The whole idea of a 'cool' list is ridiculous to be fair. It's very subjective.

I've never heard of any of them apart from the footballers and Stephen Merchant.

None of those people are 'cool' to me, and I'm sure I wouldn't be to those who wrote the list.

Also - most of them I imagine don't live in and maybe even aren't truly from Bristol.

Imagine doing journalism training for years to end up writing such utter drivel. Christ...

I could have written your reply, word for word!

Knew I’d regret falling for the Post’s click bait! ?

A plaque about football's history! And why not?

I know there is the museum up north, but how many other plaques ought there be nationally? Or even in Bristol?

No chance of any in Bristol, they’d be torn down and chucked in the docks!

The easiest pickings would be along the road outside the Ashton, now that it’s become a clearway. It’s still full every game and as far as I’m aware no-one is getting ticketed. Is that deliberate? Or have I missed something?

Interesting one this! That clearway is under North Somerset and surprised nothing has happened (yet) whilst Bristol Council couldn’t wait to issue tickets on the A370!

Also, yesterday, most of the cars were parked we’re parked half way on the pavement, bet the cyclists will be reporting that!

I know they have started surprisingly well but Reading feature in 3 of these & have been on twice already.

5 games already (as opposed to our 2, both at home) seems quite a lot for a poorly supported, minor Championship club.

Reading is an easy trip for the London based film crew, although I’m sure Michelle Owen will enjoy doing the City game!

If you’ve got five minutes this is well worth a read over the challenges of running a non parachute club. Lots of synergies with us and notably, the owners have to fund a £12m shortfall each year unless there is a trading profit. So, basic maths says that they will always be at the edge of failing Financial Fair Play.

Also noting what’s holding them back from Cat 2 academy status (no indoor facility anywhere in the town)

Thanks for sharing, could almost have been written for us!

My view was that Aarons “obstructed” Wells, made more of an attempt to block Wells run than to make a tackle, so you could argue the first foul was by the Norwich RB.  I think that’s why the ref plays on…ie they both committed fouls, so get on with it.

I think he would’ve blew for a pen had Semenyo not scored.

As a fully qualified Dolman referee, that’s exactly what happened!

I’ve seen It happen far more than you think, so many times that I can’t remember which games it happened at.

I can’t remember the last time away fans were held back, should know as I walk through them every home game.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned before and that fans leaving later can often be picked off by waiting City fans, so police prefer to manage the situation by releasing all fans at the same time.

I witnessed the violent episode from the Lansdown away to my left. It seemed as if the Jacks fans had come in from the corner of the same stand. I wasn’t aware that they were latecomers - how would anyone have known that unless they were close to fracas?

Think this was the occasion when they’d been in hospitality, so we’re just late arriving at their seats.

They are not the only fund platform that are struggling, there is far less investment available in tough times. I have a SIPP with H&L but I have been considering moving a portion of it into a normal savings account to offset the losses I have incurred in the last 6 months, I am sure others have as well. Less investment, less fees for H&L.

They also didn't do themselves any favours by giving a high rating to an investment fund right up to the day it went bust.

You’re not alone with your thinking there!

Yes, the Leeds replay was a Tuesday afternoon definitely due to the power cuts

But I was referring to the first game at AG on a Saturday and just noted the KO time, which I don’t remember

It can only be for the same reason

I don’t remember that unusual kick off time either, which I guess was to clear the ground whilst still natural light - sunset was half five, which I (sadly) just looked up! ?

I was searching for something under my bed this evening (a signed Ricky Gervais programme, typically I couldn't find it) but came across these old City programmes.

(Also lots of newspaper cuttings when I used to write match reports for WSM in the local papers.)

I was thinking what a shame it is that those going to games now won't be able to look back on match day programmes as we don't produce them anymore.

Anyway these below are all before my time watching City (I started January 1987), I hoped sharing these would bring back great memories for those that went to these games but also show a different generation how our club once was

As a kid I used to love collecting programs, still got the first two, suppose it was before I could go to the pub before a game, although got served in the Supporters Club bar from 16!

If the way fixture is relatively close to a local airport, like Sunderland or Boro then the club sometimes fly on the same day as it’s only about a 30 min flight and there’s not necessary to hold a training session.

iirc the club have flown to East Midland airport when they played Forest or Derby. It’s potentially a long coach ride particularly on a Saturday with heavier traffic.

May be a 30 minute flight, but even with special arrangements it ain’t that quick going though airports!

They’ve previously flown to Teeside Airport and, I believe, Robin Hood Airport, but don’t recall East Midland Airport, which is only about 120 miles away?

If you’ve 15mins to spare it’s mildly amusing to see Sunday’s match through the despairing eyes of this young Cardiff supporter and his dad!

I did have 15 minutes to spare, but I wish I didn’t! Even for Cardiff fans, with that content, what a wast of time! ?

You know the best way to make the Portishead line happen and a decision made earlier? For Liam Fox to resign. That would focus top Tory minds very quickly and before you can say “by-election defeat”, it would be given the green light. Then Fox could lap up the local plaudits and improve his chance of getting re-elected. He’s been an MP for 30 years, so he’s well past the point of getting a full MP’s pension (20 years as an MP if you would like to know) anyway, so losing and retiring gracefully wouldn’t be that bad an option either.

But he doesn’t like his constituents that much, so he won’t!

Liam Fox is actually working with a Bristol South Labour MP to try and get this moving. The recent adjournment debate was a win which has helped the current move forward!
