  1. He’s only 34 years old. Bit young for Rovers
  2. Back in the dark days of the cold war nuclear submarine commanders were faced with a difficult dilemma should they receive an order to fire their Polaris nuclear weapons. How did they know that the UK had been attacked by Russia and the order to retaliate was genuine? The solution was simple - surface and try to listen to BBC Radio 4. If this was off air then the UK had been wiped out as the BBC is never off air. I was beginning to get a similar feeling when OTIB was offline for so long. Had the UK been destroyed and nobody told me?
  3. Good idea but is it possible? In reality as a stand get higher it gets deeper. In the case of the Atyeo it would mean that the stand would get closer to the houses. A taller stand that was closer to the houses would impact on the light they receive.
  4. I’m not sure why City ever spent any time on this proposal. It would have looked good but the chances of it being given planning permission, due to the houses, was very low
  5. This is a very good suggestion apart from one thing. SL has previously said he likes things to be run with a committee of one - himself. City could have any official management structure but, in reality, it would be SL who made the important decisions
  6. There are obviously different ways to look at any situation but, to me, it’s a perfect example of why City has only scored 5 goals in 6 games. It’s not just Cornick. Overall, though there’s lots of good buildup, there there just aren’t goals in the team. To push for the playoffs a team must have forwards, midfielders and defenders who chip in with a few goals. This just isn’t City at the moment. The stats for today’s game show City had 14 shots with only 3 on target. Of the 3 on target Cornick’s was the best chance. The rest were powderpuff efforts. A lot of the 11 shots that were off target were hopeless shots from good positions that should, at least, have tested the keeper. (Even worse for WBA - no shots on target even though they had some good possession / attacks in the second half)
  7. Stupid questIon Edit - I’ve now watched the replay and it’s even worse. He shot straight at the keeper. Aim for the corner and it would have been a goal
  8. A scuffed shot that gave the goalkeeper a chance to save it
  9. Do you still refer to the Dolman by the name of its predecessor - The Cowshed?
  10. This is the problem that @TheBigFatWurzel conveniently ignores. Splitting the Lansdown (not the Williams) stand would involve a major rebuild to ensure segregation in the upper and lower concourses. It’s not going to happen. These crazy ideas crop up on a regular basis. Perhaps we could have an “oh no not again” emoji. In fairness to the OP he/she only joined in August so hasn’t seen the dozens of similar threads on this subject. We’ve got a separate transfer section so why not have a separate one for Ashton Gate rebuilds? (and send the suggestions direct to SL so that he can splash a few more millions)
  11. Playing in the dark need not be a problem if the players wear glow in the dark shirts. Rovers may be trying to cut down on their electricity bills by abandoning floodlights altogether
  12. …..an obscure, eccentric novelty act? That sums up Bristol Rovers in a nutshell
  13. You were at the Isle of Wight festival and you can remember what you saw! Strewth

It’s got nothing to do with the sun. The refined intelligential sit there and discuss the finer aspects of the game.

This Dolman layout must be pretty similar to the earlier proposal. It looks as though the South Stand was divided in this image, a bit like the Dolman. I can vaguely remember a plan to have it split with the standing in the lower section
  16. Miah - Seasick Steve sang a song about you - I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most of It Left. Perhaps it could replace the awful Irene song
  17. Although there are some sensible people on the Rovers’ forum who realise how shambolic the club is, there are still a lot who are totally deluded - e.g. “I think we knew that Wael and co were hard bargainers after the UWE collapse. That's a good thing, we want a good deal for the club ultimately.” How can anyone believe the UWE and Fruit Market stadiums have fallen through because of Wael’s negotiating skills? They’ve fallen through because, as always, Rovers don’t want to spend any money.
  18. We’ll, it’s given a lot of people a lorra lorra laughs
  19. Torquay won again today to move into 3rd place in the league. Gary Johnson wants to retire but he’ll keep going until Torquay get back into League 2 just to annoy @Robbored
  20. That’s better than Rovers Santa’s Grotto. If you fancy “keeping your hand in” and doing a bit of free work for them, then you’re just the man they’re looking for
  21. Perhaps it’s just a case of stupidity by the new owner, who knows nothing about football - e.g. 5.00 pm Wael phones him to say he can have a deal at £800k. He checks the piggy bank and decides it’s just about possible. Later he realises it’s £800k + £200k add ons + 3 years salary + agents fee. That’s when panic set in and the cunning plan of missing the deadline was devised
  22. Does anyone know if the watch is genuine or a fake? Perhaps it’s just an outer case with no inner parts.
  23. You can unbolt just about any steel construction, but is there a market on eBay for secondhand stands? City gave away their old floodlights a few years ago, but nowadays even non-league clubs tend to design and build their own stands. The Rovers stand has the disadvantage of having numerous pillars supporting the roof, which just doesn’t happen with new builds anymore
