  1. August 1997; The next away fixture was at Northampton where Crambe opened the scoring for City. David Seal equalised and then laid on the winner for Northampton. For some reason John Ward permitted him to play against City despite the game falling during the loan period.

    WBA reminder

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68556122 West Bromwich Albion have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association over crowd disorder during their FA Cup derby defeat by Wolves. "It's also alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters refrain from throwing missiles or other potentially harmful or dangerous objects towards the pitch."
  3. Wolves suffered a financial crisis during the early-1980s recession that led to the club coming close to liquidation in 1982. In the five seasons between 1981–82 and 1985–86 Wolves were relegated four times (although there was also one promotion in 1982–83), meaning the club ended up in what was then the Football League Fourth Division (now EFL League Two) for the first (and so far only) time in the club's history.
  4. Brainwave! 55 nations in UEFA, therefore only 55 Champions. We'll hold a tournament of them. Luck of the draw, no mini leagues, but H&A. Maybe Real Madrid, maybe Larne The lowest ranked 46 will have a 1st round game. The 23 winners with the other 9 would feature on round 2 and the 16 winners into round 3. The entire tournament would be over in five rounds. That way Managers will no longer complain of exhausted players etc.

    Sports 10!

I gave up on Sports 10 when the picture froze in the 2nsd half. Found Fawanews reliable. http://www.fawanews.com/Fleetwood vs Bristol Rovers.html for that. http://www.fawanews.com/Birmingham vs Middlesbrough --- CH 2.htmlfor the Championship game. All other matches are available.
  6. Bristol was a top speedway team in the 70ss; Phil Crump, Tormod Langli, Neil Boocock etc. Then they had to close; officially due to noise complaints by people living next to the M32. Swindon face housing going up on their track just as happened at Oxford & Reading.

    WBA reminder

City travel to The Hawthorns on Saturday 16th March. For those of us old enough; who will ever forget 17th March 1976? Not the highest scoring win of the season, but the most important.
  8. I'll be gone as well, but not in a box. I have requested my ashes be strewn on the Ashton Gate pitch. In an ideal world, the urn would be thrown at the Ref / oppo Manager / dirty fouling player of the Undertaker's choice.
  9. 1963(?) Rovers were at home playing in Div 2. City were at home playing in Div 3. The All Blacks were playing Western Counties at the Memorial Ground. All games had a 3.00pm ko. The busses and Police both managed to cope. For the record, City had the highest attendance that day. More recently there's been instances of City, Rovers, Bristol and Bath rugby teams all being away on a Saturday. These were for League, not Cup fixtures.
  10. With the boot on the other foot; Stan Matthews won fame for his club & country down the right wing. When Blackpool met City a cup game he struggled though. He was marked by Mike Thresher.
  11. In the Highland League Brechin City might be on their way back. Top of the table, 3 pts clear and 2 games in hand. There used to be a Brechin supporter who occasionally posted on here. Both clubs are BCFC and both have red & white as their colours was his reasoning.
  12. Last week Leicester fans were congratulating themselves, they are now safe from relegation.
  13. A generation before that; Alan Skirton to John Galley and befire that Bobby Williams to John Atyeo. Hmm three instances of reasonably successful City teams. I can see now what the OP was alluding to.
  14. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/forum/307118/bristol-city-v-swansea-city-match-day-thread-**updated/#17 Bristol fans and their team will be up for this, of that you can be sure. We'll do well to get a point out of this game. Going to be a tough game, would love a win to set us up for next Saturday but I think a draw will probably be the outcome. Is the away allocation sold out?
  15. Ten Haag this morning moaned about MUFC's injuries; If we didn't have so many players injured, we'd have won 14 more games this season.

    Book query

I've seen this book advertised. Any of you read it and is worth having please?
  17. Selection headache for the Swansea game?
  18. My first away game Dec 69 - lost to a last minute goal at Ninian Park. August 70 beating Wolves in a pre season friendly, only for Dougan to equalise just as the Ref was about to end the game. In home games in the 2007 / 08 season. In the 92nd minute City took the lead against Leicester, but only got a draw. A few weeks later, against Sheff U, City equalised in the 94th minute and still lost. More recently there was that 3-3 draw home to Sunderland and now Tuesday night at Ipswich. I'm sure many others on here know of many more instances over the last 50 years.
  19. I'll be watching Man C v Copenhagen, but not for the football. In September Copenhagen were playing in the Euro qualifying rounds and were away in East Europe. To prove they are hard, some Copen fans on the terraces removed their shirts. Some of the young Danish ladies there followed suit. Please BT Sport, show us plenty of crowd shots as the football will probably be boring all one way stuff.
  20. Preparing to have the roof cave in; Neil Warnock (yes, Colin) hasn't done too well at Aberdeen and might consider coming here short term, just as he kept Rotherham up last season. Having said this, I wouldn't want him full time though.
  21. Looking back what followed was typical City. Hull went up, came back after 2 seasons only to go up again. That same year 2013, Palace & Watford met in the Play off Final whilst City were relegated.
