  1. I love Sir Rickie Lambert. I love Dean Windass.

They are the biggest bunch of deluded supporters the football league has ever seen.

They go around acting like they are a massive club. All Teds have massive chips on their shoulders, and always have. That is why we hate the sh**.

As Gasheads we took an oath not to bite when we got relegated to the conference and simply stay silent and not mention Teds, but recently they have been unbearable.

I prayed for them to lose against Wolves. At least there is a god!

, no. You stopped talking about us out of sheer embarrassment at your club and supporters. You had your marathon "relegation party" thread that failed to happen and hen to add to the karma they fall out of the football league entirely, after already celebrating survival, not to mention against a team wearing a Rovers kit. You realised that after "coming for you" and countless optimistic posts spending the billionaire arabs money on lots of potential vanity projects, how you would be in the Premier league now you were the 6th richest club (in the UK or the world - who knows), how City would become irrelevant etc you realised your actually just another league 1 club, with no money, no success, an abomination of a football ground, and some of the most deluded fans in the world. Rovers world famous in papers for sexual assault, and punching police horses (not once but twice).

I love it when they talk down our stadium

    Compared to

So don't pretend you stopped talking about us for any reason other than sheer jealousy, and embarrassment of your own club (and no mater how much you claim underdog, etc it won't really hide/cover that feeling you have of slipping into obscurity, hell the fact you LOVE Windass -. Talk about setting your sights low, us losing a game or two is the biggest thing your club has had to celebrate in over 17 years).

  2. The season so far has left most Rovers fans unhappy about one thing or the other and generally wanting or demanding more.

However should we step back a moment and actually look at what Bristol Rovers football club actually is and who is similar out there.

If we do this then we can aim to make the ground and facilities the best compared to those whose history we parallel . Then the team can strive to improve our standing and thus competitors to compare against.

Firstly...we have to accept that BRFC have never played in the top flight ,so we should only compare ourselves to clubs who have also never reached that level.

Secondly ,we should look firstly at clubs who have similar balances across the divisions as BRFC.

So all said and done the list of most similar clubs are...

    CLUB-------------TIER 1----TIER 2----TIER 3-----TIER 4-----TIER 5 (and below)

    Bristol Rovers------0----------20--------59----------10----------1

    Chesterfield--------0----------20--------58----------21

    Tranmere Rovers--0----------11--------58----------18-----------2

    Walsall-------------0----------15--------73-----------9

    Rotherham Utd----0----------30--------48----------13

    Doncaster Rovers-0----------19---------33----------33

    Southend Utd------0----------8---------57-----------25

Others similar but not close enough being Stockport county ,Crewe Alex. , Plymouth Arg , Port vale , Lincoln City.

(some with better records some with worse)

So how do Rovers compare with those clubs off the field ?

Would the first achievement moving forward not to be to ensure BRFC have a better stadium and training set up than Chesterfield ,Walsall ,Tranmere ,Rotherham ,Doncaster and Southend ?

To give the team the footing to take the club upwards to find new teams to compare with ?

So a 15,000 all seater stadium with a decent training ground will do that.

It should be noted that only Burton in the championship have not played in the top flight in their history.

When you consider most of the crowds teams like Barnsley ,QPR , PNE get for example would fit into a 15,000 stadium .

Trying to compare or match with City is silly they have a different history on the field.

    tier 1 =9

    tier 2 =49

    tier 3=45

    tier 4=2.

As someone said...lets forget about Bristol city (for now) and start doing better than our real current competitors.

I was just saying we should not pretend the club is something more than what it is. The clubs I have mentioned all have similar histories to Rovers and that's despite Rovers getting far better crowds over the years than those clubs.

Potentially if Rovers were top four prem year on year they would get 50,000 crowds...but that's not happened so no need to prepare for that just yet.

You are so very right about the conditions the current fans have to put up with.

They need to be changed...hence the suggestion for doing the achievable now rather than living in hope and not ever getting anything.

A packed keepmoat style stadium at the mem would give all the comforts and a cracking atmosphere. In league one or the championship.

Bristol city's highest ever average in league one (or equiv.) is 12,864.

    Bristol Rovers is 13,026.

15-16000 is more than enough at league one.

    and adequate at championship.

