A thread most likely to disappear down/off the front page quicker than Water Company shares dropping after Labour winning the next election …but bear with me.

Was out with my ex-Bristol childhood neighbour who stayed down here for the weekend, someone who choose the wrong path and became a Gashead. It’s ok, I don’t need sympathy, as I claim it as a ‘care in the community’ duty for tax purposes. As usual, took him down to the bright lights of Teignmouth/Shaldon for a couple of evening drinking sessions. This is equivalent of going to Las Vegas for our Village neighbours.

Always end up in T’mouth at The New Quay when they have live music. Quite possibly the ‘best’ music venue in the World with the right band on the right night. This small, edgy, tatty, mostly locals venue absolutely bounces on a calm, sultry summers eve, spilling out on to the quay and back beach. Indeed, it’s not unknown for the barmaids to start dancing on the bar when things reach ‘fever pitch’. Jon! Put those ******* crayons down will you!! Highly recommended - but not the place to take liberties.

Anyhows, to the crux of the matter. The band was working the crowd into a frenzy with a well-structured playlist but suddenly go from ‘Zombie’ to Smokies (remember them?), ‘Living Next Door to Alice’. I thought wtf is going on, but everyone around was still buzzing. Then realised this was a right crowd-engager with the chorus line supplemented by mass audience participation of ‘Alice, Alice who the **** is Alice’. Nearly took the roof off and windows out every time.

So got me thinking, while my Gashead mate was slumped in the corner of the pub, dribbling and muttering something about needing ‘Irene’, …..

The Gas have got ‘Irene’, Stoke have ‘Delilah’ … how about City having ‘Alice’?

Always thought the first to sing this, with Smokey backing, was Roy Chubby Brown?

I can hear it now. This is an emergency test of the PA system in the Dolman Stand. If you hear this tone, followed by instructions, please wait for a safety steward to direct you to the nearest emergency exit, thank you.

It may look 100 times better these days but my do we miss the old Ashton Gate. Opposition teams have it easy now.

Another old announcement: “Mr Ashton is no longer required in the Dolman”

Can't understand why we don't sing the song that Stevie Wonder wrote just for us.

    Living for the City.

Agreed, this is something I’ve requested before. Just make sure it isn’t the full length version, as it isn’t appropriate for today’s audience!

When I was an 8 year old in about the fourth match I seen City play, I was in the East End with my father, Bristol City v Sheffield United. In a very close, contentious game Tony Currie scored the only goal of the match in the East End goal. As thousands were hurling abuse towards him from the stand when he scored, he stood in front of the East End blowing kisses. The showmanship was superb it knocked spots off of booing the villain in a pantomime and the impression it left on me has remained vibrant for over half a century.

It summed up what football is all about and to me it defines the opposing reactions to a goal in the game. I much prefer this to having to mute celebrations in case of hurting the feelings of the already aggrieved at having conceded a goal. I love rubbing it in when I am elated at City scoring but equally I can take it when it's reciprocated.

Think they went up that season and we struggled a bit to stay up, but this was my favourite times watching City and it only got better!

Re the not scanning, did yours work ok v PNE? I wonder if some of the readers need a stronger signal or are misaligned slightly. Because it took forever for mine to trigger v PNE. I changed turnstile v Brum, and it worked perfectly first time.

    You changed turnstile??

    No wonder we lost!?

I was on about actually moving the kick off of the match, rather than whether it could be streamed or not.

As a point on that though - don't games moved from 3pm, for non-TV reasons, still 'count' as 3pm games, so can't be shown. I've always thought that was the case.

Not just the kick off that’s been moved, it’s also to a different day!

    From Hull's OS

Both of Hull City’s Sky Bet Championship matches against Bristol City have been moved to Friday nights.

The Robins’ visit to the MKM Stadium in our second home game of the season will take place on Friday 25 August to avoid a fixture clash with Hull FC.

The reverse match at Ashton Gate will be played on Friday 22 December, with both games to kick-off at 7:45pm.

Think Friday’s game kicks off at 7:30?

Do you mean those held at away games?

I'm not aware there is one planned, whether that means never happening again I don't know for sure

Steve Lansdown said he would be happy to attend a forum at an away game, but he’s not organising/arranging one - if one is organised, obviously with notice, he said during his Q&A at the Senior Reds lunch that he would attend!

I don’t think Lansdown wants him here long term, all boils down to that imo.

Lansdown appears to be loyal to his employees, perhaps often for too long - so why doesn’t he want Pearson here long term?

Alot of people in Section 82 spent the first half creating & flying paper planes. It was some of the most bizarre behaviour I have seen for a long time.

Predictable behaviour, doubt the club will allow any future initiative like today, which was done, apparently, in good faith.

Full at Kick off,  but even section 82 was half empty before FT

That picture was taken just before half time?? I sit in the Dolman, but didn’t realise it gets that empty, also same with the corner of the South Stand!

Poor old 'new guy (covering) Rovers', hard to imagine there's a more a depressing way for anyone to spend their time.

Presumably he has to constantly somehow try and make out there's something interesting about them. ?

Tough job, seemed to turn the last bloke a bit loopy.

Need not worry, jailbird Joey is refusing to speak with Bristol Live!

I had a car stolen from outside Ashton Gate , local Derby.

I say stolen, the Police took it something to do with where I parked. But it counts in my book thieving ***** :disapointed2se:

Same happened to me, taken from outside the Rising Sun 3:15! At least the bar staff were watching so I knew it was lifted onto a low loader, had to go to somewhere off The Feeder to collect - BASTARDS!

Mine doesn't say anything about the next fixture..... but then again it's a physical one so I don't have to deal with these 30 pages of issues that were entirely predictable when it comes to City and rolling out anything new digitally.

Bit of a contradiction there, as you’re posting on a 30 page thread, helping it get to 31 pages!?
