When Nige arrived he said he couldn't be judged until he'd had at least three transfer windows, these are still Nige's players so Manning has to be given more time, Nige's points per game were poor at the start and he had Scott and Semenyo during his best spell
I thought a new Manager is appointed to improve the team with its current crop of players...not have various windows to do that.
Look at Steve Cooper when he was appointed at Nottingham Forest.
Those saying that Liam Manning should not be expected to improve the current team is laughable.

As decisions from board level go - sacking NP, with the outrageous reasons given - was an absolute howler.
Proper .
We had sold players for big money, replaced on the cheap, both in terms of fees paid and presumably wages, we also were in the midst of a stinking injury crisis, yet, for the most part, fans were onboard and we had (very minimally) improved.
The football under NP, certainly when we had Semenyo & Scott was good - blistering counter attacking football AT PACE.
Talk of us having a top 6 squad is quite frankly, mugging off the intelligence of the paying fan base & something I'll not be in any hurry to forget or forgive.
Manning will need time & money to make his style of football work....
Hopefully he will get the time/cash to make it work, ultimately I'll always be a City fan, I'll always travel the country and spend my hard earned money.
But..
What is currently being served up is an absolute snoozefest, it's so slow, so turgid and so predictable and I don't enjoy watching it.
Mr Lansdown, Tins, do you still feel we have a top 6 squad? And are you happy with our style of football as we are... Being the players didn't need changing in your opinions?
Jon & Tins thinking that we were a top 6 outfit is worrying...

15 points from Mannings 12 league games = 1.25PPG so there has been no real improvement so far on Pearsons stats this season.
Disappointing. No manager bounce.
The board is to blame though for not investing in the August transfer window. No fault of Nigel or Liam.

What a stressful but very enjoyable day.
Arrived at Temple Meads at 9.30am.
Got into the stadium at 2.02pm.
Got home at 10pm.
Summary - Love Bcfc but hate British Public Transport...

I'm not convinced that Sam Bell can cut it at this level. Conway desperately needs a Centre Forward partner and the obvious choice is Nahki.
Manning on playing 'a 2'...
When asked before Christmas about how he views his strikers, Manning indicated he was wedded to a one-man approach. “I have played two up top before, but in terms of how we play, and especially at this level, I think it’s quite common if you look at teams building, they’re dropping seven, eight players low in build-up; teams build in a back four, the front two drop in and keep just wingers high and wide," he said.
“The game’s evolving constantly with what you need so at the minute we’re playing one up which I don’t see changing massively in the near future but I don’t think that’s a bad thing in terms of having two players with that quality and that pedigree as options, but also competing.”

I wasn't getting carried away with those 3 wins on the bounce as 2 of them were fairly lucky....mid table side as previously mentioned but annoying as that 6th play off place could be anyone's this season.
15 points from Mannings 11 games = 1.36PPG so there has been no real improvement so far on Pearsons stats this season.

Great Win and 3 Points...
So, Liam and Nige collectively both average around 1.4 ppg this season....why? Because its the same players.
Let's hope the board back Liam in January and bring in 3 players to strengthen... We are so mid table ...so if we can add 3 players in January, a top 10 place 'could' be achievable but I still think 11th to 14th is where we will end up with the current squad. I hope I'm wrong...

He was very much anti NP on the other City fans forum, each to their own but my preference is for debate backed by facts and context, not ‘sun’ type headlines.
If the purpose is to gain listeners at the expense of decent thought out debate they could do worse than get JL and Tins on, now there’s a couple of Piers Morgan types.

Ian does not help himself as he comes across like a bit of a ‘nasty man’… like his comment in response to a text comment ‘because I speak to highly intelligent people’ haha, what a ****.
That is the side of Ian Gay that infuriates some listeners.

What are you wanting analysed?
Mate, I collect football data, I don't analyse it in detail like yourself. I did all that stuff in my corporate days along time ago as a Data/Business Analyst
Looking at the simple Sky Sports stats, comparing the 2 games, I'm assuming Sunderland had a better XG to Coventry against us?

That underpins so many of Ian’s views. He initially was all for Nige when appointed, but then changed his view by the end of the season, because in Nige’s case he generally “analysed” by results, not context / other factors. He get sucked into liking / disliking managers and loses objectivity…and consistency of his argument.
Dont get me wrong Coventry were well on top that first half and hour before we started to calm them down a bit.
Ian says 4-0.
@Kid in the Riot says 3-0
XG is not all defining, I accept that, but here’s their XG from the first half.
0.44.
Here are screenshots of those 7 chances:
I don’t see 3-0 or 4-0 from those chances. Hitting the woodwork makes Sheaf’s chance appear better. Shots from distance or through crowded penalty area. Of course it’s possible a sense of relief that they had a goal disallowed for offside - correct decision btw.
Spot on. Have you analysed the differences in detail yet @Davefevs between Cov and Sunderland?
-
Mr Gay is marmite as @headhunter has highighted.
If we all agreed with each others views, it would be a boring podcast.
To make it more valuable, Ian does need to be challenged on certain occasions by the rest of the podders, (without having a slamming match and accepting others opinions in a debate format).
Keep listening

I like it when @Davefevs is on there. He keeps Ian in check with just his presence.
Ian keeps his controversial thoughts to a minimum when Dave is on there, most likely because he knows Dave can pick factual holes in those thoughts if need be.
Ian is still good value and makes several good points but can also make some 'howler comments' as well, like the Coventry lucky win comparison, which mirrored Sunderland on Saturday. In both games, we defended well and let's be thankful that both teams didn't convert their chances. The Coventry forward line should have put the game to bed in the 1st half, but they didn't and our defensive unit improved after numerous scares.
That's just Ian. He says he had nothing against NP, but on occasions his comments go against that. I'm sure he will have a pop at Liam after a few more defeats
Onwards and upwards...

In all fairness to FBC and I am a regular listener and throw in content via the chat threads, the title of this most recent episode is 'we got away with that' so the overall opinion from DP and the boys is not bumming up the performance.
Ian, on reflection, should realise the Coventry comparisons....

Club Media Content

What's everyone's thoughts on our current club media content..?
My son always ploughs through the club's old YouTube video's that he enjoys watching...
He said that our current stuff isn't much fun for kids to watch. He's 13 years old.
Here are a few examples of how things have changed. Flint v Pack having a laugh but what is the Luke Ayling signing on video about ? He's just got a scarf above his head and dressed in normal attire...
The current video content does appear to be more focused on adults but at least we now have players dressed in our merchandise when they sign for us, albeit there isn't any of it in stock at the club shop for the kids to buy
