The version I listened to on BBC Sounds cut off right at the end, could someone answer a couple of questions for me?

    1. Who's version of You'll Never Walk Alone was that?

    2. Who was the very final guest?

I only listened to BBC Sounds too!

The YNWA version was by Marcus Mumford and I think the “final” guest was Adam something, who was due to present the next Radio Bristol programme.

I keep looking at the title and wondering if it was an alternative to "Anything for the weekend, sir"?

Had your haircut on a Friday did you? Suppose you need to be of a certain age to understand!

In today’s press, de Zerbi states that he’s getting ‘used to working with algorithms in the transfer market’. But adds that he wants to ‘watch the player, to understand that the player has the right quality and characteristics.’

obviously Brighton’s  transfer policy has been very successful and relies on data and a recruitment team which is constant and not subject to the vagaries of hire and fire.
it only seems like moments since we regarded clubs like Brighton (throw in Brentford, Brighton et al) as rivals or indeed inferior. Their recruitment policies have allowed them to kick on.

Does Tinman have this great relationship with Algo? How much a role does data play in our recruitment?

Our youth policy has paid huge dividends this season and is really satisfying.

If we can hang on to our best young  players, then great, but in reality we’re a selling club. Therefore it’s stating the obvious  that getting the right blend of recruitment is key.

How good is our version of Algo?

Tinnion recently spoke at the Senior Reds lunch and he basically said what you’ve quoted in your first paragraph! He did admit he uses his eye, whilst other analysis the statistics to produce short lists for Nige.

  4. Looked at it for the first time yesterday and thought that’s good, until I realised all was sold out, except signed photos!

Something is seriously wrong, or they’re taking the pi$$, if a couple of signed photos are worth about the same as a coat!

I very much doubt it. Tins said at Senior Reds that we wouldn't be looking for another GK.

Tins also said we will only be recruiting players who we can improve to add value and, potentially, sell on, so this surely rules Bryan out?

Reckon a decision was made to advertise season tickets throughout the match. Which would suggest they aren't selling very well.

Got to say I'd rather see replays of the away goals than bloody adverts

I think currently they’re just using available media to advertise season ticket sales, especially knowing it was last home game and a big crowd.

For what it’s worth, I thought it was a poor decision and not well presented. They just needed to remind season tickets on sale and retain the time and score, for us who require reminding!

Shows a touch of class though if we did . No point being bitter about parachute payments . It’s an unfair advantage no doubt & has caused lots of problems for clubs financially trying to chase the dream. They’re still champions though

Interesting debate, always appreciated Chesterfield doing it for us!

Does anyone know how he’s doing?

He’s still in a care home in Newport, where he’s being looked after due to Parkinson’s, also his memory is none too good. Not well enough to travel to games for the various AG8 celebrations, where he’s been represented by his children.

I live in the area immediately around the Den and my local is one of Millwall’s top pubs and I rub shoulders with their fans every week so I feel like I have a pretty good feel for them. Only part of what you say is true, a lot is just cliche.

    • Yes the immediate area has the demographics you mention (more so African than Caribbean)
    • All are passionate about football but largely favour Arsenal and Chelsea and watch games on TV
    • This is really no different to any of the rest of us outside the top flight who lose local supporters
    • But as an example they’ll come in a Millwall pub to watch their games - there is no intimidation
    • There is very successful largely black youth football which has fed Arsenal, Chelsea and others
    • One mistake people make is associating Millwall footballing output to this talent on the doorstep
    • Millwall training ground is in Bromley (80% white) and youth academy is in Eltham (90% white)
    • So they are drawing from families in SE suburbs and Kent - black families locally push for Prem
    • Millwall does have black supporters, they’re 50+ proper flat cap wearing old school cockneys
    • Millwall fans are offensive but they do it to everyone, they slag Rowett off yet are in the playoffs
    • A racist element is there like a lot of clubs but in my experience it’s not the old school or local lot

So there is absolutely nothing which means the club is specifically excluding anyone or trying to be something different. To be honest, as it relates to their team right now, from what I gather it’s actually just Rowett preferring to play solid one dimensional experienced footballers to grind out results to stay in the playoffs, not to stereotype but that’s leading to the sorts of line ups and faces you saw over the last several games.

As an example, I get Millwall tweets popping up on my Twitter just by being local, I’d seen this tweet earlier before I’d seen this thread - it’s referring to an 80 year old Millwall fan who reckons they should be playing Esse, a black 17 year old who has broken into the first team this season. Even he appears to be complaining that they’re not currently playing talent like this, and it sounds like most Millwall fans agree with the point.

Watched the end of the Millwall v Birmingham game, after City’s game finished and Esse was brought on as a substitute. He does look a talent in the making! Needs to fill out a bit, like Scott did during the last year!

That round about has plenty of issues. People don’t seem to give way to people coming from gordano. If your in the Albion all you hear all night is people beeping

Well, it’s also a sports bar and I’ve sat there watched the action you’re referring to!

Sodbury High Street many a wild night spent up there. Still get up there once or twice a month. Doesn't get as busy as it use too but still have some good nights up there. Only problem is the Tudor Raj (curry house at the top) going down hill.

Yep, agree regarding the Tudor Raj, hasn’t been good since before Covid, big change of staff. A few beers in the Horseshoe makes up for it though!

Can you seriously imagine a coach trying to get in and out off the old mill car park ?

Reckon it’s easier than the Albion as, apparently, a couple of WBA coaches were there for the cup game - missed seeing them as I was already in the Coopers!

They were trying to claim a huge following in Portishead the other day, all I can say is they must keep their heads down because I don't see many of them.

There’s just Keith, who walks around all day with his clowns outfit on and the daft tart with gas in her number plate!

Steve Lansdown recently did a lengthy Q & A at the Senior Reds lunch and when asked, he agreed to provide the same at an away game as previous, with the stipulation that someone arranged it and provided him with date/s option.
