I can give you 35,000 reasons. (Obviously a lot more)
I hear you but I doubt any of those 35000 would want their families or any of us to be beaten by this virus. We have to rise above it as opposed to give into it, be positive and be strong and get back to normality as quickly as we can. It's the only way to win.

what effing difference is that gonna make?
got 2 hopes watching football in October too
They feel at that time people will be able to spend time away at Main cities/seaside resorts together without distancing during half term to enjoy themselves. Why are people so ******* negative. Beats me.

Govt looking to fit in extra Bank Holiday in October to help with British Tourism. Think that is a massive pointer to us being back to normality then plus us being able to watch our football team from the stands !! Here's hoping !!

Six players tested positive already in the Prem. Not a great start but not massively surprising. Will certainly give ammunition to those not wishing to proceed so soon though.
They can isolate them and squads in both Prem and Championship are enormous so no issues there.

Not a chance
A very good chance I'd say. Let's just say I'm very close to what's happening within the hospitals and we are winning.

Would be great if you are right but there will be a second wave.
I'd imagine it'll come back on a yearly basis to some extent but nothing like the original wave and nothing that we couldn't cope with going forward.

Me thinks you are in for a shock.
October date formed part of Boris's 50 page plan of getting back to normal and Lansdown stated that fans could be back in the Autumn. Numbers if virus infections have reduced dramatically in the last week as well as deaths and hospitals are surprised how quickly numbers on wards are reducing so it does look as though things are improving at a faster rate than those two aforementioned thought. Long may it continue.

We really won’t. I’ll happily have a £50 wager with you with the winnings going to a charity of the winners choice that we are not back watching football at AG by the end of October. Will be incredibly happy to lose the bet but no chance!
You are on !

He’s talking tens of thousands in attendance, standing shoulder to shoulder and no need for face masks etc, we won’t have fans back in stadiums for football at the same amounts until there’s a vaccine.... if there is one
We will be back in grounds by October at the latest, September even, if the rate of infection continues to drop as it is, vaccine or no vaccine. It will be virtually non existent by then.

Trump talking about having no social distancing at The Masters for Golf in November
Why the surprised face? You did mean November yeah? If we still have social distancing then like it is now then we are all doomed!

I’m pretty much resigned to City missing out if games don’t restart, because none of the PPG methods work for us, however....
....Peter Loehman, a Danish, Sheffield Wed fan, who I follow on Twitter has come up with another method. His method is less about finishing the remaining 100+ games and buying some time to complete a new form of playoffs.
Ultimately, he proposes more of an elimination type playoff, where we get a one off chance away to Forest.
if we win that we’d go into a 2 legged play off. It basically gives clubs down to 8th (in Peter’s model we fall below Millwall based on the strength of our remaining fixtures) a chance. Ditto for the clubs in relegation battle.
It basically requires 14 matches to be played, instead of the 113.
Don't worry yourself over it as the season will be completed now

I appreciate I’m on a forum about a club I dearly love, but does anyone else feel like I do, in that I really couldn’t give a **** about this season.
If the new season starts in August, fine. If not, I don’t really care.
Can't agree. Football starting up will be a massive boost to the well being of many thousands.

Add in 300 people in the ground , players , staff , media etc
If the clubs get their way and refuse to play at neutral grounds , how do they travel to away games , do they stay over ? Are we then testing hotel staff etc? If the players go home after a game do we test their families?
Completely after it is naive to think that fans won’t gather to watch games , celebrate winning the league , getting promoted etc. IF football comes back , we will see games of a ‘kick about’ in local parks etc- 1000 people have died in the last two day’s - it is far too soon to be considering this.
Sorry to be a killjoy but if football clubs are able to source these number of tests and test resource - these should be used for NHS staff not tested , care workers , bus drivers , supermarket workers , refuse collectors , post men & women , nursery staff , school teachers and any other key workers - if they’ve all be tested happy days let the football commence
No way will they test key workers who don't have symptoms. If one tests positive then whole teams of key workers will have to isolate. They won't risk that or else there will be no one left !

Just a random thought. If the Government say that football can resume behind closed doors from, say, mid-June that will only apply in England. If the Welsh Government (who have been much stricter throughout all this) say it can`t where does that leave Cardiff, Swansea & Newport? Neutral venues for their `home` games?
Just threaten them with relegation that'll sort it.

I think this is going to come down to player power , Villa have already said they will have three players who won’t be able to play due to health issues.
Sterling has come out with concerns about returning (reported he has lost a family member to Covid), Aguero has also said he’s ‘scared’ to return and Danny Rose has spoken out about the return of football. These are the players we know of.
Football bodies won't buy it. Thats what squads are for.

Bowyer calling for the table to be as it was after 23 games so everyone had played each other once, says the club would be killed if they were sent down.... so how were they planning on surviving if they were relegated normally?
After 23 games top 3 were 1) WBA, 2) Leeds 3) Sheffield Wednesday..... 22) Barnsley, 23) Wigan, 24) Stoke
Insane suggestion isnt it !

@Kid in the Riot what’s the view of our club / players of restarting the season ? Not that I think it will happen
LJ has already stated everyone is in favour of restarting season.

I'm sure the Premier League will try and finish the season like the Bundesliga and La Liga, but the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2 are surely over now.
Regarding the Bundesliga, La Liga and Premier League it is clear that the players are not going to agree to being in team isolation for the seven weeks required to finish the season. This means that during the time set aside to complete the season, the players and staff will still be living at home and therefore be exposed to the virus through contact in the community. This will almost certainly result in players testing positive for the virus during the season as has already happened at Brighton and Dresden.
Once a player or member of staff tests positive then that entire club needs to go into self-isolation for two weeks; how does that club then fulfill its fixtures? It can't. What if it comes out of isolation after two weeks only for another player to test positive a few days later? Another two weeks of isolation.
The thought that this could actually work in practice is mad. The chances of any of these three divisions being completed must be tiny.
Agree that L1 and L2 season will almost certainly be over bar promotion and relegation arguments and clubs will be compensated. Don't agree re Championship. Think most if not all clubs in Championship would be able to take financial hit re football behind closed doors and would also vote yes to getting season finished. Convinced they'll be given green light to start training soon and then conclude season in June.

Every player will be expected to return to training but I dont expect the club's will force them to return. That said, 6 confirmed cases has to be better than anyone could have expected from the number of clubs tested. It'll surely give players and staff confidence that there is a way forward and that they can push on from this point.
