  1. My worry is he is being lined up to replace jet. Hope there is no deal for a cash plus player deal after initial loan spell. I get the feeling Cottrell doesn't rate jet as much as sod! Hope I'm wrong!

what gives you that feeling, jet has played every game under SC, if he didn't rate him he wouldn't play him

  2. The truth is somewhere between the extremes of opinion.

If SL had never arrived we'd be a top half League 1 club with modest debt and in the very same ground.

If you're arguing that now he's dug a massive hole we can't afford to lose him, well, that's a different question.

I'd prefer to look at the difference between the day he arrives and the day he leaves.  That's his legacy.

and thats it, if he leaves tomorrow calls in the debt the club will fold, however if he continues to finances continue to improve the off field side of the club and we get back to the top end of the championship at least with the club making money then he's improved it,

We are alot better with him then without him, without him there would be no acadmeny no training ground no referbished ashton gate

  3. oh don't get my ranting confused with general consensus its just my personal feelings I'm just trying to point out that the most vocal on here are not willing to do anything about it the phrase all talk no trousers springs to mind,

I take the point on the chief exec and for all JL's faults communication is not one of them,

All I want is some more fan engagement and some accountability (i'm not one of those calling for lansdown to leave I'm quite thankful for him keeping the club a float)

  4. Root plays as if it's a 20/20??

    1st test 2(7) & 26 (86)

    2nd test 15 (80) & 87 (194)

    3rd test 4 (16) & 19 (88)

Would prove you are factually incorrect.

Prior is in a terrible run of form, but when on song could easily take games away from teams quickly; a trait that people were always very complimentary about. Now it's not working people are quick to shoot him down for his style of batting.

Australia's version of broad, Johnson - bats at 8 and is very aggressive.

It just hasn't worked for England this tour and really clicked for Australia.

Australia's most successful 2 batsmen this series have been warner and haddin. Both very aggressive and attacking batsmen.

I personally feel Englands top order have been too defensive and let Australia dictate.

The Aussies tore swann apart, whilst our lot just let Lyon bowl at them all day without putting him under pressure.

England's best partnership of the series so far was bell and stokes, Who both put the convicts under a little more pressure by being a little more expansive (not 20/20 style but not just sat blocking/ leaving half volleys)

Getting rid of Cook and flower is not the way forward. Regroup and go again.

with the same bunch of players?

we were very lucky to win the ashes over here, when was the last time this batting line up got 400+? when was the last time we hit more then 250 in the first innings in the first test,

The signs of decline has been apparant for quite some time now but England have done little to change it, They dumped Compton as he was coming good never really given keiswetter and the like a chance at test level, they won't play englands second best bowler Graham Onions, its gone back to the old boys club again, if you don't play for the right county you don't get picked

  5. 100% agree

Perhaps the supporters trust (thatcham ;) ) can get something going,

I do agree with a few things thats been said by both sides but with out dialog things will continue to drift apart, I do enjoy reading the e-mails we've had from JL and I think he is doing a good job on that front but the silence from the rest of the board is deafening, leaving poor jon to face the brunt of things,

If Dawe doesn't want to speak to the fans then he should resign as chairman and just sit on the board, bring an experenced chairman in to help Jon, he doesn't even have to invest we just need someone other then the current board to help change impressions,

Off the field we are nearly there on the field we are a million miles away and you can't put 100% of blame on the board but they do need to take some responcability and have some accountability,

  6. Completely saw the reason for these meetings at away games to assist with our "exiles" being able to keep in contact.

But maybe a controlled "open event" at AG8 would be good to do?

FAO Monkeh, maybe now IS a better time for it, get these questions addressed and then everyone can move on?

while we all would want it now peoples dates would have to tie up for example there would be no point in holding one in a midweek afternoon as 99% of the adult fan base would be at work,

The best time would be to advertise it and hold it pre-game say 1pm in the dolman hall and would be open to everone who has brought a ticket for said game (space will dictaite),

  7. Swann is coming to the end of his career.

    good point

Do you think his surgery has hampered him ?

