Could be a cracker. Both of our strengths are going forward and can be world class. In my view, both our defences are not at the level of Argentina and Spain. Quarter Finals looking like they could be absolutely stacked. Fammy!

Think us and France are two cracking sides when a goal up.

Two of the matches so far have had late goals back and it’s got a bit tense, but since the goal we have carved them open three or four times. As long as we just do not sit back stupidly deep we should now have this..but you do never know.

Yep, heard that. Either 16 groups of three, winner goes through, or 12 of 4, top two and eight best 3rds for a round of 32. First one, long way to go for two games, Second, not a huge fan of 3rd places. This has been quite a spectacle with the last matches in a group, final whistles go, it’s over one way or the other.

This format works. Two go through from a group of four. Games kick off at same time, twists turns and what have you. Throw it all in the air to have 48 teams. Most likely best placed 3rds. Loses a lot of this drama.

Why o why stop playing at 2-0? They were the better side and whilst unlikely, one goal in the other game out them out. Funny though.

Went to just about all the home games that season. Only a couple of away games I can not in truth recall. Used to go with three mates, always the same routine, and would place bets on size of the away crowd that was easily countable in the open away end. 49 was always a safe bet. Furthest away got the first round. Tears at getting to Wembley in ‘86. Just because of the journey, and here we still were.