If you ignore the 4 seasons in the top flight Brighton and hove albion share a very similar history both in divisional sense ,crowd sizes and moving stadiums.

However they really have no competition for support in the region.

Their forums have a few people who are not entirely pie in the sky,

  4. Soooom my uncle came over this morning with his family, mince pies, coffee/tea chat and exchange pressies. He is a huge Rovers fan, I chatted to him a bit and teased him about us moving upto 2nd place. He did not even know, I was surprised, I mean ok not following us closely I can understand, but he frequents the Rovers forums as much as I do these, so he did not see anything on there either. Just popped over to look at the Gas sites (why are there 2  - I mean the topics and replies are almost all copied and pasted), and no mention. I mean it's not like they don't talk about us on there (remember their marathon biggest ever thread about us "Relegation Party") so seems they are just ignoring our success, I guess hand over ears "la la la, can;t hear you" will mean it isn't happening.

Are we that soft skinned on here do you think, I am sure if they were in this position we would have a thread mentioning it, or in this thread, chatting about it - probably calling them lucky bastards because we would no it's not on merit :P

Must be sad to be so insecure, they really cannot exists outside of their echo chamber can they,

They`re over there at delusion central banging on about the catering again - they reckon the stalls had run out of virtually everything well before kick off. That sounds to me like a company just buying in what they think they`ll get away with no allowance for extra.

Oh, and one of them said they were still selling out of date crisps.

We had a corner shop years ago that did this, bought cheap stock with just a month or 2 left before it was going out of best before date - problem is you need to buy in bulk, so they were constantly falling foul of selling stuff out of date. To be fair though, crisp etc... it's not going to matter that much if it's a little beyond best before date.

You say rivalry, but even they dont see themselves as rivals any more.  The gap has grown too big for that. There may only be a league between us (more likely 3 leagues next season), but they realise that resistance is now futile as we head for the promised land and they head for 4th division obscurity.

Do Tranmere see Liverpool as rivals? I dont think so. Unless they can find a working Tardis, we are light years ahead of them now.

god I wish I had your confidence.

The only reason you're on here is because you're seething. Your club is in the news for underpaying it's staff, hitting horses, racially abusing players, ours is in the news for beating one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Of course you're bitter, green with envy. It'll get better, don't worry. Doncaster on the weekend..

Now wait a minute - hitting horses, plural - I mean you seriously think a club would be in the national papers for hitting Police horses not once but twice ? Ha ha what complete... oh... http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/woman-punches-police-horse-tries-11343750      http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/bristol-rovers-mansfield-police-horse-3493681

Anyway, the racial abuse, I mean it happens right ? We all hate it but there always seem to be low level racism amongst some neanderthals it's not like it is so bad at Rovers that the club had to make a press release to condone it or... oh  apparently they did, but mild racism, not like they are running around sexually assaulting people right... dammint        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2066560/Football-fan-gropes-mother-threes-breast-drunken-game-boob-cricket.html

they think they have the best fans, but continually pull Bristol's name through the mud in national papers because of their pathetic behaviour.

    At a Christmas social last night attended by a few who claim to have insider knowledge of Bristol football, I heard two rumours which even if only slightly true would make VERY worrying reading to the blue few;

1 , They don't own the Colony training ground site, it's on lease and haven't paid the rent for 3 months, ground workers are about to be ordered off site.

2, They have had to take out a short term loan to pay the players.

    :gasmask:

Henbury Gas, we know you read this thread on a daily basis, what have you heard?

Dwayne Colony own the training ground from what we were told. That they are not paying people is possible, but they do own it.

There was something wrong with the player wages, even some of the Rovers fans mentioned it, but they got shot down for the "rumour" as apparently if you don't know 100% of the facts then it makes everything you say a lie and your Ted scum trying to rock the boat.

  9. I imagine they will build something as they will otherwise be without any training facilities. I also imagine they will slowly build up the Mem, just think Rovers have to accept they will have to struggle on as they have. There is no money, only more losses and a small player budget ( they probably should get used tot he £135,000 over 2 years net figure)

    Just watching Football On 5.

Are Rovers secretly hosting rugby matches on the side?

Their pitch looks like it has been ploughed. Maybe the championship ready sprinklers have a leak.

Believe it or not their first team train on it sometimes - if it was in good condition then fair enough, but as it is.... go figure.
