  1. I went to the doctor and said “It hurts when I press here, here, and here. What's the problem?" He said "Your finger's broken."
  2. Bluff, double bluff or triple bluff?
  3. Bobby Shadow Williams Luke Stepover Stepover Stepover Freeman
  4. Whenever I see the title of this thread I think it must be about a pop group / singer from the 70s: Bachman–Turner Overdrive Crosby, Stills & Nash Andy Fairweather Low Sheila B. Devotion Emerson, Lake, & Palmer. Taylor Gardner-Hickman etc
  5. Many years ago Tranmere played all of their home matches on a Friday night. This was to avoid a clash with either Everton or Liverpool on the Saturday
  6. I think the view that the Atyeo Stand design generates more noise is a myth. I can remember when home fans were in the Atyeo they complained that the design of the stand allowed the noise to escape!
  7. The home match was moved to give City more recovery time before the match on Boxing Day
  8. As an expert judge in all matter of taste I refuse to associate myself with such a vile beverage. Bristol City also have high standards so the club gave this competition a wide berth
  9. Probably because they keep watching City play
  10. The square roof of FA? You have obviously forgotten City’s Welsh Cup final triumph over the mighty Tranmere Rovers in 1934. OK, it took a replay but so called big teams such as Chelsea have never managed this. Just to put it into perspective, the last team to win the Welsh Cup was The New Saints of Oswestry Town & Llansantffraid Football Club,
  11. This is a good summary of recent promotions. On reflection, I think a team needs a 20+ per season striker, or two players who score goals in the teens, or a 10-12 goals per season striker with a lot of other goals coming from midfielders or defenders, or some amazing combination of these. Unfortunately I don’t feel City fits into any of these categories
  12. What is relevant is his scoring record in recent years in the Championship. Since the 2018/19 season he’s scored 29 goals in 140 appearances - approx one goal in every 5 matches or approximately 10 goals per season. Admittedly stats can be misleading as some appearances have been as a sub but, apart from half a season at QPR before he signed for City, he’s never been close to a 20 goals per season striker. That wouldn’t be so bad if City had a lot of goals from midfield but apart from Weimann’s one good season that doesn’t happen. There are exceptions but, in the main, if you want promotion you’ve got to have a 20 goals per season striker
  13. This is awful. Unfortunately a lot of the rest of the match was just as bad. There is a EFL football highlights match on TV and City usually get meagre coverage. If it was reversed and it was a football lowlights programme City would have star billing
  14. The official attendance was 22k, which is based on tickets sold, so approx 21k max in the ground at the start. It would be interesting to know how many were still in the ground (excluding those in the concourse making their way out) at the end of the match. If we also exclude those walking down the steps trying to leave I think there can’t have been more than 15k still in their seats watching the match. I survived until the end and it was amazingly easy to get down the steps and out of the ground
  15. When commenting about poor bowlers, Geoff Boycott often said: “My grandmother could have played him with a stick of rhubarb.” There should be a football equivalent to apply to facing City’s forwards
  16. He probably thought it was as true. Unfortunately some people have equivalent memory of a goldfish. I’m old enough to remember when Rovers actually had a good team that could compete in Division 2 (the equivalent of the Championship). Their current squad might be the best in the last 5 years or so, but that’s not saying very much.
  17. This is an interesting summary, and I agree with you on some points, but others I have to disagree. IMO there was never a period in the first half when we controlled the game, or was on top. It was just a period of average play from both sides that cancelled each other out. I also felt that Cornick never caused any problems for Birmingham. He ran around and got into some good positions but never did anything meaningful with the possession. As for “ Generally we weren’t bad”, well, if that wasn’t a bad performance god help us if we do have one (zero shots on target and of the others not one forced Ruddy to make a decent save)
  18. Has there ever been an answer as to why the Atyeo could not have a small section allocated to home fans? Capacity is 4,200 so with 3,000 for away fans that leaves just under 1,000 for home supporters. The barriers at the front might need an upgrade and the concourse split, but it’s not impossible.
  19. That definitely would be radical. I’m sure the people who have season tickets in the South Stand, and enjoy sitting by the same people each match, might have some complaints about most of the stand becoming unreserved
  20. I hated that kit. It was all red with white numbers on the back being the only contrast. It made my eyes hurt just looking at it. That said, Les Bardsley looks very smart in his white cricket umpire’s coat
  21. This is a perfect example of why. The group are telling people to do something, but not telling them what it is or why
  22. Rovers defence must have the oldest average age in the EFL.
