Bristol win and score four tries or more, Ealing lose by seven or less and score four tries or more.

Highly possible from what I've seen of Bristol's defence!

I get what you mean now. Thanks guys.

Absolutely massive game this one, the 7pm kick off means I can't make it but at least it's on sky (which is great on mute)

Biggest game in years for Bristol, probably bigger than the recent play off final, win and we are promoted, lose and its right back in the balance.

Going for a 5-2 bristol win with plenty of tries and a last minute Morahan score to win it!

We need a massive step up from Bedford, the pack needs to be much stronger and we didn't see the best of the backs a couple of weeks back so we need them to get more involved

Got my hartbury tickets this week, I know it's a lonhg way away but excited for the bristol invasion there

Am I missing something, have the rules changed?

    They had about 40,000 there.

They had an initial allocation of 35,000 that was increased by another 5000 tickets when it became apparent Shrewsbury didn’t need their full allocation.

Like other City fans I’ve heard ridiculous claims of 48k, 49k and even 50k from Gasheads....I know it’s not like Sagheads to bend the truth but the middle tier wasn’t even open.

Incidentally, they call us ‘plastic’ but isn’t it funny how a day out at Wembley attracts a whopping extra 33000 ‘loyal’ Gasheads who couldn’t be arsed to go to their home games that season?

Just going to tag @Robbored here...

The Bristol Post is running an exciting new competition ....

The six big questions facing Bristol Rovers in 2018

When will work begin on the training ground?
What will a redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium look like?
Can the club keep hold of its best players?
Do Rovers have realistic Championship ambitions?
Will Clarke be given money to spend?
    How do Rovers replace Bodin?

    1) The Car Park is already under construction.

    2) Billy Smart's Circus

    3) When Crawley come calling you can't really stand in their way.

    4) If their Championship ambitions are never ever then yes!

    5) Yes, but he has to pay for the GoOutdoors discount card out of his own money.

    6) How much are lottery tickets these days? Ironically, a Preston player might inform Billy!

Think you'll find it's a sponsor a goat initiative. Use em to keep the grass down, flog the lawnmowers. Inventive these Jordanians.

For what it is worth, I played on a pitch once that was never cut with a mower, only sheep grazing. The groundsman got all the poo up (at least we didn't see or slide through any) and it was easily the nicest pitch I've played on.

I did a quick estimate of IQ for the the group of overweight deluded gonks

    I calculated it at 46

    Edit

Sorry , just thought , in case of confusion

that's a TOTAL (As a group)not an AVERAGE per individual

Glad you added the edit because I was wondering. I'm writing a book, well more like a pamphlet, about Bristol Rovers and their Supporters. I'm calling it "We Are The Gutter, But Some Us Us Are Facedown In A Massive Turd". I had reasonable statistics regarding average gashead IQs but your data will really help as I've now got IQ estimates for 24 Gasheads, just need to track down the other 2 and I'll have all of them.

Jesus mate......you've managed to slate a whole area based on a couple of streets. Next time you're down there, open your eyes beyond the Natch wall.......

Historical park looking across to Ashton Court and the Suspension Bridge, Victorian terraced houses selling at 400/500k, Bustling and "gentrified" North Street with all the amenities, large street networks of good order housing/communities, new developments planned for Mercedes garage, old brewery site, wickes site etc

He's just upset because back in the 80s he was sold a dodgy washing machine by a little cockney bloke with a yellow, three wheeled van on Duckmoor.

To find this out I had to go onto their website a click 'buy tickets'. I feel like my laptop now has a virus

Blackthorn End is now the Thatchers Terrace, other end (tent) is called the Brunel Risks stand

The insult that such a great engineer and Bristol icon is associated in anyway with that tent!

I'd be interested in a rule where if a game is disrupted by weather (going by Vaughan's statistic any game losing 24 overs will likely be a draw) then those overs must be made up on a 5th day.

Then you screw over fans. I know with test cricket you are never guaranteed the length of the game but if I booked 4 days off work to watch the entire game, and missed the 5th day because it rained at some point I'd be fuming. At least the other way round where I may book off 5 days and the game lasts just 3, I've seen the whole game.

This is particularly important for us Bristol folk as we have to travel to tests and may have booked hotels and transport that may not allow us to stay the extra day.

Vaughan put something on twitter that apparently the average test lasts 336 overs, just under 4 days of full play. Could mean more interesting declarations potentially.

You don't want too many games being lost by dominant teams that are forced to declare to try and win. It'll also increase the likelihood of a team trying to bat out a day, rather than play to score.

Also if the average is just under 4 then perhaps 33% of games need the 5th day. That is a lot of draws.

Having just watched it again, it isn't even the lad who had the bottle who Stokes ends up attacking! The lad with the bottle has a black hoodie on and that's who Stokes initially jumps on but then he moved on to start whacking the lads mate who doesn't appear to throw a single punch the whole time and is instead backing away and seems to be trying to calm things down whilst Stokes continues to throw punches and eventually ko him.  He'll surely get done for this and rightfully so IMO.

It's sad as he is such a brilliant player. Not the first brilliant all-rounder England have produced to struggle with booze. But as you say, rightfully so

I think you're right about Root at three @Welcome To The Jungle I just saw this from a Guerilla Cricket listener on twitter, a comparison of Root's overall test average against his average batting at three:

    http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/303669.html?batting_positionmax1=3;batting_positionmin1=3;batting_positionval1=batting_position;class=1;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

    It's a curse ;)

Those stats show that Root won't just stop scoring runs, plus he is a better player now. I still believe he could average around the 50 mark at three, which would allow our middle order to score more.

If he doesn't then we'll carry one with the losing of early wickets and loads of pressure on the lower order to bail us out.

  13. So for me the only way we can win in Aus is to sort the batting. The solution for me is Root at 3. He needs to step up and be the next Vaughan or Ponting, so if we lose that early wicket, to stand his ground. Even if his average goes down, it would give a chance to whoever is batting 4 and 5 to face and older ball and a less energetic attack, thus scoring more than we'd lose with Root.

Also if your captain is willing to take the bull by the horns then others may follow suit and our overall game may improve.

I'd also be tempted to play 6 bowlers (I know, I know) as Stokes, Woakes and Moeen are all effectively all-rounders. Take Crane so when the ball gets old, we can spin it both ways with Moeen and Crane. That said I may bring Wood in for Crane if he can prove his fitness as his pace would be valuable.

    XI for 1st Test

    1. Cook
    2. Stoneman
    3. Root
    4. Malan
    5. Bairstow
    6. Stokes
    7. Ali
    8. Woakes
    9. Broad
    10. Anderson
    11. Crane
