Time for a statement of intent. Is it possible to say "must win" without getting sarcy remarks yet? Got to get a good win we need it badly

  4. From the Leicester forum; https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/134396-local-info-for-those-heading-to-bristol-city/ Nice to see its a sell out for Leicester followers, so here is some local info for those heading to west country Coming by road, yes it is good friday, but you never know how busy the motorway can be,so set out early from your departure point Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol YOU WILL GET LOST If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport It looks the long way round but its quicker. Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 10:30am please don't block drive ways or park on corners. There is now a clean air zone in and around the Ashton Gate area please check if your vehicle is compliant https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz If you are coming by train there is a local train service to PARSON STREET from Bristol Temple Meads which leave at 25 minutes past the hour Some of their threads on https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forum/1-leicester-city-forum/ are more left field than we get on here.
  5. Stan Matthews advertised Brylcream, so at a guess someone's decided, let's update that format.
  6. I believe the requirement is that there is no danger posed to players and officials and that all lines can be seen from the centre spot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdFwl11WUAg I minute in.
  7. Hey Rovers; there'll soon be a ground available at St Andrews!
  8. Meanwhile on BBC 3, it's Scotland 0 - Northern Ireland 1.
  9. Tonight after 10 mins and the defending is just like City's.

    Season 85/86

Trouble is divisional averages can be skewed. Wigan and Wimbledon in the top division would have lowered that and going back further; Man U and Villa in the 2nd tier. In fact when Villa dropped into Div 3 they'd get 20,000+ at home and had good away support as did Woolves when they were in the bottom 2 divisions.

    Season 85/86

Similar at WBA, except it was a brick wall.

    Season 85/86

I believe that 85/86 was the season when either Burnley or Lincoln would drop out if the League at the end and their attendance figures reflect that. My memory of 85/86; City were ninth in 1985/86 but did well in the Freight Rover Trophy as the cup competition was known. After winning the pool stage, City had a succession of home ties and reached the Southern final. They lost the first leg at Edgar Street 2-0, but won the return leg against Hereford three nil and became the second local team to play at Wembley. The first had been Almondsbury/Greenway in an amateur competition. The opponents were to be Bolton Wanderers. The two League games had both occurred near the end of the season with City winning 4-0 at Burnden Park and 2-0 at home. At Wembley they split the difference and won 3-0 with Steve Neville scoring two of the goals. Bolton’s best player was Mark Gavin who later joined City.
  13. And so it stayed; 2-1 to Airedrieonians.
  14. Right now the Scottish Challenge Cup final is being played between Airedrionians and TNS. This competition is for Scottish Championship, league 1 & League 2 sides plus invited clubs from Wales, NI and the RoI. TNS took the lead but are losing 2-1 with 20 mins to go. No non Scottish team has ever won this.
  15. Positive spin; City are just like England.
  16. Chuck in some ref decisions going against us and you see what I mean.
  17. It's near ly half time and it's (to me) like watching City. When the oppos attack, we look suspect. When we attack, it looks good down both flanks. Trouble is, the ball's put in and we don't have anyone capable of the finishing touch.
  18. Well done Chesterfield; confirmed Champions of the National League with five games still to go and they've scored 100+ goals. Have they any players, or coaching staff City could use next season. For those slightly older than me; one of their forwards is a fellow named Quigley.
  19. If you are connected with a non league team, applications are now invited for next season's cup competitions. https://www.thefa.com/news/2024/feb/29/fa-competitions-applications-2024-25-season-open-20242902
  20. Some of the locals here in P'boro' think Posh will bottle it. If they did come up, at least it's n away game I can walk to.
  21. Article in a newspaper today that AI can manage sports teams better than humans can. Who programmes AI and why ain't he snapped up by one of thee top clubs?
  22. But then we picked up to finish 10th; odd season though. Blackpool promoted to the Prem. Doncaster 12th and Scunny above Palace.
