  1. I’ve already booked a hotel at Wembley to stay overnight after the playoff final. I don’t want to drive back after a big celebration.
  2. No, according to this site which is reliable https://www.live-footballontv.com/live-english-football-on-tv.html#2023Dec17
  3. Another Christmas Steps fact - Graham Manning had a very good Mod style shop at the top of Christmas Steps in the 60s
  4. Oh no - other people have had the same greeting as me! I’m distraught as I thought it was a personal message, just to me, to thank me for putting up with my years of suffering.

    Exactly the same with me

I thought he had a good game but long-term he needs to add a bit of variety to his game. When he gets the ball near the penalty area he usually cuts inside onto his right foot to shoot or cross. It worked tonight and he hit the post against Sunderland but soon teams in the will get wise to his style of play. He just needs to go outside the defender occasionally. He can do it
  7. I used to go to Senior Reds lunches and have heard Steve Lansdown answer questions. He didn’t want anything reported because what he said was his honest option and some of the things were confidential and / or a bit controversial. That was in the days when he was interested in the club. That was a bit different to the recent Hen & Chicken and Senior Reds events where the answers were just waffle If JL had taken the easy option and said we’ve got to replace Nige because he’s unwell and can’t do the job it would have been accepted by the supporters. Maybe not happy, but excepted. Instead there were a host of convoluted reasons given which just didn’t stack up.
  8. It’s worth mentioning that Ray Cashley, City’s keeper, scored against Hull in September 1973 with a kick from his own penalty area. It was a very windy night, a bit like the forecast for tomorrow. Unfortunately I can’t see O’Leary repeating the feat as he just doesn’t have the feet
  9. Ignore the criticism and carry on as before. The forum needs you
  10. I can remember that game, and he was good. Unfortunately it was just a flash in the pan. A lot of players are like that - they produce one brilliant game now and then but just haven’t got the consistency to forge a successful league career
  11. Were you planning a Smash and Grab in tribute to the Rovers ( only understood by the old stagers on the forum)
  12. That’s the whole point - he did have a heavy touch. For all his effort he just hasn’t got the skill and goal scoring instinct City need
  13. This is what you call thin legs
  14. He would have fitted the current players and style of player but I can’t imagine him being a fit with Tinnion and JL.
  15. Back in the 50s there were back to back matches on Christmas Day and Boxing Day that drew big crowds. Luckily it doesn’t happen now but, in the future with big TV money, a Christmas Day match might come back. Unlikely but who know when it comes to mega bucks
  16. Ok, he only cost £300k and his salary must be low if he came from Luton, but I don’t see that as being a very good reason for signing him. Basically he hasn’t got any of the attributes needed of a forward - he’s not fast, not particularly good in the air against big defenders, ok ball control but nothing exciting and, most importantly, he’s got a poor goal scoring record over his entire career. He had one good season at Luton when he scored 12, but that’s it. I could understand the signing if he was a young player who might improve with the right coaching, but he’s now 28. I would have preferred a spend (perhaps pushed the boat out to £500k!) on a player from the lower leagues who could at least hold up the ball when batting as a lone forward against big defenders. That’s what we currently don’t have. They are around, probably wouldn’t score many at Championship level, but neither does Cornick
  17. You’ve all got it wrong. As LJ said when he was Sunderland manager: “can't be too displeased with the performance, on the data - percentile wise, it was a win, although it wasn't.".
  18. I recon I could nock up one of these for only a few pounds. The issue, I imagine, is how much Network Rail would charge me to use the line to and from Parson Street
  19. Please don’t, you’ll only encourage you know who to do even more
  20. I wouldn’t say Yeovil are walking away with the league. Seven points is a useful gap but Gary Johnson’s Torquay are only 7 points behind with half the season still to go. Torquay is also the current form team with 15 points from 6 games against Yeovil’s 9 from 6
  21. Exactly - if you’re not careful you’ll end up with spreadsheet overload

    Mehmeti

As Winston Churchill once said: ”Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” What has this to do with Mehmeti? Well, he seems to be on a journey from when he signed. He had talent and skill but little application. Gradually he’s got better, so perhaps it’s the end of the beginning of his development