He hasn't really played on spinner friendly pitches to be fair to him, I said him because he is cherpy and talks to the other players and shows encrougment, Cook is just too defensive and doesn't go after sides, and I just don't like broad for some reason no idea why but there is just something about him that rubs me up the wrong way,

  8. I would be interested to know the examples of how you have had contact with the club and how you have "never had a problem getting a response" please.

100% agree with you the ticketing situation has been a nightmare for a while, excluding the new system, things have never been the same since Jayne Maggs left, but saying that the "actual team" have also been helpful and polite whenever dealing with them.

I do wonder about us being the only club that hold these "forums", I know WSM FC have been doing them for years, but I can't believe that we are the only league club doing them.

As for SL turning up to a pub pre game, that has been a few years now, maybe this is part of the problem that people feel unattached to the club now?

I've never had much problems with contacting the clubs and getting answers for questions I may have had to be fair,

Perhaps DaveL can help us out on this one and arrange another Wolves away question and answer thing like last season, a few more infromal things like that could go a very long way,

It wouldn't happen right away because the bile is at its most potant at the moment but perhaps in the new year he could arrange something,

  9. people are quick to critise but are not forth coming with solutions,

If there is such discontent as some of these posts make out why isn't there fan protests sack the board chants from the stands and people getting together to see what can be done,

like at hull cardiff portsmouth chester newcastle man united and the countless other clubs fans that try to do something about boards they don't like,

The last time there was real protests in the stands that I can remember was against Laycock when Pulis was in charge,

Stop talking and do something if you want things to change

  10. Peterson should of gone 2 years ago, Prior, Root, broad bat as if its a 20/20 game thats englands problem, there is no one willing to sit and build an innings they are alabout slog,

Our bowling has been poor our batting has been worse and fielding has been a complete joke, some major changes are needed first would be for cook and flower to resign

  11. In your opinion of course, now we'll never know. My opinion is things were getting better and the team was starting to gel, especially away from home. I honestly don't believe we'd have been relegated with him in charge. Now it's all back to square 1 again ffs.

out of intrest did you think we got rid of johnson at the correct time?

  12. No wonder you're confused, there was no love fest, just hope that a respected manager would be given time to turn things round.

he had 46 games in charge won 11 of those and only 2 of those in the last 27 thats plenty of time for a team he built on his own (not other peoples players like with McInnes and Millen) he failed big time but people can't see past that 5-2 smashing we had at home to donnie on johnson,

We have never played attractive football under him every single stat that can be produced is against him yet people seem to think 22nd and another relegation will be fine,

If we dropped again under SoD he's have to rebuild again with more players as we wouldnt afford league one wages and could well be in the gas's situation next season,

It couldn't go on any longer, its the correct call

  13. Joke of a decision which completely goes against everything the board has said. We will get nobody in that is a better option than SO'D. This is summed up when the two favourites at the bookies are Steve Cotterill and Michael Appleton.

Now convinced we're going to be relegated more than ever. I hope the board is happy with this farcical decision.

ignore the booikies for about 7 days thats just where the money is going, when odds start to drop from 10/1 to 1/3 thats when you take notice,

and its a results business and we haven't got those so its the correct call, 2 wins in 27 if how JL termed it, no manager lasts with a record like that

  14. I disagree Monkeh.  I also disagree with your assertion that Warnock is the man for the job.  But hey it's City, so going from a manager who wants to work with a young team and make it the future to a classless dinosaur who is way past his sell-by date is more than possible.

    I despair.

Just personal prefrence thats all I've always like colin and in my view he's what we need given our current situation,

In hindsight I was wrong about robbins and we should of appointed him but thats by the by

  15. I think it absolutely has to be a new first-time manager.  The names being bandied either aren't suitable or have their best days past before them or were never much cop in the first place.  We envy clubs who had the foresight to give Adkins, Poyet, Rosler, Robinson, Rodgers, Martinez, Moyes and - hell - even Di Canio their first breaks but the only way we'll ever get a manager of that calibre is to identify them before someone else does.

Yes - inexperience is a risk but there are no experienced candidates who'd not be a risk.  It absolutely has to be a new appointment.  If it were down to me, I'd invite David James to an interview and see what he had to say for himself.  Throw in four or five more intelligent, articulate young coaches and former players who've got their badges and we might just unearth a diamond...

what about millen tinnion Merson etc
