Millwall away match-day thread
pongo88 replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
I don’t think it will be 3 5 2 as NP likes to play a version of 442. I imagine Dasilva will play on the left side of midfield -
Thank goodness for that. One embarrassment is sufficient

Zigger Zagger was mainly a Chelsea chant from the 60s, but I can remember a City version of Piggy Wiggy. Perhaps it’s just because I’m an old stager, but I’m sure there was more imagination in the past. A lot of imagination nowadays is limited to a choice of which swear words can we use in a dull durge

If I had the wings of a sparrow If I had the wings of a crow, Chris Crow! I’d fly over Eastville tomorrow and sh*t on the bastards below, below etc etc For younger supporters Chris Crowe was a forwards City signed from Forest in the 60d

Thank goodness for that. I thought GMG’s manger ratings were a bit embarrassing

What score will Gregor MacG give him in the Post?

I think this is a good analysis. For me Semenyo has had numerous chances and, though he’s run around a lot, he hasn’t really consistently delivered in terms of an end product

I’m hoping Wells will be in the middle slightly behind Martin as NP has said he likes to play with two forwards. Weimann to do his usual non stop running on the right -

Opposing teams often have more possession than City. I can’t see this changing against Fulham, but this could work in our favour. If City is pushed back the defence will be compact with less gaps for Fulham to exploit. All it needs is City to be fast and clinical on the counter attack. -
A few people have mentioned that, in the past, season ticket holders have been moved against their will, so it’s therefore ok to move people to increase standing. Unfortunately, two wrongs don’t make a right. Apart from the fact that some people won’t want to move another problem is, where would they go? A lot of people sit with groups of fiends. Finding spare, similar size, groups of seats in the south stand could be very difficult. Would splitting them up “for the greater good” be acceptable?

If you don’t have any shots on target it doesn’t matter who’s in goal.
-
Not again. Every time this gets mentioned the same problems of sight lines for those sitting, and moving people who do not want to stand, have to be repeated.

He who laughs last, laughs longest, and we’ve now got plenty to laugh about with the Rovers.

I’m not worried about conceding a late goal. I have a doom and gloom feeling about this match so I expect it to be game over long before the 90th minute -
Luton Town home match-day thread

Any chance of the club offering away season tickets? I know three people who are City members who bought tickets in the Dolman for only £10 each. It’s obviously a good plan by City to sell more tickets, when there are two matches in a week against teams who aren’t that exciting, but without this sort of incentive the gate would obviously be even lower -
I think Tanner is (and I hate to use this expression) one for the future. How far the future is away is uncertain but I don’t think he’s going to come to the rescue in the next few months I hate the expression “he’s one of our own”. Whether a player has come from the academy or via a transfer is irrelevant. It’s their ability that counts. Prior to this season he’s played at full back, so he should have got the hang of it by now. If he’s not naturally a footballer he’s not going to make it in any position in the Championship He’s played at fullback earlier in his career at City and NP believes this is his best position. I can’t imagine he would be able to dislodge Kallas, Atkinson, or Baker as a central defender.

Anybody remember Fred Ford?
pongo88 replied to ontariored's topic in All Things Ex Players and Managers
It might be a different match but I can remember Lou Peters scoring with a rocket shot from the corner of the penalty area. Unfortunately it was an own goal and he said afterwards that it was an attempted clearance. He would have been a great player if only the pitch was 2 or 3 yards longer, as he often beat the full back but ran out of pitch -

I remember Fred Ford. He achieved a lot on next to nothing. Here he is to the right of Harry Dolman -
Come on Netty, how about Tomas Kalas and Adam Nagy who played in the Euros? Then there are King, James and Simpson who have played in the Premier League. Even fringe players such as Massengo and Moore are international youth players. The only Rovers player I’d recognise is Brett Pitman due to his spell at City approx 10 years ago. He’s been on the pies since he left City so way past his best. Of course, in Joey Barton, Rovers has someone of has international fame but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons

This sums up JET. On his day he’s fantastic but unfortunately “his day” isn’t that often. In the last 5 years he’s only scored 17 goals for a variety of clubs. He was fantastic, for a while, at City but has great talent with poor application. He’s wasted his career
