  1. His landing now, disguised as the late Queen.
  2. Just so. LJ signed Szmodics and then wasted a few million on Kasey Palmer. There is wasn’t room for both in the team so LJ decided to put his, mistaken, belief in Palmer. Without Palmer Szmodics could have been given time to adjust to Championship football
  3. As we’re on page 53 of this rumour I thought I’d throw in a few graphs that illustrate the way such things spread. I haven’t a clue what they mean but I thought @Davefevs might like them
  4. Exactly. I don’t want to go over old ground but the team we’ve got is the result of the constraints placed on the old manager. The budget he had to work with was sufficient to produce a mid table team and no more
  5. I saw Elvis down the chip shop………
  6. I’m psyching myself up for today’s big match. I usually wear lucky red socks but, today, as I’m in mourning for Nigel I’m wearing a darker shade. Also, in respect for Nigel, instead of the usual lucky sausage roll, I’m going to take a slice of Melton Mowbray pork pie. Forecast - a 2-2 draw, good support for the players and a few pro Pearson / anti Lansdown songs sung
  7. How a simple rumour quickly becomes a “fact” known by all
  8. I find it amazing that Jon Lansdown has decided that the fitness and training regime supervised by Dave Rennie was the reason for the injury problem and hence his dismissal. Below is a list of Dave Rennie’s relevant education. Jon Lansdown’s medical expertise only goes as far as slapping on the sun cream in Bermuda
  9. Those were the days indeed. Pitches caked in compressed snow, players falling over and an orange ball. (Players didn’t wear gloves either in those days. It won’t be long before they start wearing scarves and balaclava hats)
  10. Joe Sims is a comedian / actor. He’s not a proper journalist, so that’s why JL agreed to the interview as he knows it’s going to be an easy ride. I’m not expecting much from the full interview apart from Joe Sims trying to be funny. I hope to be proved wrong
  11. I’m basing my hopes that newspapers / online offerings need something every day to fill space. Anything that makes a story and fills a page goes into print / online. Today it’s Manning tomorrow it will be someone else until the truth emerges
  12. Some of the signings made by Terry Cooper were amazing. It’s a long list, but just two examples are Martyn Hurst, a university student and John Palmer (not the infamous gold and timeshare criminal) who was signed from the mighty Weston Super Mare. Not only did TC sign Alan Walsh, he drove to Darlington in a van to help with his furniture removal when he moved to Bristol
  13. ………..and then the answer “computer says no”
  14. Bill Shankley and Joe Fagan at Liverpool. Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson at Man Utd.
  15. That’s nothing. I saw Alan Dicks in the barbers having a trim (as you do before an interview). You’re never too old for a comeback
  16. Can anyone imagine Lampard taking the job at City where he’s got to follow advice from Tinnion?
  17. Here it is. No expense spared
  18. I’ve heard it’s Neil Warnock as SL likes full and frank discussions
  19. Headlines on the back page of the Post: ”Martin aiming to be more prolific” He’s leaving it a bit late in life
  20. The more I think about this the more I’m convinced the BT and JL were coached by the master of interviews, Prince Andrew
  21. Bop bop shoo be doo wah
  22. I’m afraid that SL seems to want to recover a large percentage of the money he’s invested. Unfortunately things aren’t like that. No matter how much I spend on my house, if I decide to sell, the amount I get will be the market value of the house and no more. The market valuation of loss making Bristol Sport can’t be want SL is asking. (Assuming the figures quoted are accurate and, less be honest, nobody really knows for sure)
  23. Considering SL is from a business background you would think he would understand how to appoint the correct people for each job. But, as has been mentioned on numerous occasions, Peter Hargreaves seems to have been the brains. All the top people at the club seem to be at the level of Unconscious Incompetence - i.e. they don’t know how to do something properly and don’t recognise their deficiencies
  24. They are in-house videos with carefully selected questions and rehearsed answers. Totally useless. If they wanted to give interviews it should have been to neutral outside media. (Not a hop in hell's chance of that)
  25. With Benny you say “I could see a plan”. That sums up a lot of situations with City’s managers. There is a plan, but the board gives the manager the sack before it’s fully implemented and starts again on some completely different plan.
