  1. On five live this morning this was stated , plus Plymouth need a saviour.
  2. Joe Jordan thirty years ago? As for Rotherham's relegation. looks like they could be joined by neighbours Sheff W and (only 30 mins away) Huddesfield. With Sheff U about to exit the Prem, a lot of South Yorks sadness about.
  3. The OP asks "This question has always interested me, especially with the suggestions on here that SL should sell up, but what happens if he decides he doesn't want to be the owner, this isn't for him, and there's no one else waiting to buy the club?" Remember Rushden? Just 20 years ago City were playing them in League One. Max Griggs died and his relatives weren't interested so no more bank rolling the club. They dropped down the Leagues and in 2011 were expelled from the National League due to their unstable financial position. They have reformed but at a very low level, Bury; financial difficulties and expelled from the EFL August 2019. Reformed and now play in the 9th tier.
  4. Dennis Smith managed both clubs (at different times in 1991/92; When John Lumsden was dismissed, Dennis Smith was appointed manager. He was recommended by Brian Clough of Nottingham Forest and had guided Sunderland into the first division two years ago, but he had been sacked after the defeat at Ashton Gate in November.
  5. Their fans are pessimistic; https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/if-we-get-well-beat-tomorra.1631075/
  6. It appears City signed the wrong Palmer. Meanwhile is Cole related to Carlton Palmer, who according to some papers, was the worst player to ever play for England.
  7. Just found this on the Sunderland forum; https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/premier-league-eyeing-up-abolishing-points-deductions.1631030/ Basically want to scrap points deductions as per title and introduce a luxury tax. If that happens it'd provably result in the PL becoming a two horse race each year between the two state owned clubs. And would make a bit of a farce of the PL as a sporting competition. It would likely widen the already huge gap between the top and bottom clubs.
  8. From the Sunderland forum. The line in bold type sounds like City. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/safc-losing-100’s-of-1000’s-every-week.1630984/ Just curious as to how/why we’re losing (reports I’ve seen £300k a week) and how it would compare to others. Practically every club is a basket case in the championship, the majority hope to sell at least one player for a large sum to cover most of the costs and keep within FFP or as close to as possible. You will find that clubs who have gone for it this season (and don't go up) will cut costs like crazy next season and it can take a few seasons before they are ready to challenge again.
  9. For years if not decades Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth were all (seemingly) consistently in Div 3. It doesn't seem that lo g ago Brighton travelled to Hereford on the last day of the season knowing whoever lost would be dropping into the Conference (as was). Now those three Bs are settled Prem clubs.
  10. This 'uns also working; http://www.fawanews.com/Manchester City U18 vs Bristol City U18.html
  11. The Plymouth forum announced the sacking at 6.45pm and they're on the whole, happy about it. https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/ian-foster-sacked-confirmed.127640/
  12. That's ITV 4. As Southside said ITV 1 five past midnight.
  13. On their forum tonight; https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/bristol-city-post-match-round-up.127638/
  14. Every silver lining has a cloud. City could have climbed one place higher over Cardiff today, but having taken the lead, Coventry scored two own goals.
  15. A workmanlike team performance AGAIN. Max looked unflappable and after the first 20 mins, City had control of the game.
  16. They should have kept their 1898 shirts; that would have been more visible; http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Plymouth_Argyle/Plymouth_Argyle.htm
  17. OK; City grew into that. PAFC no longer have the monopoly of winning 50/50 balls and the Ref currently seems even handed. As for the shirts; the manufacturers insist on clubs wearing the away shirt on so many occasions to encourage fans to buy that as well as the home shirt.
  18. Quarter of the game gone; 1; the Ref appears to allow some shoving & pushing. 2; Argyle are winning every 50/50 ball.
  19. http://www.fawanews.com/Plymouth Argyle vs Bristol City.html this is OK and ad free.
  20. As so often in the last few season, oppos break down their left wing, City's right to get their crosses in. Why can't City wear red today?
  21. http://www.fawanews.com/Plymouth Argyle vs Bristol City.html is working for me.
  22. If this did turn out to be true, can it be backdated please so that City are awarded so many penalties the Refs missed.
  23. Differing views from the Green Army ahead of this game; https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/argyle-v-bristol-city-the-build-up.127606/ Liam Manning & Scott Twine fill me with dread. Their last visit to the Theatre of Greens was a day to forget for our beloved club. Be interesting to see who will be given the task of stopping Twine & quick feet Mehmeti. They Played For Both Kieran Agard, Paul Anderson, Ian Baird, Tyreeq Bakinson, Andre Blackman, Yannick Bolasie, Joe Bryan, Richard Davis, Keith Fear, Arnold Garita, Rene Gilmartin, Trevor Jacobs, Joe Lennox, Guy Madjo, Sean McCarthy, Alan Miller, Kevin Nugent, Karleigh Osborne, Scott Partridge, Forbes Phillipson-Masters, Bobby Reid, Gary Sawyer, Steven Sessegnon, Enoch Showunmi, Phil Starbuck, Ryan Taylor, Robbie Turner, Zak Vyner. Any more? Dave Smith Dave Burnside? I didn't realise Trevor Jacobs & Keith Fear had played for both. Correct if wrong but I believe Dave Burnside was a Bristolian, but never played for either Bristol club.
  24. I'm told by older fans that City once lost 5-0 at Plymouth on Boxing Day and that goalie Tony Cook was drunk. The next day was the return fixture at AG. Bob Anderson replaced Tony C in goal and City won 6-0. Dunno about you, but I'd like to see a return to "local" derbies again at holiday times with the fixtures just 24 hours apart. For some reason they always lwd to odd score lines such as I detailed above.
