cotts a favour. Never seen so many crosses/passes hit their first man in dangerous areas. So obvious we didn't want to score.

    Are you implying match fixing?

Because it sounds like you are implying match fixing.

  9. All that talk of Chris Wilder since Saturday.

    Chris ******g Wilder?

When eventually Nigel Pearson is shown the door or decides he can't be arsed anymore, it's blatantly obvious who the successor should be.

    I can't believe nobody's mentioned it.

Sorry to disappoint you but whilst we would love to believe as you say at the moment the players are giving the fans very little to believe in and with the next two games being against teams we have a very poor record against even when on form good luck with the positivity as I think you will at the moment find it in short supply, sorry for being negative but hoping for better results is just that hoping.

He/she quite clearly stated 'positive posts only'.

It's incredible how dramatic our fanbase can be at times.

We win a few games and the forum is full of comments about us "looking likely to challenge for top 6".

Now we lose a few games and I'm reading comments about us "praying there are 3 worse teams this season".

Okay, yeah, the performance against Birmingham was diabolical, but why are we now assuming that's going to be our average performance standard for the remaining 33 games? IMO we've already shown that we have enough ability for our fate to be firmly in our own hands.

    Bang on.

    Hence my 'Mid table' post

Not for one moment did I think we were promotion contenders. But I can see a scenario (mainly injuries) where we can get sucked into relegation trouble.
I wish I had your certainty and I hope you are right. But it’s a season in which all 24 Championship clubs are competitive. Three are going to be very disappointed. And one of them might have 50 points.

Also, I think a bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth is inevitable after yesterday. It brought back horrible memories of last season. And the season before. People care and hated what they saw. Emotion - as well as the need for calm heads - is part of football supporting.

No problem with people wailing and gnashing teeth at yesterday's performance. I was one of them.

But it was pretty much our only truly woeful performance so far this season (granted Coventry wasn't brilliant either). People doom-mongering for the season and starting threads about Chris Wilder is just ridiculous.

In a league where, as you say, all 24 teams are competitive, it ain't gonna go right every week.
