  1. Last game of the season for us to be the playoff final at Wembley?
  2. The objectors wanted the Memorial Ground listed. It’s interesting to read the reason why this was rejected: “The decision not to list was based on the lack of survival of the original stand of 1921 and the fact that the replacement stands dating from the late 1930s onwards do not display sufficient levels of innovation in their design or the architectural interest necessary to merit listing” If the objection was made now I’m sure it would be upheld as the various tent structures are definitely innovative
  3. Never fear Miah, Rovers will never go out of existence. They may fail financially, but the true core of supporters will keep the club going. I can envisage the situation in a few years when Rovers are playing in the Bristol Suburban League and the Gas forum is full of stories of them having the best away support in the league; every other club loves them etc. Plus the excitement of the cup run being knocked out in the second round of the Gloucestershire Junior Cup by Brimsham Green Reserves
  4. Fake Fanta and Babe Station were classics
  5. I’m in BS7 but it doesn’t feel blue here at all. I sometimes see strange people wearing da famous quarters walking towards Filton Avenue when there is a match, but that’s it.
  6. The one I liked best was the discussion on what size capacity their new ground should be: “Once we are getting somewhere near capacity in the 21000 stadium will be the time to enlarge IMO”

  8. With Holloway, he may be an annoying character but so are thousands of other, non football, people who are getting 80% of their salary from the government. With the current furlough scheme everybody gets it regardless of whether they talk sense or not. That’s the only way it can be. It’s best not to focus on Holloway but instead consider the many thousands who are struggling
  9. Best of luck Miah. You pretend to be blue, but you’re far too sensible for that to be true
  10. Shares aren’t worth anything if nobody wants to buy them. I decided to issue shares in by garden pergola at £1500 per share but, for some reason, there has been a distinct lack of interest
  11. As you are the best poster on the forum you will be forgiven anything
  12. You can tell things are bad. The only interesting comments are about William Hartnell and three wheel cars
  13. There were periods when there were flowers behind the goals at Eastville, and periods when it was just grass. Nothing has ever changed with Rovers, as they’ve always been hard up. I guess the non-flower periods were when they couldn’t afford the seeds.
  14. Good summary of some of the major jobs performed by previous Rovers managers, but you’ve missed the most important one - weeding the flower beds behind the goals. The younger OTIB readers will probably be unaware of Rovers having flower beds at Eastville. This is probably their only real claim to fame. Much more so than da famous quarters. Liverpool had the Kop. Arsenal had the North Bank. Rovers had flower beds
  15. City’s treatment of his injury was scandalous. Nobody seemed to know what the problem was with his knee, so he was just told to spend weeks on his own running up and down the Dolman to try and strengthen the knee. Although he injured his knee in August the first X-Ray wasn’t until October. Then the specialist told him that running up and down the stands had made the injury worse. To compound matters he was valued at £250k (a lot in those days) but the club had only insured him for £50k which meant he only received £10k
  16. For all Rovers supporters hoping for SL to come over the horizon like the 7th cavalry to save them, they should remember the old saying “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”. As Rovers can’t even afford genuine Fanta, there is nothing to offer that might make a merger an appealing option. Not even Babe Station in the clubhouse
  17. Bert - are you Comical Ali in disguise?
  18. Come off it Lanterne R, the Rovers are famous around the world. This must be true as their forum keeps stating it.
  19. The names that have been suggested in response to this question illustrate something that is probably interesting to younger City fans - ie in the past Rovers sometimes had good teams and sometimes were on a par with City. Today this concept is totally unbelievable
  20. Going back a bit, Alfie Biggs. He was a City fan and wanted to sign for City, as a young player, but the club messed him about and he signed for Rovers instead
  21. Well said Lee. (How’s your dad getting on at Torquay?)
  22. Somebody on Gaschat is not a happy bunny; “Never been a happy clapper, nor one of the boo boys but today was the first time in my 25 -30 years of supporting the gas that I left a game early (in the 70th min mark after the goal)...and Im 38 years old. I was stood there in the blackthrone in a truely sh** stadium, going to the toilet while standing in overflowing piss from the toilets watching awlful, noooooo ******* shocking football. We are heading back to the national league. The progress DC gave our club after 2014 for 2/3 years has been lost and we are a complete mess again. No wonder GC walked!!!! We are safe this year, but we will 100% finish rock bottom of L1 in May 2021. Before anyone calls me un loyal etc..get a grip.My uncle played for us in the 1960s,Ive been a fan for nearly 30 years.Spent £1,000's on watching us both home and away through the years, another £40 today... but now this club is taking the piss!! It will be a long time before Im back supporting blindly with just pure hope until we make proper changes.“
  23. Did you buy a pork pie hat to go with it?
