The problem is that the people who accuse posters of being "Nige Fanboys" are "anti-Nige" themselves and so this debate will never be allowed to settle into a simple "what is Liam doing to hit target" discussion. If Liam shows the same tactical nous and ability to affect a game moving forwards that has been on display for the last two matches MANY DOUBTERS will get off his case. Some won't in the same way that some minimise the situation Nige inherited simply because they don't like/rate him or in a number of cases because he brought in Danny Simpson..........that's the crux of it with more detractors than you might realise.

Anyway, moving on, let's see if Liam can replicate on Saturday against another mob who are ripe for the taking after yesterday. Small steps but ones he needs to be taking.

    Bravo, sir. 👏👏👏

And what is wrong with that statement exactly?  I know what I would do if it was my money too - I'd do as I see fit

Even if it didn't work for over twenty years?

Even if in that time, what 'you see fit' and kept on trying to go back to failed. Every. ****ing. Time?

Even if you knew **** all about football?

But you're just hand picking some positive results/reasonable performances there Sir Geoff, which we can do for Manning too (Middlesbrough x 2, Hull, West Ham x 2, Leicester, Southampton).

What about Nige's home games this season against Preston, Birmingham and Coventry (I appreciate we won 1-0 but it was robbery and Cov battered us. In fact it was going to be shown on Crimewatch that night)

The football under Nige was largely uninspiring and he had the best part of 3 years to build a team. Aside from Scott, Semenyo and maybe Kalas, i don't really think he lost anyone else of note.

I have no idea how the Manning reign will pan out, but he deserves some time and a few of his own signings before we should properly judge him.

I appreciate my post goes against most fans views on here, so please don't get angry with me, its just my opinion CTID

No anger here. An eloquently put opinion.

I disagree that it was 'largely' uninspiring. Of course, there were poor performances and I am certainly not claiming that it was 'like watching Brazil' as it apparently was under Danny Wilson (I must say that my memory doesn't quite back that up either), and I won't harp on about the constraints that he was under, but he is a 'builder'.

    And he was 'building'.

    And we were getting there.

  4. I like this season's kit, although it's probably due to my era as it takes me back to the Jordan team of 1990.

It does also make us look like forest though.

As a personal preference, I like round necks and hate collars.

A round neck top of just red and white will always be my preference. No other colours, particularly black, as the last time we had black on the shirt we got relegated. As I knew we would as soon as I saw it. 🤣

Used to love the purple and lime for the away kit, but now it smacks too much of Tinnion. 😡

The sacking of Nige has been done to death and we need to let it go. That said - his dismissal did create a great deal of anger and frustration amongst the fans which, fortunately these last two wins has eased considerably.

We don't have any option but to 'let it go'.

Unfortunately, that decision and the (real) reason for it was yet another symptom and example of the ongoing cluster**** that is the ownership of this club.

That, I will never let go until they are gone.

Tbf I’m an xG cynic on the basis of individual chances. I don’t think you can boil it down to x chances from y position go in because it doesn’t account for ability of player, defenders, speed of chance, height of ball etc.

For me it’s useful as a validation of the points in bold above on a macro basis. The collective xG is handy as to whether  a team is under/over performing and whereas the table shows what has happened, xG more shows what would be likely to happen nine times out of ten (collectively) and points to where things were going.

Prime example (and to in part agree with you) - we expect Vardy to score at least one of his four. You saw that with eyes, xG confirms it and as a collective sample begins to remove subjectivity.

It’s not a magic bullet, and on a chance by chance basis it’s a bit crap. But as a collective “pressure” metric it’s pretty useful.

    XG??

We never this bullshit in the Eighties.

If it's Carl Shutt, it goes in. If it's Scott McGarvey it doesn't.

    Simple.

that was soo funny,to be fair to that kid,he/she didnt give up all game, all done in great spirit aswell, respect to the fgr fans having a good laugh with him/her. will definitely remember that more than the game.

(there was a rather overweight child at the end of the stockport fans leaning over  giving the home fans in the south stand the big un all game,no nastiness or anything, just straight forward honest banter) the diabetes chant was as close as it got .

    Aaaah!

    Now I understand @REDOXO's comment.

(I gave him a laughing emoji anyway to be polite 🤣)

Did he not say something along the lines that he introduced the more passive block as a way to preserve the players legs during the busy winter schedule... or am I misremembering?

    Jesus Christ.

Let's just forget trying to climb the table during the 'busy winter schedule' to preserve the players legs so they will be fresh for the arse-end of the season when we will consequently have **** all to play for.

    What a friggin' genius.

Yeah, was thinking about this earlier.

Manning may or may not pull something out medium term, still has a lot to do.

Those above him, the structure- still a shambles.

The one above everyone is the real problem.

Some of the match reports are a bit one eyed. A lot in respect of Leicester in the Times.

Double save by Hermansen not mentioned.

McCrorie hitting side netting at 0-0 not mentioned.

Penalty shout was mentioned, the Report said the one on Conway should have been.

It also mentioned us in the sense of:

"It was a result which will have gone some way to winning over the localswho are struggling to forgive Bristol City for sacking the former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson and bringing in Liam Manning, who hailed a "thoroughly deserved win".

Guardian report is a bit better although an interesting snippet.

'An win' doesn't allay any of my doubts about the Guardian.

The token revisionism - 'Tinman' this that and other is so, so transparent.

@Cole Not Gas explain to me how Tinnion gave Bell his chance.

He didn't sign him nor Conway. Tim Kirk did.

He didn't develop him nor Conway. Gary Probert did.

He didn't play him, nor Conway. Pearson did.

He didn't integrate him, nor Conway. Pearson did.

Aside from finding local loans (which literally anyone could resolve/organise, and some - Bells loan to Grimsby - were a waste of time), what's he done?

    Has he explained yet?

    No?...

    ... Go figure.

Luckily, not all our fans are as easily pleased as you, or we could find ourselves languishing below the Sags.  If you just blindly accept everything dished out by the club, what’s to stop them just getting complacent?

Although it’s not our choice, we are customers now don’t forget, so if we don’t like the product being served up, we’ve got every right to complain.

If you regularly went into a restaurant and kept getting served up shit food, only to be told by the owner that it’s his restaurant and he can do what he likes, what would you do?

The most sensible options would be to refuse to eat there any more, or keep complaining and try to get him to raise his game and serve up some better food.

In your case, it appears you would rather keep going back and eating yet more crap food without complaint, instead criticising anyone else who complains about the poor standard of the product.

Very odd behaviour and hardly likely to see any improvement, is it??

    No, actually.

Otherwise I might believe that the Lansdowns know what they are doing.
